Gravatar what's the pt. of your little tirade?
pelosi held her nose and voted "Yeah". so did mccain. tough call. hard to know who to trust anymore.
but i'm glad this didn't pass. bottom line: why reward despicable, greedy behaviour?
get poor now -- avoid the rush!

Gravatar Her tirade was counter productive by defeating a bill she wanted to pass because she couldn't keep that big mouth of hers shut.

Gravatar BTW, this was a house vote, McCain is in the senate... ummm, keep up, ok?

Gravatar 95 dems also voted against? why is the GOP the target?

Gravatar ed
i can't figure that one out.
all i know is that the center just defeated the extremists.
just vote to keep everyone who voted against that plan inoffice.

Gravatar Long live the free market economy!!!

Who is Pelosi to talk about 'fiscal irresponsibility' anyway?

This November, let's start with Pelosi, and vote for the challenger in each and every case, on both sides of the aisle.

Unless of course McCain suspends the Elections, and wants Bush to remain in the White House until the bail money is found...

Gravatar Pelosi should resign NOW and stop embarrising our country. She has a big both and constantly puts her stinkin foot in it. Its time someone put a boot up her arrogant ass and kicked her back to the left coast. The bad news is that I live in Kalifornia and we also have those other 2 loons, Boxer and Feinstein. We are so screwed.

Gravatar The irony of this blame-game is that neither side knows what it's blaming the other side for. The Chicken Little speeches about how we must act before the skies falls on us all hasn't done much to persuade many. The American public didn't want this bail-out. Conservative free-marketers didn't want it because it would be an unprecedented government intrusion into the financial market. Liberal democrats didn't want it because there wasn't any real protection for the individual homeowner and too much for big boys. It just slays me that we, as a nation, haven't even decided whether the bailout was a good thing, yet we are so darn quick to point fingers at the other guy for tanking it. If it turns out that we didn't need it, those who get blamed now (Reps or Dems) should be heralded as heroes. But I've noticed that the public and pundits have short memories. I don't care if you're Al Franken, Amy Goodwin, Rush Limbaugh, or Sean Hannity. You are apparently free to take a staunch position today that is completely inconsistent with the staunch position you took last week, and no one will call you out on it. Figure out whether you wanted this bill before you decide someone should be "blamed" for tanking it.

Gravatar There's another failure of this bill, other than that it didn't get passed. The failure of our lawmakers to act in a mature non-partisan manner. As soon as this thing didn't pass the first thing you saw was finger pointing. That includes McCain and Obama. When are we ever going to get a Presidential candidate (or President), a Congress, a government that doesn't only see Elephants and Donkies?

The only thing we're missing is the Kindergarten teachers stepping in and splitting up the fight, telling them not to call each other names, and to give them a time out.

We really do deserve better than this.

Gravatar Pelosi should go. If she had kept quite for 1 hour, the bill would have passed. How could she be the Dems leader--she is dumb.

Gravatar This is not the time to rush into action. This is the time to step back, listen to our economists (all of which are against a bailout) and to slowly work towards a solution.

This was nothing more than a quick fix, throw money at the problem, give away. This bill was not a solution, and would do more harm in the long run than fix the problem.

Gravatar The bailout is BS! Let the pieces fall where they may. Hurray for the brave Democrats and Republicans that voted against this welfare for the GREEDY and fool-hardy. Three years ago my fellow commuters and I were wondering what was going to happen when the subprime loans finally came home to roost. Now we know. If a bunch of beer swilling guys like us could see the stupidity and GREED of the lending industry why couldn't the brain surgeons we have in Washington? One other thing, I am having a really hard time finding any sympathy for those who took those loans.

Gravatar FUTURE 'JEOPARDY' ANSWER: The Stock Market Crash of 2008 was caused by this rabidly partisan Democratic House Speaker who torpedoed the "bi-partisan" Wall street Bailout by angrily trashing President Bush and thereby causing both Democrat and Republican citizens across America to loose billions of investment dollars.
QUESTION: WHO IS NANCY PELOSI ?

Gravatar Are we all grown-ups or what? So she opened her mouth big deal! You either wanted to vote for this or not, don't make an excuse because you probably did not want to vote yes. Lets also be honest that a lot of them are coming up for re-election so lets all be honest! Maybe we should let things go south so that the American people can see or not see for themselves. I also think that everyone is being political that voted NO! I also believe that McCain and Obama should keep out of this period!

Gravatar This sounds like middle school crap to me. I cannot believe that the Republicans would hold back their vote based upon Pelosi ’s speech. We are in a financial crisis here and we need to do whatever is right regardless of a speech made. This bill is not about Pelosi and whether or not the Republicans like her speech but this is about bailing out our poor economy..LET'S GET REAL PEOPLE! Wake up!

Gravatar I'm GLAD the bailout failed--why the hell should I be taxed another $15,000 to support deadbeates and golden parachutes when I pay my bills and pay them on time? THANK GOD IT FAILED. Of course, it's only those who want another handout at taxpayer expense who wish this would have passed and frankly, I'm sick of supporting that entitlement mentality.

Good for the bill going down in flames.

Gravatar When the top economist Fed Chairman Bernanke speaks people in the financial world listen !
What he said was real scary last week but will there be a 1939 type crash ? No one knows.
There's too much blame game in Congress and Pelosi is too polarizing. Congress has a lower approval rating that Bush and she blames the republicans for everything.

Gravatar 95 democrats had reason to not vote for this bill.

Gravatar It's about time some representatives grew some balls, and VOTED NO on this stupid bailout. I've listened to the radio here in DC since the vote, and the all too revealing voice of the spoiled elites crying for not getting the money the want....boo freak' hoo! One wall street terrorist actually said "Congress should do their part!?!" Hey WALL STREET if Congress REALLY did their part, we'd be hanging your nuts from every monument in town. TAX DOLLARS ARN'T YOUR DAMN PLAY COFFERS!

Gravatar I watched C-Span and the congressional leaders on both sides of the aisle were passionate about voting for this bill.Pelosi wanted it passed but she was the only one playing a blame game.

Gravatar I am glad to hear that the bail-out deal has been rejected because it restored the confidence in American democracy and free market values. The bail-out legislation proposed by Hank Paulson, former Goldman Sachs CEO and rushed by President Bush failed due to many flaws.

The best American economists, market analysts, lawyers and other business professionals have to been involved in panel that will draw a revised bail-out deal before it is submitted to Congress for further discussion. The bail-out deal has to take into account the interest of American taxpayers at the first place.

Gravatar 133 republicans voted no as well .

Gravatar Jonathon, This panel of experts idea makes sense.

Gravatar Alan Greenspan was against a bailout. He said it didn't solve the problem and would only make it worse.

Gravatar What I do NOT understand is why all the "leaders" of these various banks and businesses still have jobs?????? How come the govt is including them in the discussions on how to solve this mess, which they were part of creating? Am I too stoopid to understand something really simple here?

Huh?

Gravatar brat you have come to the heart of the problem. A bunch of millionaire bankers trying very hard to get the government to clean up their mess.

Gravatar Vote based on feelings being hurt or vote on national interest? Hmmm, tough choice. I guess getting feelings hurt is far more important than the national interest, according to what I am hearing.

Gravatar dennis kusenic agreeing with marilyn musgrave....this is surreal!

Gravatar here's a start:
RESTRICT CEO PAY!!!
short of that, we can always EAT THE RICH!!!

Gravatar I like Dennis Miller's idea ......give the ceo's a gold parachute and make them jump off a airplane! They should leave with nothing more than the clothes on their backs. The resst of us do not get big money to leave jobs we screwed up! (with a couple exceptions who should not either)

Gravatar The information is all around on what caused this failing, but the numbers are saying different things, they said there were 70 rep yes votes, after the pelosi pill speach there were supposed to be 67 (I think that was the final number) so her speech upset 3 people and actually changed their minds? I don't get that, now the dems could not even get their party to unite for this vote, there are a lot of people being affected by this money, letting these companies fail after listening to Bernanke could be the worst thing to ever do, the oversight has to happen for this money to work, the people at the top need to go, but this money needs to reach the companies not the ceo's for this to work, I listend to Bernanke last week and during, he knows and we need to be worried about this failing in a big way, this bill has to go through, pelosi has to go, she is an idiot and can't do anything except point the finger at everyone else, I am not understanding where all the monies are coming from yet, there are a lot of unanswered questions that I can't put together yet.

Gravatar I just think it is all crap. They are not even sure it will help. I was watching fox (strategy room) and they are basically saying we Americans are stupid and are just hung up on the word bailout. Make the ceo's that took the big money empty their pockets and pay for it! I think if they leave things the way they are and look into the corruption(and straighten that part up) we will all be OK. So people are going to have to get used to buying only what they can afford---- no more credit---- big whoop some of us have been doing that right along. If they want to help some one help people who are getting close to retirement who are not going to have anything because of this crap. People who were spending beyond there means I do not feel sorry for. I do not buy into this crap, they did not know they were spending more than they could afford. If you over spend your checking account you can not expect the government to bail you out, so do not expect help if you do it on a larger scale. The whole thing stinks and those of us that were not part of the problem are going to be paying for it! AAAARRRRRGGGGGGG!

Gravatar wait...
according to regi, the jeopardy guy and many others of you, pelosi is single-handedly responsible for this pig-troughing fustercluck of america?
pelosi votes "yes", but actually causes more people to vote "no" with her "secret coded speech"???
i don't care if you bow down to rush or bill maher, there's plenty of blame to go around on both sides of the aisle.
aside from 100 ceos being chained to a rock at the bottom of the ocean being "a good start", here's an idea: the govt should pass an emergency bill to restrict ceo pay to greedy bastards who leave companies in shambles. instead they want to reward them!

Gravatar I bet Obama and Acorn were disappointed that the earmark for Acorn was removed.
I bet they want those easy to get mortgages back as well......one of the reasons for the financial mess as well as greed !

Gravatar Hey Paul when Acorn foreclose on homes then they have legit addresses for voter registration! LOL the bailout is am attempt for Acorn to go legit? ROFL!

Gravatar Those Nancy Pelosi,Reid and Obama democrats need to be voted out of office !

Gravatar LOL Nicole !
