Why did Bush not get system in place for legal immigrants to take the place of illegals in industries hardest hit?
Bush wants a crisis. His greek chorus is already wailing. Then he will say we need the labor, lets have amnesty. And he will increase visas 10 fold so to put more Americans out of work with cheap labor. And he want a "temporary worker program" where they gain citizenship? How temporary is that?
Google North American Union. There is a persistent rumor that Bush has illegally entered into a treaty with Mexico and Canada to have open borders by 2010. Read up on it. Supposedly there is an administrtive office set up already writing regulations for this new "union". It is enough to scare you to death.
I've covered the North American Union and the Trans Texas/ Mexico to Canada corridor on here, Betty. We're absolutely opposed to it.

I am glad you have covered this North American Union. But what I don't understand is how Bush has managed to avoid having it ratified by Congress. It appears to be a treaty with foreign countries. Or has he just decided the constitution does not apply? And if so, why is Congress not up in arms about this?
Actually, in theory, an economic union might make some sense, depending on how it was structured. But the European Union took 50 years to build. They did it slowly, and integrated slowly. Also, no country that was not equivalent in economy, political structure, values etc could not join until they improved. Spain took about 10 years to get up to speed. Canada and the USA are on par, but Mexico is third world country, with a corrupt government, very basis economy, and is far from having the same values as the USA and Canada. Maybe in 10 to 20 years Mexico could bring itself up to a first world standard. But you cannot mix two societies that are so terrible disparate.
Anyway, in Europe, eveyone knew what the government was up to. They had referendum of whether to join etc. It seems that the American public is being kept in the dark on this.
I don't understand it.
There are a great many members of the media and in Congress who are invested in this as well. That's why we're not hearing about it.

If you are harmed by a ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT, you should be made whole by the sancturary city and business hiring them. Governments number one job is protecting our families. They are not interested in doing their JOB.

Kelly, when ILLEGAL immigrants break the first laws in entering the country, THAT is what they do to deserve it.
When millions of immigrants come and work within the system and obtain legal status, they are welcomed with open arms and helped in any way we can help them.
You obviously need to learn the difference between legal immigration and ILLEGAL immigration before you address this topic.

I'm tired of all this illegal immigrant crap. They flood in like rats abuse our system, sufficate our schools and bring down our neighborhoods. They don't bring any money with them only grief and disese. God willing there will be a huge natural disaster in Mexico and Mother nature will cleanse the open soar that is Leper mark on America. To hell with the gangs, mexican army and any other low life non educated piece of worm ridden filth that dare take advantage of the U.S. and it's citizens. We need to close our borders up tight and keep them closed. The American Government needs to call on the National guard and have them permeanently stationed at the border with a "Shoot now, ask questions later policy" Give those bastards a taste of their own medicine. No more Mr. nice Country. Trust me, we have our quota filled on Mexicans, we don't need any more nanny's or gardeners
