Every news organization is guilty of this. Reporters and producers don't understand, don't care and don't think about what they're doing. I think you're unfairly pointing the finger at CNN. In closing, I have two final words - Geraldo Rivera.

CNN is the worst, though, that's why my television never stops there, or on headline news.

Gravatar Blaming CNN specifically for this problem is like blaming Philo Farnsworth for "Girls Gone Wild." Every single media outlet makes bad calls with sensitive information -- and hopefully they learn and do better the next time. In the case of the Mumbai attacks, many sources and many channels were talking about the location of victims.

Gravatar Well, I say start with CNN on the list of news stations that blabbed the info, and add to it! The only way these news outlets are going to hear from the American public that what they're doing is WRONG is if we all know WHO'S DOING IT!

Does anyone remember the phrase "NEED TO KNOW"??

Gravatar I wonder how many lives the converage from CNN and other news outlets might have saved? Anyone consider that? Maybe reporting helped some people avoid an area or be able to move to another area knowing it was safe. I'm sure that the reporting also helped security forces learn more about what was happening.

It's too bad that we only focus on the negative during such an event...

Gravatar There once was a time when reporters had a conscience. In those days they understood the difference between news and propaganda. They knew that if they broadcasted some information the bad guys would be able to see it. So they cooperated with the authorities and got their story (which they wrote or broadcasted after the event) and kept people alive.

Today it is all about the ratings and damn with people's lives.

Gravatar All of the networks are guilty of bad reporting, but CNN has to be near the top of the list of the worst offenders. It’s about breaking the story and drawing in the viewers and CNN is certainly guilty of being too eager and putting themselves and others in danger by blabbing details.
Interesting that the viewing network of choice for the terrorists was CNN, I wonder what makes them appealing to terrorists.
Also, does anyone remember Iraq war in 1990? CNN was waiting right where they expected the Marines to land to report on it, who cared if it would give away position to the enemy!

Gravatar You know what I see here? Reaching across the aisle. Seems the Libs and Cons are finally getting a true point understood!

Journalism, in the true sense, is dead. TY Sean Hannity! They do not report the news, they seem to make it!
Then brag about how good they are at doing a screwed up job!

Money and ratings! Especially in the economic backlash we are facing.

I am so glad that, I do NOT have cable. I would be madder than I am now.

Angry Dem, I can't believe that I would say this, but I do agree with you. It isn't just CNN.

Tomorrow, we will find out if America can speak. Saxby Chambliss election. Now, since I agreed with you Angry Dem, do you agree with me that a filibuster proof Senate must not happen? Because, if it does, eventually, the "Fairness Doctrine", will be ratified.

And CNN, and NBC, and MSNBC, etc.....will all get free reign.

Then, the proverbial Crap hits the fan.

I am seeing movement here.

Gravatar ALL msm is guilty of this crap. I recently wrote to Nick Meo, a British "journalist" embedded with US troops. Despite direct orders from the troops defending his arse in a battle, Meo filmed the death of a US soldier. Not content to do that, he then lied to the troops that he had it, THEN broadcast and the tv station in the fallen's home town also aired the video.

For the sake of his "exclusive" he not only endangered troops, he also caused immeasurable grief to many. I do not know enough adjectives to describe him.

I wrote to him: Imagine that these men and women are your loved ones, your mother, your brother, your son etc etc..(and yes, the US milblogs - and others )tore more than one strip off him.

Trouble is, NONE of them have a conscience, or ethics. It IS all about the scoop. They will sacrifice ANYONE all for the ratings, and advertising dollars.

Yea, they make me sick.

Okay, I am done - for now!

Gravatar The next time he is embedded he should be awarded the bullet in the brain award. And let other asshole reporters know that they will suffer the same fate.

Gravatar Well, many many military related (either active or vets) + milbloggers wrote to his bosses, I think it was The Telegraph. I very much doubt he'll be embedded with any US troops again. Maybe not even British since, after he had the errors of his ways (his LIES) pointed out to him and his bosses, he actually did a follow up column - from London - whining about poor him and those big bad nasty Americans. Was more than a little pathetic.

Gravatar I say we cut the balls off all CNN reporters. Most of them are holos anyway like that pretty boy Anderson Cooper. Someone ought to French kiss that guy in the mouth!

Gravatar I remember reading about that, thanks to you Brat! Angry I agree about Geraldo, but I do not think CNN helped anyone. The news is a joke. The are all like tabloids now. We can now, all watch the fruits of the American education of dumbing down at work....just turn on the TV. It is only going to get worse....and it is not just the media that has been dumbed down.
