But I have just posted and linked to you - with my own little commentary added, of course!

Gravatar Has anyone read both essays?

Obama criticized mccain occasionally, but the majority of Obama's essay was an analysis of the situation in Iraq and what he would do as president to remedy it.

Mccain's essay was a 2 page rant on Obama. Practically every paragraph mentioned Obama with some criticism attached. I think all but 2 paragraphs had Obama's name in it.

NYT was right to reject it. This was not supposed to be an attack piece on each other, but an explanation of where they stand.

Go figure it would happen to Mccain - he was a D student after all.

Gravatar richard: IN academic circles, what Senator McCain did is called "compare and contrast". I think his piece is clear and lucid. I "get" what he is saying.

Gravatar Libs don't, brat--after all, NBC is now giving BHO military status by saying he's on "tour of duty"--completely insulting and disgusting to those who actually are serving.

Gravatar I can't even watch his bs over there, but did find a funny by one of the Iraqi officials. I can't remember the exact quote but when he was asked if they had discussed a certain topic with Obama, the Iraqi official said something like: "No, because he is not a leader of any government body". Bad paraphrase but that was the gist of it..made me chuckle....And we all know that chuckles are few and far between these days.

Gravatar The New York Times didn't "refuse" to run an op-ed by McCain. It merely asked, very politely, that McCain rewrite his submission to include more specifics. (The NYT is under no obligation to run unedited campaign diatribes on its op-ed page.)

Gravatar The NYT is still in business?

Perhaps the piece wasn't PC enough for them.

Gravatar wHERE WERE ALL OF YOU WHEN WE PULLED OUT OF VIETNAM?? I WAS THERE. AFTER MORE THAN 50 THOUSAND OF MY BROTHERS HAD LOST THEIR LIVES. THAT'S HOW A TIME TABLE WORKS. LET US GET THE JOB DONE AND GET OUT. NOT WITH A 16 MONTH WINDOW IN WHICH WE WILL LEAVE AS COWARDS, UNABLE TO FINISH WEAK. TO LEAVE AND RETURN AGAIN TO FIGHT AND DIE. THE SURGE HAS DONE WELL IT MAY PROVE TO BE THE REASON THAT WE CAN LEAVE IN THE NEAR FUTURE LEAVING A BASE OR TWO TO CONTINUE AS ADVISERS. MAY BE IN 16 MONTHS WE WILL HAVE ENDED THE WAR ALTOGETHER AS A WAR BUT NOT FROM BEING THERE TO MAINTAIN AND HELP MAINTAIN THE PEACE. BUT YOU DO NOT TELL YOUR ENEMY THAT. IT WOULD BE TERRIBLE FOR OUR MILITARY. THAT IS THE DIFFERANCE BETWEEN MCCAIN VS OBAMA, MCCAIN WILL INSURE THAT WE DIDN'T DIE FOR NOTHING AND RETURN TO WAR. AS OBAMA'S STRAGITY WILL GET ALOT OF OUR PEOPLE KILLED! PLEASE DON'T MAKE US GIVE UP THE COUNTRY TO OUR ENEMY'S AGAIN! WE MUST WIN NOT RUN!!! LET OUR PEOPLE, WHO HAVE FOUGHT HAVE THE HONOR TO WIN NOT ALLOWED TO US IN VIETNAM. THEY DESERVE IT.

Gravatar Attack piece? Please, Obama needs to be called on all of his 'refined' views. The man is a flat-out LIAR. Too many people are too busy worshipping this empty-suit that they are blind to his many, many deficiencies. No experience (except those of Emil Jones, Jr. which he took credit for), no qualifications, no proven leadership, no thoughts of his own (Obama admits he has 300 foreign policy advisors supplying him with questions and answers). And tons of followers who just love his smile and the sound of his voice. GET A CLUE!

Gravatar BINGO JACKSON! this is what its all about, Obama the cowardly socialist who hates whites (20 yrs in white hating church), hates the poor (no drilling and now his party in the Congress want to RAISE TAXES on petroluem)dispises Bible believing Christians (San Francisco comment) and wants to compromise our security like Bill Clinton by not only running from a war but promising that there will be a "peace dividend" that will fund his programs, that means further gutting the military. When Clinton did that it almost wrecked us at 9/11.
Why doesn't go where he and his wife would be happier? A system like, say, China?

Gravatar Typical tactic by the Unfair, unbalanced, and Liberal Nut cases who run the NY SLIME... But hey.. they are going Broke.. is it any wonder???

Gravatar The question must be asked: What part of McCain's letter is not true? Is pointing out disagreements on policy with Obama an attack? I don't think so.

Gravatar ... the attack is only in the pandring bastard's mind... He disagrees with Petraus on troop withdrawal.. has Oily Cloark go out again to say that Not all Generals need to be listened to ... and he is out to diminish the SURGE success while wanting an Afghab Surge??? What is the Panderin Bastard up to now??? The Mid East House of Waffle chain opening???

Gravatar McCain just blew off speaking with thousands of reporters at the upcoming Unity national convention for journalists all the while complaining he's not getting nearly enough news coverage. At last count, it looks to be over 10,000 reporters who were snubbed by Mr. McCain. With all those ews reporters losing out on a great opportunity to meet with and write about the man, could it be that mainstream media might be looking for something to report, a story to investigate?

Feel free to forward the following "news tip" to them. We can kill three birds with one stone - take the media to task for not giving us coverage on the full McCain, bring attention to an issue affecting many veterans, and give Senator McCain the level of news coverage he craves.

The media fills us full with stories of McCain's war 'hero' history, writes numerous articles on his status as a
POW, informs us each and every time one vet speaks out for him, reminds us endlessly about the torture, even going into great detail about the types of torture and the number of years the man was tortured, yet it never enters the minds of mainstream media to ever ask the obvious question "Could the man running for the highest office in the United States of America, a job with incredible stress, possibly suffer from PTSD"?

Google the general web with the words 'mccain ptsd' and approximately one half million hits will appear. Many of these are articles by veteran groups, most having to do with McCain's lack of support for veterans and others having to do with the very real possibility he suffers from PTSD.

Now go to Google news section and enter 'mccain ptsd'. You might pull up one or two related articles, if you are lucky.

As you can see, there is no real mainstream media resonsibility on this issue. The press is more than willing to talk about the details of McCain's torture but not the probable result of the torture.

“Among U.S. servicemen taken captive during the Korean War, as many as nine out of 10 survivors may suffer from
post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other mental disorders more than 35 years after their release,
psychologist Patricia B. Sutker of the New Orleans Veterans Administration Medical Center and her colleagues report in the January AMERICAN JOURNAL OF PSYCHIATRY.”

McCain has a nine out of ten chance of having PTSD, displays many of the symptoms, yet no one in the mainstream
press will question him, a candidate for Commander in Chief who has a history of an out of control temper and refuses to release his military medical records to the general press.

Nine out of ten - Anyone willing to take book on the possibility he does not suffer from ptsd? Call me, I need gas money.

'Post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, can result from wartime trauma such as suffering wounds or witnessing
others being hurt. Symptoms include irritability or outbursts of anger, sleep difficulties, trouble concentrating, extreme vigilance and an exaggerated startle response.'

http://ptsd.about.com/od/ symptom...TSDsymptoms.htm

Before the Iraq war many of us begged the media to fully report on the wmd in Iraq, how it got there, who helped to supply Saddam with it and to report on previous administrations' dealings with Iraq. We were told it was ancient history. The media 'apologized' years later for their failure to fully report the war.

Today, we ask the media to help us answer the question 'Is John McCain emotionally fit for the most stressful job in our country, the President of the United States, our Commander in Chief."

Media has a choice. They can continue to tip toe around the elephant in the room, put a poltician before country,
violate the spirit of journalism and ignore ethics that bind them, or they can do their job. They can give us the
full McCain.

Gravatar I think it's more likely he suffers from Stockholm Syndrome with a side of PTSD.

The symptoms you list, while very much a part of PTSD, are also quite normal for ordinary people in stressful situations. There is too much inclination to label people and things for expediency these days.

Now, if we're going to continue with the labels, a messianic complex is extremely dangerous (i.e. Koresh, Manson, Jones, Jeffs, Moon, etc). BHO definitely shows the symptoms of messianic complex. He also shows and extreme lack of maturity, said maturity having been arrested in adolescence if not prior to. This is abundantly clear in his lack of accountability, his inability to pick a position and stick with it, his attempt to spin his wrongdoing--we could go on and on.

Do we want a CIC who is flawed and acknowledges his flaws, his very humanness or do we want someone stuck in infantile paralysis suffering from a messianic complex?

Gravatar From Firedoglake:

'Impaired CNS inhibitory function greatly diminishes comprehension of even mildly complex situations. Thinking about complex stuff requires not only sustained attention (compromised in diminished inhibitory function), but also the capacity to tolerate the frustration inherent in confronting discordant possibilities (also compromised in diminished inhibitory function).

For these reasons, McCain's repeated bizarre mangling of basic information - together with his documented history of severely impaired impulse control - suggest that McCain's neuronal function impairs his capacity to comprehend complex realities. With advanced age, cognitive dysfunction as severe as Senator McCain evinces tends to grow worse with each passing year - as does the severity of the emotional lability which so troubles senior military officers.

Sadly for Senator John McCain, he's exhibited labile mood for decades - and advancing age tends to accelerate neuronal death, further compromise inhibitory cerebral function, and hence lead to more severe emotional dysfunction.

In the Oval Office, progressively worsening intellectual comprehension and emotional dysfunction would not merely be sad - but catastrophic."

Dr. Murphy discussing various issues that may affect McCain

http://firedoglake.com/2008/03/2...ly-incontinent/

Gravatar Unless Dr. Murphy is McCain's personal physician with intimate knowledge of his conditions, his opinion is like everyone else's. Not worth shit. And since when is Firedoglake a medically reliable site? It's nothing but a bunch of moonbat loons!

At least McCain knows what he's doing--unlike a certain immature baby looking for his pacifier.

Gravatar We have nothing else to go on.. McCain refuses to release his military medical records.

Gravatar That is the most ludicrous comment yet. You believe a hack who isn't treating him from a frothing moonbat tarpit....

Get lost and don't come back until you are old enough to understand reality--McCain has released what's relevant and obviously, if it's not enough for you, that's too damn bad and none of your business--BHO has yet to release records even half as complete, and won't even release a valid birth certificate to stop rumors--even Hawaii said it's not a valid birth certificate.

Bottom line is this--even the media is noticing the bias for BHO, the NYT is owned and run by a notorious lib who refuses to print anything remotely resembling opposition to his idiotic ideas and the NYT has become nothing more than the east coast National Enquirer which has lost 82% of its readership. No matter how you spin it, we here do NOT support BHO, we never will and you won't convince us.

Gravatar You are incorrect on the release of medical records.

Why do you feel voters do not have the right to even ask the question:

'Is John McCain emotionally fit for the most stressful job in our country, the President of the United States, our Commander in Chief."

Gravatar Why do you feel voters don't have the right to question the very lack of credentials BHO carries, including his deception regarding his birth certificate and HIS mental condition?

Fact is, voters have rights to question ALL credentials of both presumed nominees; however, to simply focus on McCain's age exclusive of anything else, including his vast reservoir of experience (far and away ahead of BHO in ALL areas) is ridiculous and shows a veritable lack of intellectual honesty. to continue to deny the right to question BHO, to continue to exclude his extreme lack of experience, to continue to deny his flat out lies and deceptions, is puerile and immature at best and shows a disconnect from reality at worst.

Gravatar I've not even mentioned obama. The question at hand is about mccain. Do you feel voters have the right to know he is fit for commander in chief?

Gravatar Why don't you read the answers I gave? You might find your answers. Or is that too simple?

Gravatar I'm not here to debate whether McCain has PTSD. I am asking why mainstream media is afraid to even ask the question.. a queswtion that should be taken into consideration as far as McCain's qualifications to serve:

"'Is John McCain emotionally fit for the most stressful job in our country, the President of the United States, our Commander in Chief."

Media has a choice. They can continue to tip toe around the elephant in the room, put a politician before country, violate the spirit of journalism and ignore the ethics that bind them, or they can do their job. They can give us the full McCain."

Gravatar As I said, you have your answers. Now, are you going to say something substantive or not? It seems your entire being is wanting nothing more than to find a way to entirely discredit McCain based upon his age while ignoring the flaws--one being age and experience--of BHO. I'm out of patience with you going in circles. Spit out what you're trying to say, say it and begone.

Gravatar I have not discussed McCain's age nor Obama. Only the media's failure to ask a simple question. Surely the voters deserve to know..

Gravatar Asked and answered. Repeatedly. It won't be answered again and continuing to ask the same question will get you deleted. Either read the answers you've been given or go somewhere else.

Gravatar MsSwin

Is Obama Mentally fit to remenber what he says from one hour to the next????? That is aGrave Concern for many of us based on the last few months of Oratory....

Gravatar When we posted this story in Dec. 2007 (and we certainly weren ’t the only blog to do so) the article was hit about 6,000 times, leading me to believe that it was absolutely newsworthy with or without Edward’s admission. After all - all the same elements are there. Not much has changed in a half a year.

The fly in the ointment here though is that is shows pretty plainly how bent the media is. Oh yeah, I know, they ’ll cover liberal goofs when they absolutely have to. The cable news networks are forcing them to cover all sorts of things they didn’t want to cover before....

However the newspapers - like the NY Times will splash an unproven story about an alleged McCain affair all over the front page, while the Edwards story (which has had sources, photos and the woman’s own allegations) was flatly ignored.

Now the liberal press proports “he’s not running for anything, why does it matter?”

Well, the story happened when he was running for something - he then was a viable VP candidate and lastly, yes, he is STILL in active in the political process, stumping for Obama (until now anyway).

To say it ’s not a legitimate, serious story is pure nonsense - and since I seriously doubt Edwards is coming clean about the child being his, it will continue to be a story.

The aggravating thing to me is the simple fact that if one of our soliders messes up on the battlefield, fighting for their lives... the media will run with that story for years and years.

Type GITMO into a Google search and count the major media links appear by the hundreds and probably thousands.

Let one of their own mess up, lie about it, cover it up.... and it’s page 18 news at the very most.

Danny Vice
http://www.theweeklyvice.com

Gravatar Danny, it is VERY newsworthy and absolutely shows the double faced hypocrisy. You just kept cutting and pasting the same thing. It is most definitely serious and again goes to show lack of judgment capabilities--what goes on in any one's private life is indeed private and they have to answer for it. However, when that person is a public figure wanting to hold the highest office in the land, it goes directly to show how they lie and cover up and it's not what we want in a leader--how could we ever trust them?

Just don't post the same thing over and over again, okay?
