As a partial Tarheel alum (I spent about 2 years there), I have to root for this strategy to fail but, as a business and sports fan, I know it likely won't. Mixing business and sports strategy is a must in today's world, as sports, even Duke's lowly football program, are businesses. Take a look at the Patriots and Red Sox for great examples of business analytical strategies at work...I'm sure the Fuqua team looked at the Patriots for ways to win on the cheap.

What we should watch out for, though, is attributing any success Duke has next year to the use of Fuqua as the law of averages would predict Duke is due for a win.
