It saddens me that yet another child has fallen victim to someone they thought they could trust. I am hopeful that the tragic and unnecessary death of Brooke Bennett will prompt parents and other adults to use caution, common sense and sound judgment when deciding who will be allowed access to their precious little ones. I also hope this tragedy will cause lawmakers and policymakers to re-examine existing laws and policies pertaining to child sex offenders to make it less likely that child predators like Michael Jacques will have the opportunity to become repeat offenders.

He should be torured in a most painful way over avery long period of time. Then he should be executed in a manner that is extremely painful and one that takes again a long period of time before he is allowed to expire. This man deserves nothing less than this and more. I would be more than happy to volunteer my services for free and or advice on how to achieve this

I was hoping that either Brooke got away and ran and hid. Or, that the 2 guys, Step-Father and Uncle, knew where she was because they were hiding her.
Neither happened.
And these both deserve Death Penalty but the ridiculous Liberals will whine, gripe and yell scream and get their way, the Evil men involved will get to sit in prison instead of the Death Penalty.
I hope bleeding heart Liberals don't go and buy them a computer for their cells.
Oh, forgot! Prisoners don't like child molesters or child murders!
They will not like prison very much. Good!

So sad. And some surprisingly very naive comments. Take it from one who knows unfortunately 1st hand. Statisticly (and there huge)most molestations happen in the home, or from someone close or known. Only about 10% are strangers 97% repeat the offence. You do not "get better" in prison. They have no choice. There are no children walking down the halls. I don't know how they base their parole decision, other than I did not molest a child while I was
here. But we can't put them to death. Anyone want to rethink this? rape IS murder for a life time. It takes your soul.

Well, what the hell can you expect from this ungodly state of socialists and secularists. Bill O'Reilly warned of sexual predators coming out of the walls due to the lenient laws of Vermont. You can say it is the government but the blood of this child is on the hands every liberal voter in Vermont.

First, Brooke rest in peace. You will be better off with your Maker.
I am disgusted with our country, elected officials, and judges.
When will we protect our children? Castration or death will fix the problem. This man was previously convicted for child sex crimes. Brooke's death could have been avoided. If it were my child, I'd kill him before trial (sorry so graphic - I'm angry).
Which presidential candidate will propose it / nominate Supreme Ct. judges to permit it?

Poor Baby!
Her mother and aunt need to go straight to hell with the uncle and step father. They all need the death pen. In fact I would hand over the bullets. 0.45 cents each! It would take less than 2.00 dollars to put an end to this situation.
And as far as the caring stepmother and father "Whatever!" There is another 0.90 cents. For less than 5.00 bucks we get rid of 5 child modestors.

By the way, sometimes you have to really ruffle feathers to get change. Vermont needs change. They are in the top 5 of the worst regarding laws that protect children. Is that so wrong, to want change for the safety of children?

No Denise, you are correct in having to really ruffle (and even SCATTER) feathers sometimes to get change. Vermont "photographs" beautifully in commercials and such--however, I've never had the chance to visit.
Last week's Supreme Court ruling regarding the death penalty for child rapists thoroughly disgusted me--not to mention out and out enraged me.
These kinds of crimes are becoming more and more common. Even though I work in law/law enforcement and have pretty much seen it all, I still don't understand what rock these "people" are crawling out from under. I'm certainly not naive enough to think this is a "new" phenomenon, but it certainly seems to be more prevalent. I have to wonder how much true impact the liberal rulings have had in this prevalence and it's times like this I can truly side with the vigilantes.
No, Denise, you are absolutely correct in your desire to get laws back to protect these young victims and actually punish the attackers--I'm right there with you.

The rock that those people crawled out of, is that many times molestation breeds molestation. It twists your mind, you never look at sex the same way again. That's the problem, people who haven't been molested (thank god) cannot understand that (ie) judges. And once others see how little punishment there actually is, they are very easy to recrute into their brutal sick world. And they should be put in with the general public in prison. that makes me so mad! How dare they protect them once they get in. They were sentanced. let the cards fall where they may. That's another reason they don't care. They know their getting out, and know they'll be protected while in! I always used to say, adopt the Japanes rule, if a man was caught pick, pocketing he was beating by the crowd and thrown in jail for an extended period. They had crime maybe, once a month and no murder. But now they wanted to Westernize themselves, become more modern, and crime has sky rocketed. In the last year they have had 4 knife attacks alone. We are a lovely influence we are. I can't see our country getting any better, but that's just me. And that's what happens, you become a totally negative, depressed, damaged soul.

play, this isn't the first time we've had articles like this on this site, so you're kinda late to the table in your preaching. if you read what i wrote denise, i am very well aware of all the "causes" and "excuses", etc., etc., etc., for sexual predation.
I also know there is one cure and one cure only--death. The recidivism rate is 98-99.9% and there is no rehab. Yeah, we are well aware, and frankly, I have no sympathy for a predator for any reason, including "that's how they were raised". At some point, said predator has to take responsibility for the choice he or she makes to act on their impulse, not continue to make excuses. My sympathies lie entirely with the victims and the victims' families who are subject to the sickness of these predators.
You'd be surprised how well educated judges are in this subject as well, even though you don't see it.
Bottom line--the predator eventually makes the choice to either "give in" to their impulse or not. It's not something they can't control.

I am late. And they certainly can control it. My point was it does change you ereparably, and you cannot "fix" it. I'm curious as to how you are so well aware as to take me to task, and if you work in a court as you seem to know why these Judges let out peretrators after 2 or more offences? If they are so educated in the damage it does, you would think they would lobby for much harsher punishments.

From the beginning, nothing about this story made sense. It was interesting that we never saw the mother on tv until last night at the vigil (we live in NH). There always seemed to be more to the story. Sick, disgusting people without morals and yes, I would include the mother and aunt. They had to know something....

I am an officer of the court because of my job. The judges have no choice when it comes to sentencing guidelines--that is the legislature's job to set the guidelines, so if you have a problem with your judge, you take it to your representative and get it taken care of. Judges are not allowed to lobby legislators as a conflict of interest.
Before you even ATTEMPT to TRY to take me to task, you better do your homework, particularly in the legal arena.
That's number 1.
Number two, obviously you didn't read everything I posted or you would have seen the only way to "fix" the predator is to kill him or her. End of story and that is backed up from study after study after study over decades.

"Police do call the death suspicious" No really? So she didn't bury herself in the ground just before she died of natural causes? Seems pretty normal to me. I understand the police are pretty tight-lipped and ambiguous while in the middle of an investigation, but I think it is pretty obvious that this is a suspicious death. Probably one of the dumbest "DUH" comments I have heard in a while. I wonder if he had to get clearance from his boss to drop this bombshell. This is a tragic event and I hope for justice for her family, but with dumb comments like this from the esteemed police force makes me worry that they will screw up the investigation and someone will walk free.

Play, yes, I agree with what you're saying--some of your post came across as kind of snarky and if i mistook it, i apologize.
These kinds of incidents completely sicken me. I'm personally so sick and tired of the liberal laws--and the libs in office aren't going to change them until there's a serious backlash, i.e., in the form of some sort of serious vigilantism. Were this one of my children, there is nothing on this earth that would stop me hunting this filth down and personally torturing the snot out him AND/OR her before killing them very, very slowly. And I would gladly do the time for it. I've told my boss this many a time, he may be representing me someday if this ever happened to a family member of mine.
I would gladly pay the price to rid the world of a predator.
Unfortunately, our females have always been targets. Now, the lines are being crossed and our young boys and young men are becoming targets more and more frequently.
I wish I had the answer. I really do.

Or keeping them in prison forever, KC. That would solve the problem too. Life in Prison with NO parole. That would keep them away from children, they couldn't rape anyone (except other cons), and public would be safe.

Its no shock these things happen in the usa--usa has become a perverted abnormal nation where men "marry" men women "marry" women--a woman who "became a man" had a baby --etc--in Everett Washington a lesbian raped a 14 year old girl----this Brooke Bennett had 2 or 3 "fathers" & a mother how had many "boyfriends"--the usa is now a weak immoral nation--its no longer normal--in Palm Isle Florida a 60 year old usa woman Adrienne La Flamme was arrested for seducing teen boys she taught in a boys prison--as young as age 14----if you do research on the usa--as I do--you find the destruction of normal moral proper family life in the usa has made all these things happen--millions who do not reside in the usa are aware of this---which--in the end--proves usa is an immoral nation ---no shame--no fear of God--& controlled by non Christian leaders & laws--& this is the nation that try to "save Iraq"?? what a comedy

This is probably a late listing, I don't know if anyone is still on this artical, But M Beth I'm afraid I do come off as sarcastic. I have been Agorophobic for so long, I have no one to sensor me. I have the problem of reading 4 or more news papers a day, 3 news casts, and then news shows. I have to make myself stop periodicly, for when you see so much, and so many times it's about the same perpatrator, it just feels like nothings being done. I always thought Judges had more clout than they do. I do know that it can be past down generation to generation unless the cycle is broken. My sister and I broke the cycle by speaking up. It's the only way. You have to speak up and make sure your'e heard!

Play, I do understand. My daughter was a victim as well and once her attacker was taken care of, she received immense amounts of counseling and learned to fight back and speak up. This is an issue too close to my heart. In the fields I've chosen, and perhaps somewhat because of, I also can be extremely sarcastic--and often not realize it.
Lejos, you obviously have blinders on if you can't see the liberal agenda is what has been at work. Until the advent of the true internet (not the one Al Gore allegedly invented), people didn't have instant access to information. Now, we do and those of us who are conservative are trying to get this country back on track. This is not some new phenomenon and to imply it is solely a problem in the US is simply stupid. It started in the 50's with Madeline Murray O'Hare and has snowballed since. Why don't you take a look at Europe and the Middle East, which sanction child rape and abuse before you start your anti-America frothing.
Real Americans want America back and are fighting to do so. What the hell are you doing other than running your mouth?

As this country moves further and further from a love and respect of God and each other, our society prepares itself for the fringe element to become mainstream. Good heavens, look at how pornography is now becoming mainstream, only 20 years ago, you wouldn't even THINK about discussing that filth in public and now it's everywhere, driven by our lust and greed.
It's going to get a LOT worse before it can get better, if it can get better. Only if this entire nation turns back to respect for each other and a love for God and His ways will we ever be able to recover.
I fear for my children and their children. I pray, but with little hope, that our country, our society turns back to God in love for Him. Nothing else can save us.
