This reminds me of a supposed \"war on christmas\" a few years ago. I think its bad that they might feel they have to hide expressions of christmas. I saw claims that using \"Happy Holidays\" is one of them, I disagree. Its an easy, simple way to accomodate the several festivities of the season.
Politness shouldn't be a replacement for acceptance of difference.

$\"Gravatar\"$ One would have to be a little bit naive to think Lowe's or a Lowe's employee was not trying to be holiday PC initially. How can someone typo \"Family\" instead of \"Christmas\"? Having a background in journalism makes me a bit suspicious of a \"proofing\" error as an excuse. I believe it was because of the folks at AFA that Lowe's did the backpedaling and apologized.

Hate to burst your bubble, but there are still people trying to hide \"Christmas\". I bet a Family Turkey Dinner on it!

Actually, a militant Christian making an anti-Pagan statement might do that. Early Christians coopted the Pagan winter holiday ritual of the evergreen tree in an attempt to attract converts without upsetting their traditions. The upside down Christmas tree was first used in the 12th century by Christians who wanted to distinguish themselves from Pagans by inverting their ritual. In those days, they would hang the tree from the ceiling. In addition to being an anti-Pagan symbol, and also an anti-Pagan- sympathizer-Christian apologist symbol, the upside down tree was also decided to represent the Trinity, having three points at the top instead of one. Eventually, Christians lightened up and just went with the original Yule Tree arrangement.

My apologies to Lowe's for keeping alive the recently revived 12th century tradition (hey, wasn't that the \"dark ages?\"). Maybe many of the people who buy these trees in the 21st century fly the flag upside down too. Some people just see things that way. As for me, I'll lay my sod and my Christmas tree right side up!

$\"Gravatar\"$ Is everyone just a little too concerned with attacking anything that does have the word “Christmas” in it during this season? While I don’t agree with calling these trees “Family Trees” it is hardly blasphemy. No matter what your religion the “Christmas Tree” was not a christian symbol until the early 16th century in Germany and now that meaning is mostly lost in the overwhelming commercialism that has taken over Christmas in the US. Why do we not attack how commercial the retail industry treats the season of celebrating the anniversary of the birth of Christ?

Please people, defend that which is Christmas… Not what Christmas has been turned into by money and greed.

First you have to find a store, then look up through the inventory whatever you need, it may turn out that the things you need are not there. So you have to go to the other store. I have been looking for a great source of home improvement items. And I found it Lowes. I checked www.pissedconsumer.com for customer reviews and found out it was the right choice.
