Gravatar An Anbari delegation arrived in the US on Saturday for talks with Bush, Rice and Gates.

Details here.

Gravatar Adding it as an update with your URL right now...thanks Robert.

Gravatar Thanks for spreading the word and the news.

Gravatar My pleasure. Only added a teaser then linked to you to get the full scoop. I truly appreciate the headsup on these things.

Teamwork does indeed help us all get all the news spread.

Gravatar Spree tells us, "The tide has turned in Iraq," citing some welcome relief from the overall reality as proof. I would like to be able to agree, but reality keeps crowding in, as in this Sunday story . . .

Gunmen in Baghdad snatched 10 Sunni and Shiite tribal sheiks from their cars Sunday as they were heading home to Diyala province after talks with the government on fighting al-Qaida, and at least one was later found shot to death.

The bold daylight kidnapping came as the top U.S. commander in Iraq said the threat from the terror network has been "significantly reduced" in the capital.

OK, maybe that was just an isolated lapse. Well, not really . . .

A suicide car bomber, meanwhile, struck a busy commercial area in the oil-rich, northern city of Kirkuk, killing at least eight people and wounding 26, police said.

. . . In all, at least 35 people were killed or found dead across the nation, including the decomposing bodies of 12 Shiites found near the Diyala provincial capital of Baqouba, an army officer said.

An explosives-laden car also exploded near a market in Baghdad's northern Shiite district of Kazimiyah, killing at least two civilians and wounding 10, according to local police.

Maybe Sunday was just an especially bad day. But wait, at midday today CNN Radio was reporting the discovery of 20 decapitated bodies in Iraq. And later came word that the top Corp of Engineers general was injured by an IED blast, the highest-ranking officer to get hurt that way in Iraq, the report said.

The unfortunate truth is that despite the valiant efforts of our insufficient forces in Iraq, the bad guys there — al Qaeda, yes, but also ethnic/religious and tribal factions, plus mobsters and individual thugs — have kept this up far longer than it took to liberate Europe and defeat Japan in World War II.

And, those bad guys in Iraq can keep this up indefinitely, all the while inspiring recruits and attracting funding.

You can blame negative reporting by the AP or any other organization all you want. Unfolding, unending facts are what they are.

The truth is, there are winnable wars and there are no-win quagmires. Iraq, by any sane and sensible definition, is a no-win quagmire.

Gravatar Maybe you should check the news BEFORE commenting net time:

http://wwwwakeupamericans-spree....fs- rescued.html

8 out of the 11 have already been rescued, 4 kidnappers dead and they are working on freeing the other 3.

So busy trying to push BAD news you don't even see what is in front of your pathetic face.

Sorry to burst your defeatist bubble but here is some more FACTS for you:

Just yesterday we found out that overall violence is down to pre-Golden Mosque bombing levels.

**As Brigadier General Gurganus said on Sunday, about 2,200 U.S. Marines from the 13th MEU have left Anbar province. That unit, a part of the original surge force, represented about half the surge forces in Al Anbar. They've left as part of their normal timeline and won't be replaced in Iraq.

**U.S. forces have contributed humanitarian services in support of multiple projects, improving the quality of life for the local citizens. And for example, this government has built 16 schools, 7 medical facilities over 80 kilometers of roadways and 25 water improvement projects.

**Violence in and around Baghdad is down 59 percent.

**Car bombs are down 65 percent.

**Casualties from car bombs and roadside bombs are down by 80 percent.

**Casualties from enemy attacks down 77 percent.

**Operations against Iraqi security forces are down 62 percent.

**Assassination attempts for sectarian reasons are down 72 percent.

SAVED the best for last too... how about the parade in Ramadi "against" al-Qaeda that the Iraqi's invited the American military to attend.

Or how about the Iraqis that took TEHIR hard earned money and donated it to help the San Diego fire victims?

Get your head out of your ass and start looking at what is actually happening and quit trying to ignore all the good and hunt only the bad.

Defeat is only for those with no courage. Maybe you should ask yourself why you haven't heard of the parade, or the donation or any of the other stuff... maybe it is because the MEDIA isn't shoving it down your throat and you are too lazy to look for it.

Ya think?

Gravatar They're so focused on losing that they can't see anything other than things like he posted.

Gravatar Those will be the morons that won't even KNOW when we have won. They will be home muttering to themselves.

Gravatar (NOTE FROM SPREE-)IF you cannot acknowledge ALL the news instead of cherry picked news that ignores the massive amounts of other news, then you are irrelevant to the whole conversation.

You DO need to get your head OUT OF YOUR ASS and start addressing FACTS instead of your wishful thinking.---Spree

Gravatar this was brought to my attention by a good friend of mine. while i am not downplaying any "good news in iraq," i am not going to ignore the repercussions of our actions. how can a strategy such as this be seen as good? the ends don't justify the means? how to we attempt to reconcile issues between neighbors but by arming the majority of them?

http://jamesptaylor.wordpress.co...ogress-in-iraq/

Gravatar Consideringthe latest news has Shiites moving back to Sunni neighborhoods with the Sunnis guaranteeing them safety and livlihoods and Sunnis moveing back into Shiites neighborhoods, welcomed by the Shiites and being given the same guarantees.

As well as Sunnis and Shiites, fighting side by side against Al-Qaeda... the reconciliation is going splendidly.

They are also producing MORE oil that prewar standards and amounts.

So, what exactly are you babbling about?

Have you been under a rock for the last 6 months?
