“We can not deport 12 million illegal aliens.” Fred Thompson

Maybe not all at once but we CAN start with one at a time, start with those that have been arrested and convicted for crimes they have committed. Then move on to those in "sanctuary cities", then worry about the rest, but we CANNOT reward them for breaking the first law we have upon entering our country by coming here ILLEGALLY.
No one says round up 12 million people at once, but if we ENFORCE the laws we have, secure our border, start deporting those we can catch here illegally, instead of turning a blind eye away from them, we will have a good start.
Encouraging "Amnesty" by whatever politically correct name you want to call it, will only endanger our country further.

Thanks for the mention, as always.
I like Fred Thompson. He lets you know what he things, whether you agree with him or not. No nonsense. I like that. I thought George W. Bush was like that, but ding-dong, I was wrong. At least Bush has been strong on the stem cell situation.
On illegal aliens, no one things for a minute that we will deport 12 - 20 million illegals. But we sure can stop the flow if we really want to.
One person, forget who, said "If you bathtub is running over, what do you do? Get a mop or pull the plug?"
We need to start mopping, one illegal at a time, and pull the plug so that the in-flow is stopped.

I agree 100% with that!!!!!!!!
They came illegally and it is not up to us to reward them for that. Crime needs to be punished and as we said as children, "NO BUTTING IN LINE".
How difficult is this for our politicians to understand?

I honestly don't think we'd have to deport that many of them. If we started prosecuting employers who hire illegals, cut off government services to them, prosecute landlords who rent knowingly rent to illegals, make this country as INHOSPITIBAL as possible to them, eliminate these "sanctuary cities (what utter and complete bull, by the way)," do you think that they'd stay?

Well, the ugly truth is you CAN deport these folks. Afer all, if the Germans can round up 6 million people (in the midst of a war that their infrastructure was desperate and inadequate to handle) tote them off and kill them, then America can certainly round up three times that number and send them home with a sack lunch.
Break up families? Maybe - OTOH, these folks KNEW there was and is a very real risk of getting caught and thrown out. They rolled the dice. They lost.
Crops rotting in the fields? Plenty of prison labor (actually an entire economy can be built using out of state (non violent) prisoners) to handle it.

This is a terrific piece of analysis and research put together to make an excellent point.
God bless the moderate Muslim you have quoted and may the voices like hers prevail.
As to Fred Thompson saying we cannot deport 12 million illegals - well, everyone is saying that...wish they wouldn't, but as you have said, and as Debbie said, we need to pull the plug (close the border) and rapidly begin mopping (clearing out that which does not belong here, beginning with the worst of the bunch first.)
Such a good piece.

Voted in 1996 to continue chain migration
Sen. Thompson in 1996 voted against the Simpson Amendment to S.1664. It was a vote in favor of a chain migration system that has been the primary reason for annual immigration levels snowballing from less than 300,000 in 1965 to around a million. Sen. Thompson supported provisions that allow immigrants to send for their adult relatives. Then each of those relatives can send for their and their spouse’s adult relatives, creating a never-ending and ever-growing chain.
Voted in favor of chain migration in 1996
Sen. Thompson voted in 1996 against the Feinstein Amendment to S.1664. The Feinstein Amendment would have reduced annual admission of spouses and minor children of citizens to 480,000 and significantly reduced annual limits other categories of chain migration such as parents of citizens and adult unmarried children of citizens. By voting against the Feinstein Amendment, Sen. Thompson voted in favor of a system of chain migration that has been the primary reason for annual immigration levels snowballing from less than 300,000 in 1965 to around a million today.
Voted to grant amnesty to close to one million illegal aliens from Nicaragua and Cuba in 1997
Sen. Thompson voted to grant legal status to Nicaraguans and Cubans who had lived in the United States illegally since 1995, along with their spouses and minor unmarried children. The overall ten year impact of this legislation will be the addition of some 967,000 people to U.S. population. There was no separate vote on the amnesty, as it was inlcuded in the DC Appropriations bill. The only opportunity Senators had to vote in favor of or against the amnesty was the Mack Amendment to S.1156. The Mack Amendment passed 99-1.
In 1996, removed higher fines for businesses which hire illegal aliens
Sen. Thompson, in committee consideration of S.1664 protected businesses from having to pay higher fines when they are caught hiring illegal aliens. Under the idea that current fines were not enough of a deterrent against businesses cutting their labor costs by hiring illegal aliens, the Senate immigration subcommittee approved higher fines. Various study commissions have found that the willingness of U.S. businesses to hire illegal aliens is the No. 1 incentive for foreign workers to become illegal aliens here. But Sen. Thompson voted with a 10-8 majority in the Judiciary Committee to remove the higher fines from the 1996 legislation against illegal immigration.
Tried to kill voluntary pilot programs for workplace verification in 1996
Sen. Thompson voted IN FAVOR of the Abraham Amendment to S.1664. He was part of a coalition of pro-business conservatives and liberal civil libertarians who tried to use the amendment to kill the establishment of voluntary pilot programs in high-immigration states. The programs were intended to assist employers in verifying whether people they had just hired had the legal right to work in this country. Such ver

And....
Voted to strip legal reforms from 1996 bill
Sen. Thompson helped defeat legal immigration reform when he voted for Senator Spencer Abraham’s amendment to remove the legal immigration reforms from S.1664, the Immigration Control and Financial Responsibility Act of 1996. This vote effectively killed any chance of Congress considering the Jordon Commission recommendations on easing legal immigration levels.
Voted for a foreign worker bill with no anti-fraud measures in 2000.
Sen.Thompson voted for S.2045, the Abraham foreign worker bill to nearly triple the number of foreign high-tech workers. On the heels of the release of a GAO report finding no proof of a high-tech worker shortage and evidence of abuse in the H-1B program, Sen. Thompson voted for this foreign worker bill that contained no worker protections or anti-fraud measures.
As Committee member, produced H-1B doubling bill in 1998
Sen. Thompson was a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee that created the Abraham H-1B doubling bill in 1998, S.1723.
Nearly doubled H-1B foreign high-tech workers in 1998
Sen. Thompson helped the Senate pass S.1723 in a 78-20 vote. Enacted into law, it increased by nearly 150,000 the number of foreign workers high-tech American companies could hire over the next three years. Although the foreign workers receive temporary visas for up to six years, most historically have found ways to stay permanently in this country. Sen. Thompson voted for more foreign workers even though U.S. high tech workers over the age of 50 were suffering 17% unemployment and U.S. firms were laying off thousands of workers at the time.
Voted in committee against including worker safeguards in H-1B bill in 1998
Sen. Thompson joined 9 of his Senate colleagues to keep employee safeguards from inclusion in S.1723. An amendment would have accomplished two important goals: ensuring no American was laid off or displaced prior to hiring an H1B employee; and, that employers demonstrate they had previously taken timely and effective steps to hire a qualified American.
Voted to allow firms to lay off Americans to make room for foreign workers in 1998
Before the Senate passed the H-1B doubling bill (S.1723), Sen. Thompson had an opportunity to vote for a measure requiring U.S. firms to check a box on a form attesting that they had first sought an American worker for the job. Sen. Thompson voted against that, joining those who said the requirement would give government too much authority over corporations’ right to hire whomever they please from whatever country.
Voted to allow firms to lay off Americans to make room for foreign workers in 1998
Before the Senate passed the H-1B doubling bill(S.1723), Sen. Thompson had an opportunity to vote for an amendment that would have prohibited U.S. firms from using temporary foreign workers to replace Americans. Sen. Thompson opposed that protection.

There is NO candidate that votes as I would like on EVERY issue.
With that said, we, as Americans, must decide what our priorities are and work within that mindset.
MY first priority is National Security and second immigration because I think the two are entwined together.
Fred Thompson speaks honestly, never tries to HIDE his stance on issues, even if they are something we do not agree with.
Overall, I believe Thompson is firm on National Security and winning the Global War on Terror and we can work with him to find a happy compromise on the issues where we do not agree with him.
Trying to do your damndest to turn opinion of this man, says more about YOU than all you long comments say bout him.
Something to think about.

Two things
First, I'm from Tennessee, I voted for Thompson when he ran for Senate and kept up with what he did while he was in office. He followed very closely what his constituency asked of him, and he isn't one to cower and back down on something unpopular. He's a straight shooter and when he tells you something, you can hedge your bets on it. Steve Gill covers Fred Thompson's history as a Senator, as well as the other aspects of his life and careers in politics and hollywood, in his book "The Fred Factor."
I'd advise you read it.
Secondly: FredForAmnesty, you flood this site again and it will be the last time you do it. If you wish to make a point, do so in another manner than with "filler."

Thank you for your visit and your nice comment and having good stuff to link to.
Good one, of course the very peaceful 'Muslims' are justified for destroying the whole world over this. What? The Queen can't Knight someone she likes? She can't knight someone that other people don't like?
But I'm sure Sir Rushdie has mixed emotions on this; the Queen has put him in much greater danger. Maybe he'll wish he had turned it down.
At least this incident will lose the terrorists at least a few more of their dhimmidiot appeasers.
Islam in it's extreme is more political ideology than religion. In that way, it is only a 'Religion of Peace' in that when Islam rules the planet, there will be no one to be at war with. Where they are given an inch, they demand a mile. Islamic countries are becoming more extreme, extremists rule, they just keep quoting the Koran to justify their Jihad.
absurd thought -
God of the Universe says
appease religious killers
continue to spoil them
violent tantrums pay off

Maybe if you stop considering America to be right in everything they do and everyone else wrong, and when you stop looking at everything so Narrow mindedly you could maybe see things for what they are and not how you see them now.
CAIR does what every American praises which is to stand up for a minorities rights which a lot of people seem intent on stripping.
To label an entire religion as terrorist is nothing short of terrorism itself donchaknow...

CAIR has terrorists ties a mile long. Maybe you should type in any search engine for CAIR/Terror ties and WOW, look at what you might learn all on your own. I HAVE done the research and they are a terro organization as plain as al-Qaeda is and should be named as one.
