For example, the film starts with 8:60 (in the middle of a section describing a war situation). Neither the verses before or after are shown (that would clarify the context). The verse right after 8:60, i.e., Quran 8:61 says: "If they resort to peace, so shall you, and put your trust in GOD. He is the Hearer, the Omniscient."
Fighting in Islam is only allowed in self-defense and the Quran forbids aggression (2:190-193, 5:87, 8:61, 4:90, etc.).

An Iranian court has sentenced a teenage rape victim to death by hanging after she weepingly confessed that she had unintentionally killed a man who had tried to rape both her and her niece. The state-run daily Etemaad reported on Saturday that 18-year-old Nazanin confessed to stabbing one of three men who had attacked the pair along with their boyfriends while they were spending some time in a park west of the Iranian capital in March 2005. The teenage girl, however, broke down in tears in court as she explained that she had no intention of killing the man but was merely defending herself and her younger niece from rape, the report said. The court, however, issued on Tuesday a sentence for Nazanin to be hanged to death. Last week, a court in the city of Rasht, northern Iran, sentenced Delara Darabi to death by hanging charged with murder when she was 17 years old. Darabi has denied the charges. In August 2004, Iran's Islamic penal system sentenced a 16-year-old girl, Atefeh Rajabi, to death after a sham trial, in which she was accused of committing "acts incompatible with chastity". The teenage victim had no access to a lawyer at any stage and efforts by her family to retain one were to no avail. Atefeh personally defended herself and told the religious judge that he should punish those who force women into adultery, not the victims. I'll kindly disagree with your statement that radicals are hijacking the message of the Quran. In fact the radicals are fulfilling the law and words of Mohammed and the Hadiths.
The Quran teaches physical war in this world until all are subdued by Allah's army. Anyone who does not follow this doctrine is considered apostates. One only need to look at the nations ruled by Islam from Saudi Arabia to Iran, Sudan and others to fully understand that they obey the law as written. There are no misinterpretations by these followers of strict Sharia law.
It is the moderates who deliberately walk away from the extremist, radical words of Mohammed. Michael many do disagree with me on this, so perhaps I should have phrased it differently.
To rephrase, I have done MANY pieces that have shown moderate peace loving Muslims that denounce and condemn, publicly, the violence perpetrated in the name of Islam....despite what the Koran says, many believe they can practice their religion peacefully and do so.
I have published opened letters from very brave moderate Muslims that have risked their very lives to speak out again the violence and terrorism and if THEY wish to practice the Islamic religion peacefully, then bless them and I believe they should be separated from those that use the religion to murder innocent people.
I cannot ignore the millions that practice peacefully, nor can I lump them in with the murderers.
It is what it is and I will happily supply anyone with the words the moderate Muslims have stated about the extremist.
I am not defending the Koran but I am defending the moderate Muslims right to practice their religion peacefully and interpreting their Koran in a way that promotes peace rather than violence.

We are actually in agreement as to supporting Moderates. I think it is the right thing to do. But this is not going to stop the coming escalations of war in the future.
It will only get worse 5, 10, 20 years down the road. There will be larger conflicts. Until much of the orthodox statements in Quran and especially the Hadiths are discredited and its current orthodox leaders, this Long War will continue.
My main issues was to point out for those that do not know, there is a huge difference between the words, deeds, values of Judeo-Christian text and those of the Quran which calls for world domination by any force necessary. This is very important for us to admit and expose to the world.
Without us knowing such truths, we come to the battle empty handed.
Unlike the Christian reformation which could honestly be based upon values and words of Christ against corrupt leaders, Kigs and Popes. The long war against Islam may be worse and more deadly as the true believers follow the Quran by its words of Mohammed.
Obviously, I can be wrong, but this war has been going on for 1400 years and has only died down at times of weakness by the Arab nations and Islamic leaders as evreytime the West has had to rise up in defense of itself against the onslaught of terror from Islamic traditional and orthodox values. Through the years countries like Holland have lost the Christian roots in the name of Freedom. Less than 10% is today a Christian believer in Holland. And through this development the doors have been opened up for other relegions. Holland has become one of the biggest missionfields of the Islam in Europe.
Old traditional Church buildings have been taken down and making place for new bigg Moskees, showing us the need of the people for religion. The price of the socalled "freedom" will have to be paid in full sooner of later. And the implementation of Islamitich laws depends on the majority of people, everything is possible.

I am not in your shoes. I have read of many of the horrific acts by radical muslims in your country, as well as the appeasers on the left in your political parties.
Personally, I do not advocate pushing all people out of a country based upon any specific identity or religion. That would make me as radical and hateful as the ones I oppose.
That was not my point. Susan is substantially correct in her advocacy to lift up Moderates that condemn and fight against hatred in Islam. Unlike Richard Dawkins, I do not advocate the complete abolition of religions all.
I think the best thing you can do is support your current leaders like Wilders that are now fighting back politically in your country to change things and to challenge the radicals. Challenge their beliefs, their authority and challenge the political appeasers who refuse to address the difficult situation you're living in now. Join other Protesters.
I do understand that many are living in fear in England, France, Sweeden, and your country. But you have to put it aside - fear - and mobilize numbers, inform, distribute and organize.
You have to form your own support groups from the bottom up and support leaders like Wilders who are finally opening their eyes and others to the threat.
I might add, if you're so influenced, support Judeo-Christian values. It is the loss of these values and the equivocation or claiiming that all religions are the same that have the West in trouble today. Secular leaders, humanist and atheist make a huge mistake. Religions are not all equal. Not at all equal and that message must be put out to everyone.
Where Mohammed said to behead a woman for adultry, Christ said, "Go and sin no more" and taught mercy over intolerance, love over anger. He taught all of this from the original Jewish Torah and Prophets.
If there are true Islamic moderates. They will not take offense at these assertions. They will understand that free speech is allowed. They will instead enter into debate, not murder or intimidation. But will counter with examples and be open to reasonable discussions.

I see no problem in challenging the Quran as a legitimate document, or Islam as legitimate. I personally regard it as a false religion, created by a madman who twisted orignal Jewish stories, history and Christian text to support his own insane rule and oppression of others. His words unfortunately inspire millions of others to do the same.
In the Quran it claims that Jews and Christians twisted the truth from the original statements of G_d. Therefore, Mohammed is invalidating 4000 thousand years of Jewish doctrine and then 622 years of Christian doctrine. He essentially called Judeao-Christian writers liars and that only he had the authority from "Allah" to write the truth to the people. That the Torah, the Prophets and Jesus all got it wrong and corrupted the original instructions for life. Only he was right.
At first he said to treat Jews and Christians with respect as they were "people of the book" as he learned from them their oral traditions. But he changed when Jews and Christians refused to convert to his made up religion. He then taught that it was OK for forced conversions, killings and/or oppressing those who do not convert and force them to pay higher taxes to Muslims.
That is all fact, all written in the Quran.
Mohammed was an illiterate man. He could not read/write. He was the original terrorist, authorizing his followers to attack and steal from caravans and cities that would not convert to his made up religion.
The way to win against such blind hatred, rage and intolerance is to continue to expose such lies openly for all to see. To continue to expose the radical, extremist leaders for all their actions, words and awful deeds against humanity.
Another words, Know your Enemy. Then expose your enemy for their corrupt actions. Again, I repeat as Susan stated. There are very good pepole, moderates who do not follow most of these traditions. So you do have to be careful.
The sad truth is the radicals do not attack only the West.
They attack their own moderates. They attack other Arabs, Africans, Asians around the world.
Today, in Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, and around the globe, radical jihadist attack innocents.
There is not one place they did not conquer by force, oppression, and beheadings. This is largely true of any country. Problem is, unlike the Western civilized nations, they have not stopped trying to conquer the world. From history past, from Spain to Africa and Indonesia, they physically attack and force conversion either by conquering of territory, and the assimilation of other cultures women into Islam, or as in the case in Africa today, by population shifts as they grow larger and gain majority they oppress all other religions, atheist and agnostics. This is the pattern for the last 1400 years since Mohammed beheaded his first victim.
Most Muslims, as Susan stated hate this radical ideology. But still, most Islamic nations leaders do not denounce it as openly as they should. In fact, many use the Quran to brainwash whole societies. This is what Saddam did. What Osama believes in and what Iranian leaders believe in. Assad of Syria? I think he just uses the religion to further hiw own purpose - annihilate Israel.
Beheadings, lynchings occur daily thru many of the Islamic cultures and countries on trivial issues that most of us forgive in normal societies, understanding that people make mistakes and must atone for themselves individually and to those they love, or who they've hurt.
But Islam believes in Islamic government, run by Sharia Law. Few leaders buck this trend. The allow the clerics great power in the say of everyday life and oppression of the people, especially women.

Wilt thou then compel mankind, against their will, to believe!" These verses and many others show how much emphasis Islam places on the mind of people, Muslims or non-Muslims.

Dean, you're correct--I think it was Arnold above who stated islam needs victims and so they'll sacrifice their own whenever they feel the need. Just as they train their children as suicide bombers--rather than treating children as they should be treated, they're treated as sacrificial lambs for the slaughter. Meanwhile, no one thinks to question why the so called clerics and leaders are getting fat and happy off American money while sending others to their deaths while they hide out.
Europe will never be part of islamic sharia laws, the majority thinks the same way, but they can't say anything about it without being called a racist.
The problem are the politicians.
Someday there eyes will get open and they will see this threat (hopefully).
Freedom of speech doesn't exist anymore in Europe!!!
