The notion that our military can root Al Qaeda out of a muslim nation is ridiculous. Imagine if Nigerian troops occupied New York and tried to get rid of the Mafia.
I don't mean this to sound harsh Greg but there is no other way to say it.
You seem to think that any action that takes hard work and determination in regards to the war on terror, is ridiculous, and all I have to say is that I am glad MY life or freedoms do not depend on having you on my side because once the fight got difficult, I would be standing alone.
Lets just say, in my mind, I am glad YOU are on the opposite side as I am on the war on terror.

Spree: You've twisted my words. Al Qaeda is a foreign presence in Iraq that can only exist with the support of at least part of the population. Right now, they get that support from the people who want our troops out (no not the Democrats!). My guess is, when we leave Iraqis will kick them out as well.
Al Qaeda is also in Somalia, Morocco, Pakistan and Algeria, to name just a few. We haven't troops enough engage them all militarily.
In short, I didn't knock the strategy because it was too hard, I knocked it because I don't think it will work.
In case you have missed the MULTIPLE reports from a variety of news agencies Greg, MOST of the tips that are allowing us to capture al-Qaeda members in the last couple of months have been coming from THE IRAQI'S themselves...yanno, those same people YOU are trying to claim are supporting them.

Hawk: Of all those groups I can't think of any that were defeated by military means. Most failed because popular support dried up.
I didn't say Al Qaeda couldn't be defeated; I said using our Army was the wrong way to go.
If the Iraqis want to get rid of it they're the ones who can do it.
