I truly see the confederate flag as a hate symbol. As you posted it was used and is still used by the KKK. This is what these students were associating themselves with. Schools are public property and they have a responsibility to provide a hostile free learning environment for ALL students. If even one person was offended by the flag or there was potential for one student to be offended by the flag they deserved to be punished as their actions created a hostile learning environment. That said, that policy needs to be enforced equally.
