This is an excellent story, spree.
It's this prargraph that really hits home for me:
"The real enemy of Iraq, he says, now is Iran. He pulled out his mobile phone to show pictures he has saved of the bodies of his four brothers, who were kidnapped and murdered in 2005 by what he suspects was a Shiite death squad with ties to Iran. One of them had a nail driven into his head. Another was missing a hand."
A sobering thought this holiday weekend, for sure.

Thanks Lightwave. This is the type of thing happening all across Iraq and we should take notice of these heroic men that took a big chance trusting us, especially with our Democratic politicians trying to abandon them.
Brave and courageous and they should have their bravery and courage acknowledged.

This is fantastic. We have our own stories and legends; Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox, Pecos Bill, Jim Bridger, Doc and Wyatt at Tombstone.
The Middle East is rife with stories of traditional heroes, such as Ali Baba, Alladin, and the much heralded Lawrence of Arabia. It's good to know that such heroes are emerging from our time for generations to come to look to.

When I first read this on my reader, I thought about the song (cannot remember the name), something about getting to LA via Omaha, when he reached out and kicked old Green Teeth right in the knee.
