Losing should never be an option. I found it asinine that people expect the Iraqis, who have lived under terror for years and had to fight to feed their families to be able to automatically setup a working democracy with a valid strong defense all within a couple of years. If our new government decides to "redeploy" troops, I suggest we just give in to the Buchanan approach and bring everyone home and to heck with the rest of the world. Either fight to win or don't bother fighting.

By the way, Iran, Syria, Hizbollah, China, Russia, and Israel are watching and learning. The first five are planning their own filling in the vacuum and the last to determine how long they have to survive.
