Where do you get off calling New York the league's "flagship franchise?" As evidenced by the lockout, every Canadian team is more important than that sad sack of losers.
It's not the flagship in the sense of importance to the league's on ice performance - every Canadian franchise (and most Sun Belt franchises are more significant) but in the mind of the media and the financial power brokers, there is no place besides New York. It's a sad fact but a truism. I don't live there and hate the fact but it's true.
