Gravatar Hi, Joseph P. We saw your blog's coverage of Hideki Matsui and thought you would be interested in a stunning new documentary that kicks off the 19th season of the P.O.V. documentary series on PBS.

On Tuesday, July 4th, we are excited to present the national broadcast premiere of "Kokoyakyu: High School Baseball," a documentary by Kenneth Eng that opens up the world of Japanese high school baseball by following the fortunes of two high school baseball teams as they compete in regional games and then head for the 2003 Koshien tournament, will have its national broadcast premiere on Tuesday, July 4th. Now in our 19th season on PBS, P.O.V. is American television’s longest-running independent documentary series.

We have produced a companion website – www.pbs.org/pov/pov2006/kokoyakyu/ – that will feature interviews with filmmaker Kenneth Eng, former New York Mets manager Bobby Valentine, player Hideki Matsui and other baseball experts such as author Robert Whiting. Our companion website also links to other websites and resources on baseball in Japan.

We hope that you will consider linking back to our site and promoting the P.O.V. broadcast of “Kokoyakyu: High School Baseball” on Tuesday, July 4th at 10 PM (check local listings) on most PBS stations.

Thank you so much for your time and attention. If you have any questions, please consult our online pressroom (for photos and press releases, at www.pbs.org/pov/pressroom) and feel free to contact Ruiyan Xu at P.O.V. Interactive at xu@pov.org or 212-590-0580.
