Gravatar Here's a sports biz-related question: Does NBC sell advertising for the three Triple Crown races on a sliding scale, i.e. charging more for ads placed closer to the actual race time? Ya gotta think a lotta people just tune in for the race itself and nothing else...

Gravatar Interesting question to which I have not seen an answer. Perhaps someone in our community here might know. Logic would tell you that closer to the race would be more expensive, at least in the hour before rather than the first half hour, which was new this year.

I would also guess that the ad rates for the Derby are higher than for the other two races as the Derby generally draws significantly higher ratings, which I'm sure will be the case this year even if Big Brown is going for the Triple Crown as I expect he will.
