This is one of the DUMBEST concepts I have ever heard of. What school systems are doing is basing these drills on fire drills and tornado drills, which actually aren't all that frightening to children because they can see that there is no real fire or tornado.
An armed gunman prowling about is a different story altogether. There are better ways to prepare a disaster plan for this sort of situation that DON'T include using the children as test subjects.
The stupidity of the public education system never fails to amaze me.
