You know, Savage said something the other day that makes perfect sense. He's not my favorite host, but trying to get HH in on AM anymore is almost hopeless and Savage is on FM.
In this, I hope he has it right.
He said something along the lines of there won't be an attack on US soil until after the elections. The reason he gave is because the surge is working and people are backing the troops for victory. Our opponents know this and aren't willing to take on "the idiot" (not what he thinks of Bush necessarily, but the congress) currently in office because, for better or worse, Bush has chosen to take the fight to them and hasn't backed down.
He said these enemies aren't idiots--and are willing to wait it out until we after the elections, hoping and praying we get a weak dem in office who would be ineffectual in fighting back--it would be much easier to attack us with someone like hillary or obama in office, particularly with the moronic congress we have.
I have to agree with him on this--it would be much easier to attack when we're perceived as weak with weak, ineffectual leadership.
I just hope he's right and we don't have another attack before the elections. This congress and the defeatists are sure doing their best to lay out the red carpet of welcome beforehand, though, aren't they?

The enemy will attack on their own schedule, not ours. 9/11 happened while Shrub was fresh, before his poll numbers sank. It boosted his popularity temporarily. Now, with his rating near its nadir, there is little chance that an attack would boost him.
If they can stage coordinated mass casualty attacks in several cities, they'll do it, in hopes of ruining our economy & morale.
