I don't know why soldiers would consider their own countryman their enemy but it is certainly would worry me if that were the case. After all defending America is the whole point of the exercise.

Rading further down your blog though, I realize that you do have a good understanding of how the Democrats have managed to dig a hole for themselves. The bottom line remains though, that as long as we're willing to sacrifice proper strategic planning in exchange for partisan sniping, (and face it, pretending that Democrats are in fact allies of terrorists is partisan sniping in the first degree) then we are destined to fail in the war on terror.

What the Democratic victory brings to the table will be actual dialogue about proper strategy as opposed to mindless cheerleading which unfortunatlely has gotten us nowhere.

My only point here is that your attempt to dismiss my opinion based on the fact that I didn't vote in the current election cycle is misguided. I participate in several political forums and my views are sufficiently open that they may be subject to persuasion.
I remain committed however to the view that invading Iraq was a massive mistake, but am quite open to varying views as to how to solve the problems thus created.

We need to stop pointing fingers at each other and try to determine the best strategy to make the world a safer place again.

As such I can vote for the 39 Senators on the Islands and for the Governor of the Islands and for the single Representive (Donna Christiansen) that we send to Congress. I cannot vote for President. I have no Senators. If I were to file an absentee ballot then I would be committing fraud as I am not a resident of any State of the Union.

In any event. I agree with the balance of your post, in that Muslim religious extremists are a serious problem that we need to reckon with.

I just think that invading Iraq while downplaying Afghanistan and (more importantly) Pakistan was a seriously bad move.

Seemingly, we are expending a tremendous amount of effort in Iraq and not so much in Afghanistan, or so the media would have us believe. The fact of the matter is that we are still heavily engaged in Afghanistan (which doesn't bring as much press coverage as Iraq) and operations there have not gone to the wayside. Personally, I would rather us be engaging the enemy on their ground than ours. In doing so, it keeps the main fight away from the majority of our populace and protects our shores, which is the purpose of the military in the first place.

I saw an interview with Howard Dean, where his only \"plan\" for Iraq is immediate withdrawal, then within seconds another interview with Adam Schiff, another Democratic Congressman, where he said that an immediate withdrawl is not an option, then a third from Joe Lieberman, where he states that he would not have been voted in if the people expected an immediate withdrawal.

Then we have Nancy Pelosi saying Iraq is \"not a war\" but a \"situation\".

Where does our National Security come into play? Have you heard one person in the Democratic party refer to THAT in the last few days?

We have Khamenei calling the US elections a victory for Iran and Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, al-Qaeda praising the liberals and democrats and swearing that no matter what is done, they WILL attack the White House.

As far as our soldiers are concerned, the American public has, and I quote from a soldier here, \"kicked them in the teeth\", so what makes you think they care if you live or die anymore?

The list goes on and on.. and you feel safer?
