Gravatar It would not matter if Mrs. Clinton thought Obama would beat McCain in a Reaganesque landslide. She'd still try to displace him. The Clintons are about power for themselves, nothing more. Hillary made that plain when she agreed to stay with Bill after the Gennifer Flowers incident...on the condition that if he were to get elected, she have the lead voice in domestic policy.

Gravatar "Is this latest ad a last ditch attempt to create doubt about Obama's electability to simply poise herself to argue the point to the superdelegates that have not committed?

Or does Hillary Clinton truly believe that Barack Obama cannot win against John McCain in November?"

Both. She knows what's coming. She knows the landslide that will put McCain in the White House. She knows Barack Obama will fall flat on his face in every debate (witness today's petulant, childish tirade and keep in mind that BUSH is supposedly lacking in foreign policy strength) and watch his long, painful descent into a 200+ electoral vote loss.

Gravatar I see Bill Richardson is upset because McCain was in Oregon, a liberal stronghold, discussing issues, and the Democrats are still fighting a useless battle, and not in Oregon to rebut McCain (read spin).

It was laughable, at best.

Gravatar And keep in mind that if Obama wins, as much as 20-25% of those identified Democrat voters that Howard Dean and the DNC are "proof that the GOP is done" are going to switch to McCain this fall. They may not vote Democrat for a very long time.

In race after race it's women and African-Americans that keep the Democrats in races. One of those two groups will be deserting the Dems for a generation in 2008.

Hillary supporters say Obama can't win without white women. Obama supporters say Hillary can't win without African-Americans. Far more intelligent Republicans will tell you they need both groups and simply aren't going to be able to unite them.

Hillary is far too calculating, Obama is far too naive and petulant. McCain wins big, the serious question at this point is how long his coattails are.

Gravatar Lightwave, I've pretty much agreed with your analysis of the situation thus far. There may be a fly in the ointment, though, and that fly is named Bob Barr. While he sounds pretty good (I listened to him on Boortz the other day), he said something which IMMEDIATELY turned me off, completely and totally. That was that our military is nothing but occupiers. When Boortz called him on it, and basically chastised him for it, Barr was completely unrepentant. Unfortunately, he MAY change his tune, so to speak, for expediency and that comment may not get a lot of play, thus sucking a lot of otherwise sincere conservatives into that trap.

Plus, McCain is showing real weakness with his embrasure of the global warming hysteria, in spite of rapidly emerging proof it's all a hoax and is part of the earth's natural cycles. Add that to McCain's decidedly uninspiring speeches (he REALLY needs a speech coach) and it's still possible McCain could lose. Also, most people don't want a candidate who's "real" in his emotions and think of McCain's temper as a liability or "proof" of his senility. While I personally prefer a "cranky old man" with his finger on the button, not taking nonsense from the kumbaya crowd, how do these liabilities or perceived liabilities work in the equation?

Gravatar Clinton has taken Kentucky and Obama is right there in Oregon.
The Democratic race for nomination is still very much alive – and most likely to be decided by superdelegates – as CNN points out clearly

http://edition.cnn.com/2008/POLI...wrap/ index.html

If you ’re tired of waiting around for those super delegates to make a decision already, go to LobbyDelegates.com and push them to support Clinton or Obama

If you haven't done so yet, please write a message to each of your state's superdelegates at http://www.lobbydelegates.com

Obama Supporters:

Sending a note to current Obama supporters lets them know it's appreciated, sending a note to current Clinton supporters can hopefully sway them to change their vote to Obama, and sending a note to the uncommitted folks will hopefully sway them to vote for Obama. It's that easy...

Clinton Supporters too …. !

It takes a moment, but what's a few minutes now worth to get Clinton in office?! Those are really worth !
