Here's the scary part, spree. There are plots going on right now that are *not* under investigation; plots going on that we may know nothing about because the Democrats and the media keep blowing the cover on our information gathering procedures. Anti-terrorism requires us to maintain 100% success at all times.
Eventually these leaks will result in the deaths of Americans. When that happens, when our intel people are called on the carpet and demonized by the media, what will the American people make of it when our counter terrorism forces say "The media tipped them off and they changed tactics on us" ?
The old saying goes, a conservative is just a liberal who has been mugged by reality. The 2007 version of that is a conservative is just a liberal who has finally realized we're at war.
As much as it disgusts and pains me to say it, it will take something far worse than 9/11 to reclaim the millions of Americans who don't believe we are at war on a daily basis with a billion Muslims. Perhaps the overwhelming guilt at their own ignorance and hubris when that attack comes will finally get them back on America's side.
It will have to. Because if it doesn't, this country may be at war with itself before too long...
