I don't agree with your political position, but we do live in a country that prides itself on free speech. I just came upon your blog during my random sojourn through the "next blog" button and wanted to let you know that I visited.

I have no problem with free speech, none at all. But I also demand honesty, even when I do not like what is said, if it is "honest" I respect it much more.
Especially when said story is written in a national paper.

I find the Commissioners comments concerning basing decisions on elections quite troubling, especially since he testified 3 months ago that politics are not involved in decisions:
IRS's Everson Angrily Defends Estate-Tax Auditor Cuts
WASHINGTON — Internal Revenue Service Commissioner Mark Everson reacted angrily Tuesday to suggestions the agency was cutting back estate-tax auditors to protect politically influential taxpayers, Dow Jones reported.
"I think that's garbage. That's total garbage," Everson said in a response to a question about the auditor cuts from Sen. Mark Dayton, D-Minn, according to Dow Jones. "I run a clean agency," Everson continued, his voice rising. "There's no politics in this at all. I find that assertion offensive."
Dayton asked the IRS commissioner about a New York Times report last month that said the agency plans to eliminate nearly half of the lawyers who audit estate tax returns, or 157 of its 345 estate-tax auditors. Money saved by eliminating the estate-tax lawyers would be used to hire revenue agents to audit income tax returns, especially those from people making over $1 million, the newspaper said.
Dayton, a member of the Senate Permanent Investigations subcommittee, asked about criticism that the cuts were designed "to protect people with political connections and complex tax avoidance schemes from detailed audits."

I would agree if the original comment hadn't said, based on elections, holidays ,etc... meaning that he was delaying until after the chaos of those occurences. The fact that they are waiting until the beginning of next year, not a week after elections, shows that holidays have more sway on waiting than elections.
They should, since the people they are talking about sending notices about back taxes to, are Katrina victims, most of which have lost everything, homes, jobs, furniture.. basically their lives as they knew it.
Would any of us do it differently?
Simply another case of NYT to insinuate, distort and create a headline for themselves.

Good for you, getting in there and holding your own. The White House is fighting back agaist biased reporting and asking for specific retractions or corrections. I wouldn't hold my breath though.
See. In the Bullpen for the article

Remind me not to get in an argument with you. I think you ripped the times reporters response to pieces. This is not a left or a right thing...just the new age of people being able to push back at the folks who for years have been beyond questioning.

Thanks for the support folks. Amazing how many people have a deep seated disgust for the New York Times and other far left papers that would rather risk our troops lives than report accurately.
GET OUT AND VOTE!!!!! It will help.
