If the FBI is involved it means that there is a multi-state link. I think they are going to use the MANN ACT for some prosecutions. The MANN ACT prohibites white slavery. It also banned the interstate transport of females for “immoral purposes.” Its primary stated intent was to address prostitution, immorality, and human trafficking.
The US Supreme Court upheld it for what I think is this case's purpose in Cleveland v. United States (329 U.S. 14, 16-17) (1946). The Court decided that a person can be prosecuted under the Mann Act even when married to the woman if the marriage is polygamous. Thus polygamous marriage was determined to be an “immoral purpose".

I hope to God that an end is put to all this mess. These so-called "religious" members need to be stopped! I don't think at all that these men have any religious intentions. They are just a bunch of disgusting pedaphiles that want an excuse to rape little girls.

Pretty convienent way for pedophiles to get what they want by calling it a religion. It's disgusting, and all the men should serve prison terms.

This whole story is so thoroughly sad and disgusting. The only, ONLY bright note is it didn't end up like Waco or Ruby Ridge. Thank God for that.

There are many "homes" such as this one. Not necessarily polygamist cults but cults non the less. Does anyone remember Lester Roloff and the "Christian Alamo" back in 1979 at Rebekah Home for Girls?? This was in Corpus Christi, TX. Good ol' Lester was raised in Waco..fancy that. That was a horrible situation....about 300 girls were removed from that "home". The beatings that some girls endured were nightmarish... Lester's motto was better a pink bottom than a black heart. Gulags and cults need to be shut down across the country for the sake of our children!!!!

I saw a clip of vansful of "volunteers" coming to process the victims. On the vans was displayed "First Baptist Church." I wonder what steps were taken by authorities to ensure that no proselytization would be going on in this most vulnerable time for these poor kids and mothers. I know the TX Baptists aren't shy about that kind of opportunism.

I,m glad Texas had the b@#$lls to finally do something.Arizona and Utah should wake up and be ashamed. This is nothing more than a huge number of pedophiles using religion as a way to disguise their sickness. May all the adult leaders be rounded up and suffer the same fate as Warren Jeffs. And by the way most of these men are living off the public assistance the single mothers are receiving I heard. Correct me on this if I'm wrong.

It is a shame that the most powerful country of the world took so long to protect children from infamous sexual abuse. It has been going on since eighteen hundreds. Joseph Smith had 34 wives 32 under the age of 23. It only took a century to do something about a little group, what about Utha, North Caroline, Salt Lake City? What will it take to stop this polygamy nonsense that is against the law.

Joseph Smith the founder of FLDS was a self proclaimed prophet. He manipulated young women to become his wives promising to give them a place in haven, he had 34 wives.
His youngest wife 14 years old was rape numerous times and none helped her.
I am sure he is in hell

Virginia, please get your facts straight. Joseph Smith was NOT the founder of this group. Warren Jeffs father was the founder.

What's really creepy about this is that a single judge can strip all of these people of their DNA, then use it to apply "additional charges". Shouldn't DNA be protected by privacy laws (like the 5th Amndt)
And all on an unconfirmed "tip".
Sure, the whole thing sounds creepy, and I'm all for protecting the children, but solutions invented and imposed by the State have been falling short... like illegal immigration, like drug-running Marines, like exploding debt and collapsing currency.

OK, so I understand that people's religioud freedom needs to be protected. These people send their 12-year old boys to work on construction sites. Doesn't that break child labor laws?? Warren Jeffs had ALL the dogs killed one day in the whole community, and that was years ago. What about cruelty to animal charges?? Holding infants under running water until they cannot breathe, locking wives and children in closets, refusing medical care for even the youngest members because supposedly their mothers were being punished, kicking boys out of the compund to live on the streets as young as 13...There are TONS of laws being broken here, not to mention of course the hoardes of pregnant teenage mothers!!! I can't understand why more of these men are not in prison!!

I don’t care about polygamy-
I care about slavery of women and children.
I care about girls having babies at 12,13,14 when their bodies are not ready for it.
I care about women and men not being able to marry who they choose.
I care that children are made to marry their cousins
…men who are 40-80 yrs old older then they are…
I care that boys who question what is going on are kicked out and kept from their families
I care that babies are water tortured to break them.
I care that these women are made to abuse one another for the sake of their own survival.
I care that these mothers are kept sweet so as to keep their children safe.
I care that women have to obey and give their 12 yr olds to a man old enough to be their great grandfather
Kristen-you are so correct-I do not understand how they are getting away with all of this. The aquittal of 4 counts on Jeffs yesterday due to the writing of these laws on incest are insane.
