The national polls are one thing, but looking at individual state polls and that should scare the Obama camp. In every battle ground state McCain pulls ahead of Obama. In states that could become battle grounds, McCain is gaining on Obama. If McCain can keep this up, he will beat Obama in November.

I find it absolutely hilarious that your post cites an LA Times/ Bloomberg National poll where Obama leads by 2 and a Quinnipiac National poll where Obama leads by 5 as signs that Obama has "squandered" his opportunity. All of the recent electoral maps have indicated a comfortable win for Obama, as McCain has to defend a much wider territory across the nation, while only making two Kerry states, Michigan and Pennsylvania, even slightly competitive. Obama has a 3:1 advantage over McCain in field offices around the nation and may have up to a projected 60 million fundraising advantage from a massive warchest that hasn't been "squandered," but is only waiting to be released after the conventions.

McCain is gaining everywhere on Obama.
And a "comfortable" win for Obama?
In whose dreams?

HERE ARE MY SUMMARY THOUGHTS FOR SOUND BITES FROM THE SADDLEBACK CIVIL FORUM:
SENATOR OBAMA LOOKED LIKE HE WAS AUDITIONING FOR:
“EQUVICATOR IN CHIEF”
SENATOR MCCAIN LOOKED LIKE HE
WAS RUNNING FOR:
“COMMANDER IN CHIEF”

good points--each new piece of information slowly makes obama seem more and more dishonest...I just read an interview with his 26 year old brother in kenya---his father had 8 kids with 4 wives (fine by me) but fess obama and explain why you claim to want to help the poor and your siblings are living on $1 a day on the outskirts of Nairobi...I actually liked the idea of a black president but he isn't anything except an optical illusion

I do not think Zero "squandered" the election. There are a limited number of people who would vote for Zero in any case, because of all his negatives. Zero maxed out early because of the novelty and enthusiasm.
There was absolutely no place for him to go but down, and the more people pay attention as we get close to the election and the more his negatives become know, the further down he will go.
Soros, Chicago, and the Kennedys took a tremendous chance in going with Obama, but they were not getting anywhere with the usual Marxist slugs that they normally nominate, and these old men are in a hurry to capture the American Republic before time runs out on them. But as usual the American Republic does not want to be captured by a bunch of Marxists.

Seems the Republicans really picked the right guy for this election, yeah he's old but c'mon. 30 years + of working his butt off for this country versus a creation of Mass Media with no history of serving this country, you'd think the left would have thought of that before they ran this fella Obama, the comparison is too strong for why Obama isn't ready for Prime Time.
Obama's hurtin bad because he peaked too early, it's just that simple and when he refused to take a stand on Abortion, for or against, it really just verified every worry the populace has with the guy, that he's a weak willed character with no core values, essentially a mouthpiece for Axelrod and Soros and Moveon.org.
The country is like "Hey we're coming off 8 years of far right politics, do we really want to go completely over the edge in the opposite direction now with a far left Congress and a far left President, or do we want a hard working moderate to counter balance the far left in Congress?" the choice becomes pretty clear pretty quickly.

Obama is toast. The Dems will be asking themselves why he lost, just like they did with Gore and Kerry. The fact of the matter is the country is vastly different even from the Clinton years.
Rumor has it that Obama is strongly considering Governor Tim Kaine of Virginia as his running mate: a conservative pro-life NRA southerner who like Joe Lieberman was in 2000 is a man in the wrong party. There's actually a lot to like about the guy other than he's thrown in with the Ds
Can you imagine what the selection of Kaine would do to the pro-choice Hillary faction of the Dems and nutroots faction? They would abandon Obama in a heartbeat. It would be the single worst VP selection since Ferraro.
I still stand by my prediction: McCain by 10 by Labor Day. if it's Kaine, it may be 15.

Obama may have more field offices and is spending large sums on local advertising and yet he is not opening any kind of lead. McCain is spend almost nothing is key states and is either leading or slightly behind. Furthermore, historically GOP Presidential Candidates run stronger after August, see Gore, Kerry, and even Carter, oh and Mondale, Dukakis.

How campaigns are run is certainly very important - yet the liberals can't do to much in this direction because from moment ZERO, the Obama campaingn's main selling point was Obama as persona/personality, and they went for this full bore. And now it's exactly Obama's persona/personality that is haunting them: superficial, wanton, slippery, inexperienced & presumptios - the Opossum seal is the trademak of their misery, and they deserve it, and this CANNOT be fixed.
How's playing this elsewhere than San Francisco, Hamptons, and Bel Air? "Gretchen, we simply can't vote for this dude, and we'll talk to the children, too!"

I agree, Obama is in trouble. And his thoughts and views are TROUBLING! WE'll see after the conventions, but I would think McCain will pull ahead. I was thinking about McCain yesterday (I, a 40 year Democrat now turned Independent after the absurdity of the DNC Rules and Bylaws Meeting)and had a new thought about him and the Vietnam War years...how, after the debacle of the those years, McCain might bring a measure of comfort/pride to the Vietnam veterans who were so maligned after the conflict. As he comes from their era, I think a majority of them would feel vindicated that one of them has risen to the point of running for President. No matter what happens I think his running has elevated those veterans and their service especially which is a very good thing I think.

Latest polls show Obama has dropped 5 points ..no longer in the margin of error...
regarding Electoral votes it appears that Mc Cain has actually gained sufficient votes to be elected.. Both Reflect a HUGE drop for Obamam since July '08...
It just may be that the more is learned about the Empty Suit , the less Americans TRUST HIM, His Judgement, and understand that he is Inexperienced.. has questionable associations from his Chcago political and ministerial " friends"... in other words Too much baggage and the still unanswered Muslim affiliation...He did register to acatholic school in iNdonesian as " Islam" on the religion affiliation...another OPEN QUESTION...
