Not to rain on Marbury's parade, but Shaq has been doing this for quite some time now right? After his contract was up with Reebok when he first came into the league, he started his own line of shoes that are sold at Target's, Payless Shoe Stores, etc... His shoe isn't $14.95, but I believe it's under $40. From what i've read, this doesn't get mentioned enough.

Mr. Marbury, I think I love you, as a parent and team admin for an AAU/YBOA boys basketball team this is the best news I've heard lately. Thanks for thinking like your mother taught you.
Hey, do you participate in giveaway's,we have fifteen (15) little boys and our uniforms would look great with your shoes, how about it, a little free advertising?
God Bless you,

Yes Shaq has a cheap shoe on the market but he does not wear it on the court. The same "Starbury One" shoe that is sold for $14.98 in Steve & Barry's stores is the one he will be wearing on the courts. The target and Payless Shaq shoes are just shoes Shaq puts his name on, he does not play in them.

I commend him for what he is doing but I think it will be tough to change the sneaker mentality. One of the main reasons kids like "sportin" the $100+ kicks is b/c kids want people to know that they could "afford" expensive shoes. It will help the Stephon is going to wear them and I think they actually look quite nice. Good luck!

There's a reason Shaq doesn't wear them on the court: they are heavy and hard on the ankles. I've worn two pairs and am done with them. But if Steph's are any good...I'll be wearing them.

Hey, for $15, you've got to try them on at least once. I can imagine a sacrifice in comfort, but if they don't wear out too quickly, then it'll be a good buy. Comfort can be worn into a decent pair of shoes.

We all know it doesn't take $30 in production to put out a pair of shoes, even if they're the highest quality. If this idea works, it could turn the basketball shoe industry on its head with people asking, "You're charging me $150 for a pair of shoes that doesn't cost near that much to make. Why?"

As a single mom, i say hallelujia (did I spell that right?) My boys play basketball and I have found that payless shoes are garbage. I want my son to have shoes that he grows out of before he wears them out. I also want shoes tha will not hinder his gaem (such as it is) and of course he wants to look good. So thanks for offering something to those of us that are not trying to beat the "Jones'" just trying to instill good character in our kids, not the kind of character that is driven by the Hummer I can show up in or the $200. jeans (or sneakers) when levis or Lee are jsut as good, if not better. I just can't see trying to make everyone around me want to have what I have, or try to have what I have and God forbid go into debt. Society is just a sucker for the creditors, ask any bankruptcy attorney they'll tell you.

Warning: Long Post Ahead
I give respect to Stephon Marbury for aknowledging the underprivliged people. I praise him for TRYING to make people realize that putting food on the table and paying bills is the first priority as opposed to getting your child $200 sneakers. It all boils down to people's responsibilities. I beleive that people will buy Marbury's shoes just to play basketball in them. As far as these kids wearing it on occasion, it is not most likely.
For one, there are't alot of Steven and Barry stores in the urban community.
Two, if it ain't Air ones, Timbs, Jordans, or Nikes, this shoe is not going on their feet.
It's sad to say it is that way but it is what it is.

If Marbury starts scoring 25 plus points while wearing his new kicks...watch out!
Its all about marketing, and let me tell you, S&B and Marbury are doing a great job of it. I was at S&B this morning and they sold out an hour and a half after opening the store! more were tp be shipped this afternoon, and I'll be there, but most likely they will be sold out as well. I guarantee they will be the sneakers to get this summer and I bet they will come out with another color in time for school year.

Haha these shoes are great, i got 2 pairs today before they sold out. But they didn't have a lot of the ones you see in the advertisement they said they only got a small shipment in. THe shoes are great i played ball tonight in them and they feel better than my nikes, time will tell how long they last but then they have a big selection of really cool street shoes as well for only $9.99, its ashame though that so many people want these shoes because there gonna be hard to get for a while and I live a hour a way from Steve and Barry's so it really sucks when they get them there gonna sell out before I can get to them.

Nike haven't been cool for about a decade. Design has improved of late, but the swoosh kills it. Style aficionados wouldn't be seen dead in them but these Starbury shoes and Stephon Marbury, rock with attitude .I'd love a pair please Starbury. cefrith at hotmail dot com if you know your stuff

Man, If I could get you a pair I would. I contacted Steve and Barrys to see if they would consider opening an online store but I still haven't back from them. I think they are missing out on a huge market since the stores have yet to reach most of the country, much less overseas. So far, Stephon's kicks are only in Steve and Barrys if you can get to one.

I think that it is great that Marbury and Shaq are offering affordable good quality shoes at an affordable price. I am a volunteer basketball and football coach for a local community center. Too much emphasis is put on urban kids by the media, peers and sometimes parents with the thinking being the higher the price the better the quality. I have seen sneakers by Shaq and Marbury both are offering good quality leather and suede sneakers that anyone can afford regardless of your economic situation. That is what you call giving back to your community.

Stephon's shoes and his Starbury clothing line are only being sold at Steve & Barry's retail stores, which are in many large cities, primarily on the East Coast. They do not sell online nor do they have a catalogue. I have tried to get them to sell online or allow me to open an online store for them without success. Perhaps if we get enough potential customers calling them and asking for it, they will reconsider. If you don't have a Steve&Barry's near you, then Ebay may be your only shot.

I just got mine today and broke em in immediately. Super lightweight, low to the ground, good traction, tight lacing system, good ankle support, breathable but sturdy leather, and good looks. Overall, I give them an A- for lack of arch support. If anyone says they dislike these shoes, they are just hating. As a former high school basketball player and assistant AAU coach, for $15 they are worth $60 more than what I paid for them. I would recommend these to any serious baller who realizes that a good shoe isn't good because of a high price.

Steve & Barry's sucks! I hate that annoying repitition of their spokespeople on the speaker system there: Loser tennis Williams & Afro Wallace. And then their shoes...Starburys? hahaha. I wouldn't even think of wearing that. Sorry. I feel bad for those who do. Their game will fall. I think their t-shirts are disgusting too. I was there today and half of it was about sex. I think their clothing line is ghetto...at least half of it is. Nice role model Steve & Barry. Your store sucks & I hope it crashes!
