Our daughter just moved to Wilmington , N.C. from a small town in upstate New York. The most she has dealt with is snow so I am really concerned over where and when this hurricane Hannah will hit. She has friends in Fayetteville, N.C. and I told her to go to classes on Thursday(her final weekly class) and head for Fayetteville, N. C.. Is that prudent advise from her mom? I know nothing about hurricanes, neither does she and we don't want her to have to find out.

the best advice for her would be to contact her emergency services coordinators--she can track the hurricanes on the weather channel; she can also call the weather forecasters in the area and they can tell her who to call in such an emergency

You're more than welcome Alice. I'm a mom and grandmother too, and I'd be worried myself--it's just good to keep the local emergency information handy--no matter how much we want to help from across the country.

Another place she might want to check for the future, surprisingly, is the Department of Homeland Security site on preparing for natural disasters and emergencies. The Weather Channel also has suggestions. Always good to have a plan!

Weather Channel is a great resource for any weather emergency information. It really is a great little channel.
