Gravatar You know that the leftards are going to go monkey-shat over Palin's daughter being pregnant. Would love to see what they are saying, but, most of them are blocked by the work server.

Gravatar I really don't think the left want to go there. They really don't want to awaken the conservatives on this issue. You NEVER attack our children. We all have personal issues to deal with, and that is what this is personal. But i am ready for them. Phone numbers of media, email and fingers ready to defend. Now is the time for conservative women, men, moms, and dads to unite.

Gravatar What do you call parents that their children Abstinence Only?

Grandparents!

Gravatar According the buzz at RCP, Stinky and No Brain are already being called out over this. The main comparison is Sarah standing behind her child with love and compassion and Stinky saying he didn't want his kids punished with a baby.

Good for those showing Stinky's hypocrisy and the stark contrast between REAL parents and elitist snobs.

Ok, so Bristol is now pregnant. She and her bf are going to marry. Good for them. She felt comfortable enough in her relationship with her parents she could actually go to them and talk to them about this, knowing perhaps her parents would be disappointed in her yet also knowing they love her and will be supportive of her.

That's called parenting folks. Your children are going to make choices as they grow, some good, some bad, some life changing. Whether or not your children can come to you and talk to you when they realize the ramifications of their choices is the measure of what kind of parent you are.

I like what Sarah says here:

We ask the media to respect our daughter and Levi’s privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates.”

This also shows the Palins are well aware of the idiocy being tossed around by the left. They have given their "warning"--so to speak--of our children are off limits. I don't think they'll be so polite should it continue and yet I also think they'll be able to make their point VERY effectively--should they need to--if this bashing of their children continues.

Good for them. Bristol--congratulations on your child and your upcoming marriage. It's going to be hard, but you have a loving family backing you up, and knowing that, you and your fiance and your child are going to be just fine.

Gravatar I can't thank McCain enough for his pick of Palin and the gift that just keeps on giving...this is only Day 3 and just the beginning of the scrutiny..the irony never ends that McCain compared Obama to Britney Spears in an ad, yet it's his running mate who seems to have been schooled in parenting from Spears and her mother.

Gravatar All I can say is that if it were a reversal of chairs on this contraversy the Conservatives would have a field day. They went after minor comments of Michele Obama knowing full well that is was not what she meant and went after it like sharks to bloody meat....
So , I feel like Palin was a poor choice , there were far better prepared female candidates in the Republican Party. She is NOT prepared to take on the presidency if you McCain who has numerous health issues at any given time something may arise.
I think it is an afront to the presidency that she was picked . And although she seems like she is on her way to becoming someone to contend in the future ...she is not the one....
and will prove to be another bad decision on McCain's list of many!!!!!

So you're comparing the decision to go after a 17yo minor child to the reaction of people against a 40+ adult who makes stupid, asinine remarks. Yeah, you're real relevant--and an idiot to boot to even try to spin that comparison

Gravatar Tbogg- Attacks on teenage girls will be removed as will you Tbogg....buh bye idiot.---Spree

Gravatar Perhaps if her religious wingnut parents and their cronie supported some type of education other than abstinance only she might not be standing there 5 months pregnant.

But hey - the social consevatives will forget the who thing because she isn't having an abortion (which I am not advocating - I am happy she is having it).

Hey, I guess they are just happy none of them are gay!

Gravatar "Good for Sarah Palin for getting out in front of this"

The line of the day.

Gravatar Ok tbogg, that was just funny...lol

The rest of y'all are showing just how terrified you are that your candidate has completely and totally lost. She has the brains, the smarts, the advantage of being an "ordinary person" instead of political elitist, she doesn't cover up facts, she's a straight shooter--her family is real and so is her street cred--and y'all just can't stand that.

Yeah, you should be terrified--she resonates with the real American, the general population.

Gravatar Dobson reaction, adding it to the post as an update and putting it here.

“In the 32-year history of Focus on the Family, we have offered prayer, counseling and resource assistance to tens of thousands of parents and children in the same situation the Palins are now facing. We have always encouraged the parents to love and support their children and always advised the girls to see their pregnancies through, even though there will of course be challenges along the way. That is what the Palins are doing, and they should be commended once again for not just talking about their pro-life and pro-family values, but living them out even in the midst of trying circumstances.

“Being a Christian does not mean you’re perfect. Nor does it mean your children are perfect. But it does mean there is forgiveness and restoration when we confess our imperfections to the Lord. I’ve been the beneficiary of that forgiveness and restoration in my own life countless times, as I’m sure the Palins have.

“The media are already trying to spin this as evidence Gov. Palin is a ‘hypocrite,’ but all it really means is that she and her family are human. They are in my prayers and those of millions of Americans.”

They are rallying!!!! The more the left slam her, the more determined and excited the far right is getting.

The left will never learn to stick to the issues, these personal attacks are turning even their own off.

Gravatar I have been down this road. I also have a beautiful, energetic 7&1/2 year old grandd-daughter. It happens, even when we do our best. But my daughter would not even think of having an abortion. Two wrongs do not make a right.
For "Mr." Sullivan: The invite is: In the street, stripped to the waist and we go for it.
I win: "Mr." Sullivan packs up and goes home to retire from the media.
"Mr." Sullivan wins: That ain't gonna happen
Sometimes there is no substitute for a thorough ass kicking.

Gravatar I'm sorry but this just soured me to her. Not her daughter getting knocked up (shows a lack of maturity and common sense in that family), but the fact that they are PROUD of it. What type of decent person would be proud that they 17 year old daughter is pregnant, outside of marriage? If it was my child, I would have hung my head in shame.

Sarah and her husband's reaction is typical of the parents of today. It's ok to fuck around and get knocked up. Forget marriage, forget morals, forget about birth control. We will just spin it into a happy thing. IT IS NOT A GOOD THING FOR A TEENAGE TO GET PREGNANT!!!!

I'm sorry, but if this is the morality that she proposes, I want no part of it.

Gravatar Katie you just showed utter lack of respect, morals, and etc for others by the language you used!....You're the one who should hang your head. I'll not comment on other peoples raising of their children. Like they say, I'll tend to my business and you should do the same!!!!!!!!!

Gravatar Katie, just my take on this--my daughter is not married to the father of her children. Admittedly, she isn't a teenager. However, I wasn't proud she had chosen this way, not at all. Still, I supported her decision to keep her children and at least stay with the father to raise the children in a relatively intact home. I'm still ashamed she's not married and she's close to 30.

Was she raised that way? No. These are choices she made. So I made the best of her choices and made my own choice to be happy in the new lives.

Funny thing is, and I do laugh about this almost daily--the child did use birth control, even to having her tubes tied--and still got pregnant!

I think maybe--imho--the Palins are just trying to make the best of a bad situation, of a bad choice that was made. It would be horrible to chastise this child in public, particularly considering what places like KOS have already done, to put a decent public face on the situation while they deal with the full ramifications in private.

Gravatar This is not over. There are still many questions. Why not just announce that I'm going to be a grandma and my daughter is pregnant? She is five months pregnant and the wedding plans are just starting?

I don't know. I'm a little worried that this is just the beginning. I don't think they vetted this woman. The drunk driving arrest by the husband is no big deal, but if too many of these things come out in one week, it will just know the shine off her image.

And Republicans were having such a good week.

Gravatar merlisa, we still are, have you seen how people are rallying behind her and her family because of people like you attacking? Keep it up, even your own candidate understands the damage his so called "supporters" are doing and has declared "children off limits".

I encourage you to continue to ignore him because HIS numbers will suffer and he will lose the election and it will be because of people like you.

THAT is change I can believe in!!!

Gravatar The difference Miss Beth is that your daughter is an adult and made that decision as an adult. Sarah Palin places herself to be a beacon of morality. If this is her idea of morality then we are in trouble. She should be ashamed that she didn't teach her daughter about birth control, and that she didn't drum home the message about sex before marriage.

I still support McCain, because Obama is worse, but his choice of VP leaves me cold. Plus there are rumors of her hubby's infidelity and that her own marriage may be on the rocks.

They should have given her a very close looking into before coming to any decision.

BTW: For the record. My daughters are 26 and 24. My oldest is getting married, not pregnant, yes living with her bf (it took myself and his mother a couple of years to convince them to marry) and he has been her ONLY sexual partner.
My youngest is 24, not married, never been pregnant and still a virgin. What did I do right and she do wrong? I taught my girls that sex is wonderful, but is an ADULT passtime. And I taught them about birth control AND abstinence. When BOTH are taught the teen pregnancy and abortion rates drop.

Gravatar Why was there no forgiveness for the Christian man, Bill Clinton when he showed poor judgement? All this talk about forgiveness--- seems to depend on WHO the sinner is and what party he/she belongs to.

Gravatar Katie, I disagree totally. A parent may not be proud of all their children's decisions, but they should always be proud of their kids in general and never turn against them...that is what good parents do.

Reports show that she informed Mccain at their private meeting on Wednesday before he chose her and he stood by his choice because on the ISSUES, which is what counts, she stands on the right sode of things.

Have you never made a bad decision? Have you never done something that you wished you could have handled differently? Would you like people to continue to throw that at you for the rest of your life, especially your own parents that are supposed to offer you moral support?

I find that to be a "holy" attitude and think that no one is perfect and no one makes the right choice every time.

Gravatar Mamma, some of us didn't jump on the Bill is Satan bandwagon, so maybe you should learn who you are talking to before spouting off with idiocy that doesn't apply to those of this blog.

Gravatar What does Bill Clinton have to do with anything on this topic? Talk about reaching! Sheesh!

Katie, yes, my daughter is an adult. She was taught as thoroughly as I was on both abstinence and birth control and sex being an adult pastime. She was also taught about the dangers of drugs--from my pharmacist mom who had all the actual information not the hype. She still chose--even as a teenager--to mess around with both sex and drugs and at one point we went over three years not even speaking to each other.

I was so angry at her over her choices, particularly knowing the foundation she had been given-truly angry. It's taken a lot of time to overcome that anger and get on with our lives--what's past is past and can never be changed, after all. I'm thankful she didn't become pregnant as a teen and I'm very thankful she's got two degrees under her belt, as well, so she's capable of earning a living.

No matter how angry I was with her, though, how disappointed I was in her choices, I still refused to put her down in public--my mother did that to me repeatedly and for minor things, like getting a "B" instead of an "A"--I knew how it felt and vowed I'd never do that to my own. And I'm not a public person--how much more intense is that feeling of personal failure when you are a public person?

Gravatar Katie,
I'm with you. Sarah Palin and her husband should be ASHAMED, not proud. They have failed as parents. That girl should have had some sex education. Teaching abstention didn't work, as it seldom does.

Gravatar And you were there while the children were being taught and know exactly what was on the syllabus, huh Mamma? Or just sitting your fat ass back in judgement? Oh and where's your "forgiving" spirit now, huh, or isn't it convenient for you since you were asked a question and didn't answer? And you know for a fact that in private they're not ashamed or anything else that may transpire in the privacy of their home--what did you bug their house and invade their privacy some more? Are you a fly on the wall with all knowledge?

Get off the sanctimonious, holier than thou attitude Mamma. Now.

Gravatar Well said Beth.. I love seeing people that think they can sit in judgment of others in relation to their children.

Sickens me to no end.

Gravatar These people think what, that the Palins should throw their child under the bus? That's what Stinky does, after all, and isn't he just the one we're supposed to be looking to for "guidance"?

Good grief. They spew conservatives are so judgmental and refuse to see their own faults.

Gravatar Gone.

Gravatar .
This is going to be fun. History will be made, one way or another, and it looks more likely now that it will be the right history.

Even more Hillary supporters will go for McCain now. Obama is no longer a near certainty. Heaven forbid something happens to McCain, but I believe Palin would rise to the occasion. She has the right attitude. Everyone knows Obama is NOT ready for POTUS, Palin is only for the VP. Look at Dan Quayle.

YEY SARAH PALIN! YEY John McCain! Great pick! The 1st woman for the GOP VP? SCORE!

She's conservative! SCORE! She's a Governor! SCORE! She's pro-drilling! She's a hunter! SCORE! She's a hockey Mom and played basketball in school! SCORE! She's pro-life! And she respects women! Gravatar Susan, I am very glad that they haven't turn their backs on her like so many parents have. But I'm disappointed in Palin. She has placed herself up as a champion of morality and family. From the reports I'm getting from friends in Alaska, hubby is cheating on her, her future son-in-law doesn't want to marry the girl, and she isn't totally clean either.

I wouldn't be so angry if she didn't put herself on the morality pedestal. I'm more angry at McCain for not checking this all out first.

Gravatar Does anyone really understand what this could mean in November. American politics is not a clean thing. Dirty politics is the norm. Just look at elections past. That is one reason I'm angry. I was furious at the allegations that Sarah's son wasn't hers (dirty politics), but angry that she put herself up on a pedestal claiming the moral high ground. In American politics, this is great fodder for the left-wing moonbats.

Gravatar The statement was quite clear that they are proud that she decided not to kill her baby with an abortion, not that she got pregnant in the first place. Yes her daughter made a mistake but the mistake is done and past and by all appearances they are moving forward past that mistake as best they can. Anything beyond that is an internal family matter. As for the other rumors, they are likely false and spreading rumors (as some are doing even here) is just as much of a moral failing or sin as adultery.

Gravatar Katie, you of all people should know better than to believe Gossip especially after the whole Kos business, I am disappointed in you.

Who among us is perfect?

You have just done what Kos did yesterday, repeated Gossip with a shred of proof offered.

How disappointing.

Gravatar Richard I am glad someone else sees what was said and doesn't try to twist it into what wasn't said.

Thanks.

Gravatar A couple of points:

1) How do any of us know that THEY were not using birth control? Any of the nay-sayers: Were you with the young couple?

2) I count a child born as a blessing, no matter..

3) People questioning Palin's parenting skills/reactions to this.

IF the Palin family hung their heads in "shame", that tells the unborn child they are a mistake. WRONG!

Obama says a baby is a punishment. Palin says a child is a blessing.

As parents we teach our children values, so they can make wise decisions. Should we turn our backs on them when they make choices we don't agree with? I dare any one of those slamming the Palins right now to assert that they have never made an unwise choice. SOME choices carry far-reaching consequences. Conceiving and having a child SHOULD be a private, family matter. Yes, even for public figures (especially their children).

Finally, to all those self righteous critics: Let him who is guiltless cast the first stone.

Gravatar The teengage girls may make mistakes but that don't make them bad. The question is when the candidate(s) preach(es) Christian family values, they don't mean it.Hypocrisy should be shunned and not promoted. When someone talks of morality and family values he/she shouldn't be proud of an unmarried teengage girl getting pregnant. Why blaming the liberals (?) - they don't preach one thing and do the opposite.Only hypocrites will vote a candidate who doesn't go by the word he professes.

Gravatar Masud--when your name is Jesus Christ, Son of God, Saviour, you can judge. Until then, stfu.

Gravatar Beth? Having fun yet? (ducks) I better be careful, you live too close to piss you off!@!!

Gravatar These loons are coming out of the woodwork in droves! Must have come in after their labor day bbq's, half blitzed, and decided they were going to promote crap.

Yeesh! They are doing one thing, though--they are solidifying the base around McCain, not splitting it!

Gravatar Susan, I'm angry that McCain didn't check her out for more than 15 minutes. He should have checked out her whole background, brought this out to the press (secretly of course) and then slowly vented if she was the right choice. On paper she looks good, but in reality she might be a liability.

Her daughter's CHOICE to have the baby is a good one. The parents choice to have a shotgun wedding for her may not be. I just hope that the couple have a good marriage, but many times these marriages don't work out.

As for gossip, what else is there to enjoy in this world? If this was Obama we would be laughing ourselves silly.

Gravatar You know what katie... how about you read what they did instead of "assuming" they didn't do it?????

http://www.washingtontimes.com/n...iew-of-palin-1/

Okies.... Everything was out there...what would YOU have done differently??????????????????

ST. PAUL, MINN. (AP) - Sarah Palin's path to the Republican ticket started with her name on a list _ and a team of some 25 people poring through public records searching for trouble spots without her knowledge. Then came the 70-question survey and a nearly three-hour interview.

The review officially ended Thursday, when John McCain asked the Alaska governor to be his running mate.

In the days since, Republicans and Democrats have privately questioned whether the Arizona senator chose the first-term governor without fully looking into her background. McCain's campaign has vehemently defended the review.

Arthur B. Culvahouse Jr., the lawyer who conducted the review, told The Associated Press in an interview Monday that Palin underwent a "full and complete" examination before McCain chose her. Asked whether everything that came up as a possible red flag during the review already has been made public, Culvahouse said: "I think so. Yeah, I think so. Correct."

Stoking the notion of a rushed examination, a timeline issued by the campaign indicated that McCain initially met Palin in February, then held one phone conversation with her last week before inviting her to Arizona, where he met with her a second time and offered her the job.

Raising additional questions was the campaign's disclosure Monday that Palin's unmarried 17-year-old daughter was pregnant, and reports that Palin's husband, Todd, had been arrested in 1986, when he was 22, for driving under the influence of alcohol.

McCain's campaign has dispatched a team of a dozen communications operatives and lawyers to Alaska.

Steve Schmidt, a senior adviser, said the campaign always planned to send a "jump team" to the eventual running mate's home state to work with the nominee's staff, help with information requests from local and national reporters, and answer questions about documents that were part of the review.

Culvahouse said Palin's review, like others, began with a team of two dozen people culling information from public sources. The team reviewed speeches, financial records, tax information, litigation, investigations, ethical charges, marriages and divorces, for a number of potential running mates.

For Palin specifically, the team studied online archives of the state's largest newspapers, including the Anchorage Daily News, but didn't request paper archives for Palin's hometown newspaper for fear the secret review would become public.

Among the findings: Palin had once received a citation for fishing without a license.

Reports on each candidate _ 40-some pages and single spaced _ then were reviewed by McCain, Schmidt, campaign manager Rick Davis, and top advisers Mark Salter and Charlie Black.

Palin then was sent a personal data questionnaire with 70 "very intrusive" questions, Culvahouse said. She also was asked to submit a number of years of federal and state tax returns. The campaign also checked her credit.

Culvahouse then conducted a nearly three-hour interview. He said the first thing Palin volunteered was that her daughter was pregnant, and she also quickly disclosed her husband's two-decade-old DUI arrest.

The public search also unearthed details of the Legislature's investigation into the dismissal of Alaska's public safety commissioner, allegedly because he would not fire Palin's former brother-in-law as a state trooper.

Culvahouse said he asked follow-up questions, and "spent a lot of time with her lawyer" on the matter.

"We came out of it knowing all that we could know at the time," he said.

Throughout the process, the campaign said, Davis had multiple conversations with Palin.

OMY, she got cited for no fishing license.... THROW HER UNDER THE BUS!!!!!!

Please let us know what you would have done differently.

Gravatar Beth, sitemeter is going nuts on me here. If nothing else told me how perfect a pick Palin was, the reactions to it from the left, have just made that abundantly clear.

Gravatar Notice how now they're going into bush bashing mode, the doom and gloom meme, bush didn't do nuthin' for them, and on and on? truly sick people

Gravatar yeah.... I love the fact that Palin has them this riled.... I smell fear.

i knew I liked her!!!

Night, will peek in later to see if I need to deal with anyone.

All yours Beth.

Gravatar You KNOW what I'll do, too...lol

Gravatar Today I did something I never wanted to do. I broke my cardinal rule and attacked a child. I want to apologize for it. Children must be off limits in politics, whether it is Sarah Palin's daughter or Bill Clinton's. I used to rant about how Rush Limbaugh was a phony for attacking Chelsea Clinton (age 12), and it was reminded to me today (by my daughter of all people) that I was doing the same with Bristol Palin.

I hope she has a healthy and happy child. That is the best that anyone can hope for in this life.

And I ask your forgiveness. My words were out of place, I let my emotions run wild (raging hormones of us over 50 gals) instead of stepping back and looking at the whole picture.

Gravatar I do not see how Palin is not a beacon of morality. I do not see how her life and family are in any contrast to Christian living. I think adults listen to the teachings of the Heavenly Father the same way teens listen to their earthly parents! Christians are not perfect and will sin until the day they leave this earth and true Christians know that.I think the Palin parents showed some good Christian parenting and grandparenting! They are basically saying to their daughter you made an adult choise and now you have to deal with the natural consequences of that choice. We are here if you need further guidence in making better choices in the future and we still love you. We of course love our innocent grandchild and want to be a part of its life as well. Whats done is done pull yourself together because you are going to be a parent!I think thats some darn good parenting! Would it be better to kill the innocent baby and let the two teens learn to get away with behaving immorrally because their parents will clean up their bad behavior (kill if necessarry)? What would that teach them? OH ok do wrong and we will punish you by not having to face a second of discomfort. Please these are good parents and a typical kid. There by the Grace of God go I! How many of you have had to face either your parental embarrassments or teenage mistakes in front of the nation? I think Palin is showing just why she is such a good choice for VP! Of course the biased media shows no coverage of the facts which bring into question the true character that is the empty suite Obama! Nope tearing into a teen not running for office is the way to inform America instead of holding a grown man asking to be President accountable for the company he keeps!

Gravatar VERY well said Nicole--thank you.
