OMGosh! Brat, move over and save some of those bp meds for me! This is completely unacceptable--how on earth could this superintendant not investigate herself when she saw an obvious pattern of complaints? Holy COW she should be prosecuted right along with him!

This guy should have been removed from the classroom and put under investigation the day after the complaint was lodged in Dec. What would he have had to do to get the administration's attention? Burn someone at the stake???? Finally some parents willing to pay the high cost (financially and socially) to do the adminstration's job for them. There should be consequences right up the line.

The article doesn't state the reason for the marks on the child's arm, is it possible they were X's and he made poor judgment when demonstrating his lesson? Absolutely. But it sounds as if several people didn't want this teacher in the school district because of his beliefs, so they basically found an excuse to dismiss him. Its ridiculous to call him down because he owns a bible and keeps it in or on his desk, this is obviously a big part of his daily life, if anyone asks about creation, or the bible, share it!

"Someone" is missing the point. The fact is that this teacher is marking ANY child was WRONG!
Whether he has a Bible or not, whether he believes in God or not, (which if he really DID he would NOT be marking children....logic here, folks!), his freedom of expression does NOT include abusing children.

WHY is a teacher even TOUCHING a child AT ALL? Teacher touches my kids, I'm gonna deck that teacher. There is no reason for a teacher to touch a child at all--much less to have a hold of them long enough to do this.
Pass those bp meds, brat!
