The sad part here is that Joe is so far from being a typical middle class American or a typical small business owner that concentrating on him and his taxes obscures the results for the rest of us. Of course, a bit of good, old-fashion, tried and true Keynesian stimulus will make us all better off.
And another one misses the point--the point being when did it become a federal issue to ask a question of a candidate? Why is this man being savaged and raked over the coals for asking a question? The Left just doesn't get it. This country is made up of "Joes and Janes". I saw Huckabee and Joe was great. In fact, he came across as very well spoken, educated, knowledgeable of the issues, and not afraid of the microphone or camera. This man could go far.
As Americans it is our right and duty to put politicians on the spot. NOT the other way around. The truth is that McCain is the one that brought Joe into the spotlight and exposed his issues with taxes, licensing and the law. If his campaign had properly vetted Joe before making him an election issue this guy would have been able to voice his opinion and go on with his life no matter who he decided to vote for. Did McCain's camp ask "Joe" for permission to put his private life in the international media or did they just assume that it was ok to serve their own best interest? Just being associated with McCain had made Joe's life harder.
Rejj, I have to strongly disagree with your comments. McCain used Obama's RESPONSE TO JOE as his point, not what Joe does, whether he has a license, or what taxes he may owe. It is Obama's RESPONSE of spreading the wealth that McCain tried to hammer home, not Joe the Plumber as an individual. That's the difference!
