Oh brat it's worse than unbelievable--I guess this story takes place in australia--here in boston, there's an actual doctor working with kids as young as EIGHT to help them transition--WITH THEIR PARENTS PERMISSION--and of course they'll be sterile, but they're being fed hormones to forestall puberty to give them time to "make up their minds"...
DISGUSTING...heck I was a tomboy as a kid (my mom never did forget my squashed frog--I forgot it was in my pocket and sat on it and she got to clean out my pockets--or my garter snake collection) but that didn't mean I was "insecure" in being female! Good grief! It was part of how people my age grew up (where we could go out and play and explore) and now they're saying it's cause to "question the kid's sexual identity"?
How freaking sick is THAT?

Miss Beth, I also was a tomboy, in a different country far, far away. Go figure. Oh and yes, I raised a daughter who was also a tomboy. You will KNOW though, no gender confusion here..
However, in THIS case? I would like just 5 minutes with this mother, and the families you describe. I won't even share what I would like to say to that doctor in Boston..
So very many things wrong with these stories, would take me way too many words for here.

What's your point kbp? This isn't beliefs, these things are actually happening today, as we write. How does that make it beliefs? Do you believe it's okay to change your child's gender for whatever reason? Condemn them to a protracted puberty and render them sterile? Start sex change when they're 12?

How does a 12 year old decide she wants to change her gender? Just ask a lunatic from the left. They have ALL the answers.

It was humor directed at another case (FLDS) discussed here lately.
I disagree completely with the idea of what they want to do to this young girl.
The "beliefs" of this mother are fine, IMO, however crazy they are, until they lead to illegal conduct or harming others.
I should add that "harm" does take place IMO, when they start playing with injections to alter the child's body in any way in this case.
AH..that makes it much clearer, kbp--thanks. I was hoping it was something like that--I could no more do something like this to one of my own children and simply can't see how other parents can condone this for their own. It simply boggles my mind that ordinary behavior can be so skewed to fit someone's agenda, rather than just letting children be children.

When I was 12 I told my family that I liked boys, but that I also liked girls, by 14 I knew for sure that I was gay and only wanted to be with boys, well my father could except that if I was born meant to be a female and pushed for me to have the sex change which no one would even consider until I was 18. We by then I knew that just because I like guys did not mean that I was supposed to be a female. Thank God I am still a male and yes I still like males. They should let her live her life until she is at least 18 and then make her own decision after she has had the chance to truly determine her true path.
