John Warner is a moderate, not a conservative. He's been lukewarm on Iraq since the political climate became more intense in Washington against the war.
His idea, if you look at the suggestion to pull back 5000 troops by Christmas in context, is really asinine. How flubbing the mission in Baghdad by taking away a battalion of much needed troops securing the city will help the political process is a mystery. All this does is make Iraqi officials disillusioned with Americans when they seem to be more concerned with politics than helping Iraq. Destabilizing the area cannot help the political process but will frustrate it.
On top of that, Warner as a vet should know that pandering to the heartstrings of the military by using Christmas as a redeployment home date is truly embarrassing. He's not scoring any points with the military on this one.
You would know being a military family Amy. He doesn't care, he is just being used to counter the constant barrage of Democratic politicians that have come back speaking of progress.

Perhaps he and Reid can host another Pajama Party?

LOL...I saw that in both articles--but I'm talking he was one of the ORIGINALS back in JANUARY 07 as well...His WFR status is long and "bloody"--maybe the harry reid video "blood on your hands" needs to be updated with this moron included.
I'm a little late on this but what Amy says is exactly what ticks me off about this whole thing. The way they use us in this manner.
Logically we understand that this is garbage talk and that it will never happen because there's no military merit in such a move.
But emotionally, boy it sure would be nice if my husband was one of the ones warner wants to send home by Christmas. Or is he going to be one of the ones left behind with less support?
Thank you mr.warner, for your illogical words that do nothing to give us support. Try offering words like Senator Leiberman.
Note to all Senators: Stop playing on our emotions, after 4 years the majority of us no longer run on emotion, we run on logic because that is how we are able to endure what we must endure.
I don't beleive it says anywhere in your job discriptions anything about dictating troop movement. So sit down STFU and do what we hired you to do. If you don't remember what that is go read your job discription. Stop trying to over ride the Consitution. Stop saying things in public that emboldens our enemies, demoralizes our military and disheartens our allies.
