Gravatar Keep beating those drums!!

WOOHOOOOOO!!

reid and his ilk of traitors need to shipped someplace somewhere not safe for their survival.

Gravatar I agree Snooper. They wanna bury our troops, I say WE bury THEM instead.

The troops should NOT have to deal with members of their OWN country, which they are risking their lives for, betraying them like this.

.

Gravatar So any honest debate in this country regarding the war is putting our troops in harm's way? Does any Iraqi really believe we're going to be there forever?

Gravatar Greg, there is a difference between honest debate and making statements that endanger our troopsby HIGH RANKING American politicians to be heard around the world...if you cannot be honest enough to admit the differences, then you are definitely not the man I was beginning to think you were.

Nuff said.

Gravatar Spree, it IS treason.

There's a reason for the upswing in violence in Iraq since last year: the campaigning for Nov. '06 elections and all the ugly anti-war, anti-Bush rhetoric gave the terrorists more reason to hang in there. It also helped with the recruitment of terrorists for al-Qaeda in Iraq. al-Zarqawi wrote on his laptop, which was retrieved when he was killed last year, that he was having a hard time recruting "willing martyrs" and that they were losing in Iraq. With all the defeatism coming from the democrats, more willing martyrs were willing to step up for what they believe is a good cause: defeating America.

I cannot wait for judgment day.

Gravatar I really hope that our administration starts investigating and that charges will be brought against Pelosi and Reid for this.

Debate is one thing, but actively HELPING the enemies should be stopped now and those doing it should be prosecuted to the FULL extent of the law.

Sooner, rather than later.

.

Gravatar Amy, Do you really believe the upswing in violence in Iraq is due to Americans debating the war?
Look at U.S. casualties by month you'll see there's absolutely no correlation. As I remember January of 2005 was a particularly bloody month. Call what Reid said Treason? You'd better start building a lot of jails because at least half the country agrees with him.
What you've both constructed in your minds is the perfect device to choke off debate on this war: those who criticize are giving aid to the enemy and are guilty of treason. That won't fly in a free nation.

Gravatar Considering she has something you do not Greg, I would believe her in a second flat...what she has that YOU do not,is access to not only the soldiers IN Iraq, but the commanders and intelligence officers.

How hard is it for yu to admit that when the soldiers STATE BLUNTLY and clearly, that every time Reid opens his mouth, attacks rathcet up.

Even YOU cannot be THAT naive...or maybe you just are like the rest of them, if it doesn't "fit" YOUR way of thinking, it cannot be true.

She knows Greg because her husbands brothers in arms TELL HER.

Maybe YOU could muster up a little support as our troops are asking you to...or maybe "support" is too much to ask of you.

From your words here, I think the latter is more accurate.

.

Gravatar Greg, you're an extremely outnumbered minority amongst those of us who are veterans.

http://gatheringofeagles.org/

"No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country."

"Nobody ever defended anything successfully, there is only attack and attack and attack some more."

George S. Patton

Gravatar Spree: Again, look at U.S. casualties by month. There is absolutely no correlation.
Hawk: our status as veterans doesn't give us any particular insight into this argument, and I won't try to use it. I'll just argue as a well informed citizen.

Gravatar Reid is guilty of TREASON! Are there any polls asking Americans if they think he should be tried for treason, or at the very least Sedition? When was the last time anyone was ever tried for treason in this country? What if every conservative blogger, on the same day, demanded that he be tried for treason? Do we need a blogburst on this???

Gravatar Greg you are useless in a so called debate because you NEVER ever give verifiable proof of your "claims.

Now I am going out to the sun and until you get your head out of your ass and stop pretending that acts of treason and sedition are simply "debate" or free speech, I have no further use for you or the mentality of a defeatist.

To try to give these actions some "moral" sanction, makes you as bad as Reid.

We are in it for Victory, you might want to look up that word and see what it means and get out of the land of denial.

I am done with you.

.

Gravatar Yes Faultline and we can coordinate it through Victory Caucus.

Go to general Discussion/ New Blog thread and suggest it.

We will all join in.

Gravatar Greg, our status as veterans gives us a very UNIQUE perspective on things. We have LIVED under the "dictatorship that serves the republic." Many of us have been to places the average citizen has not. We have seen things, done things the average citizen has not.

Not ONLY that, it gives us a unique fraternity to which we belong that most Americans WILL NOT belong to, as the majority of Americans never enter military service.

We have the power, as veterans, to combine our knowledge, our resources, our VOICES, and make ourselves heard.

And the majority of us are tired of being quiet.

And UNLIKE YOU, the majority of us see the danger in cutting and running.

And as to your being "informed?" I have YET to see it.

Gravatar Faultline, I have also sent an email into GOE to see if we can organize a MASSIVE protest of our own on the steps of the senate or congress against Reid and Pelosi.

To the sun for me.

.

Gravatar Greg, I'm 100% positive. You're misunderstanding the situation; it's not a matter of military deaths being up, it's a matter of Iraqi civilian deaths increasing.

My husband is currently in Germany having a major pow-wow with troops just out of a year in Anbar Province. They did a bang up job. I think I posted this yesterday on this site, spree, but this is what he said:

Talking to these officers just out of Iraq - most having spent nearly 27 months out of the past 4 years there - they believe that politicians in Washington pushing too hard for the Iraqis to go it alone are the real reason for the up/downs of the war. We are having to go back and redo OIF-I (Operation Iraqi Freedom phase I) in many ways because the democrats pushed blindly for us to hand it over and get out. Now these officers and commanders see victory realistically in sight and they fear the politicians are about to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

What this means is that the defeatism and loose lips in the House and Senate are making it harder for victory because the enemy hears Reid say slow progress with basic services in Iraq equals defeat… so they sabotage the water pumps, bridges and electrical units. They hear Reid say there’s been an increase in violence and that equals defeat… so the terrorists blow up more civilians. And the idiotic democrats are willingly playing right into the hands of the enemy. This is why the troops despise low life politicians.

The more the democrats fawn over the violence the worse it gets.

Gravatar PS... Reid said yesterday that US deaths in Iraq are at the highest they've been since the beginning of the war. I believe he's right. The real target is Iraqi civilians. It creates strife between the sects and looks to America like they cannot get their act togehter. To blame them for not "stepping up to the plate" when they are simply being targets of violence is like accusing a woman of being a slut because she was raped. In essense it's an honor killing.

If you don't believe the enemy is listening and encouraged by our "debate" on Iraq, check out Al Jazeera, MIMRI TV and the latest al-Qaeda video release. They're stoked.

Gravatar One more thought on this...

When I was in the army, we had a line in one of our cadence's that went like this: The Army's Colors are the color of red to show the world the blood we've shed.

I looked and didn't have a single damned red tshirt in my closet, but I do now, and I'll be wearing it on Fridays from now on.

Ya'll join in, won't you?

Gravatar RED FRIDAYS! HOOAH??

Trolls. Defeatist morons jerks and cowards all.

Gravatar Yes, I will be wearing red - and this time I WILL remember to do so. Of course, only my computer will know

I agree with Moderate Voice, mostly, but I don't think this is the "usual, political / partisan posturing." I think the current political climate is unprecedented - and the stakes are simply, an enemy coming to our shores by any way they can. Germany would have showed up on our shores had things been different, but not Viet Nam, and we had no reason to think VN would come here.

The fever pitch has reached about 200 deg. and, perhaps, there is a chance that Republicans in Congress can talk them down, but it's doubtful, unless Democrats call for Reid to either change his message or leave Congress. Not likely either will happen. Reid will quiet down and we'll move on - the damage done, and I'm betting he will not be held accountable. I don't trust the Republican instincts - too many hands reaching out to "good friends across the aisle."

The letters from the soldiers show that they are standing firm because they are professionals...AND they know what they're talking about. God bless them. Thanks so much for sharing the letters.

Got your RCP.

Gravatar Fautline, Spree: I'm up for a blogburst.
Protest Rally - that's really the way to do it.

Maggie,

Gravatar We at The Victory Caucus have a dedicated thread just for such blog burts and they work.

The moonbats are in serious decline and they know it.

Spree: cross-posted to here.

Gravatar Greg, telegraphing to our enemies dates we intend to surrender, methods we use to detect their intent, undermining the Troops on the ground, playing Politics over dearly needed funds for those Troops, and so on is not "honest debate."

We are at war and if debate is needed, which can be beneficial, you do it behind closed doors between the parties, not in public for all of our enemies to watch and feed in to.

All Baghdad Reid is doing is feeding the enemy and emboldening them.

Our Troops listen to this and begin feeling downhearted, they become lax in battle, feeling that the country doesn't give a care about them. In the end, more of them die.

We've been down this road before and once again, the Democrats are leading the way to surrender.

If our Troops have the patience adn will to succeed, why can't Democrats?
