Gravatar Given how little Mrs. Bush speaks out and given how she speaks when she does, I'd say she's basically told the Demockacrats, leftists and liberals to watch their backsides--and protect their jewels, should they have them.

Hoo-rah for Laura!

Gravatar Mrs. Bush does have some experience concerning this matter.
I am on her side.
For CKA, they don't have any "jewels"

Gravatar Yes...another lady. And she is a true lady, Laura is. People should harken back to the old "EF Hutton" commercials--when Laura speaks, people should listen.

Gravatar Laura is wrong on this. Sarah Palin is a candidate not the wife of one. She is fair game. He morals and stances are to be fair game. She better have a thick skin, for national politics is a rough and tumble sport.

Here is where we will separate the children from the adults. For if Obama and Biden are fair game, then so are McCain and Palin. This is a no-holds bar match, winner takes all. It will be bloody and dirty.

Laura's remarks are best suited for Cindy McCain, who isn't running for anything. Not for a VP nominee.

Gravatar Katie, Sarah Palin may be fair game. But using sexism and invective and viciousness just ain't the way to make your point--unless, it appears, you are a Demockacrat, liberal or leftist weighing in in this presidential-election cycle.

BTW: Just guessing here, but I'm pretty sure Gov. Palin can hold her own. As Joe Biden and Barack Obama, or whatever his real name might be, will find out very soon.

And to you, sailor Cassel: Thanks for your service. And you're right: No jewels. At least I conceded the possibility.

Gravatar I think that if they treat her as they treated Hillary there will be a huge backlash against Obama and Biden.

If they think they can bring out the feminist issue - it is safe for McCain to bring out the race issue which Obama did against Hillary.

It will be suicide for Obama.

Gravatar Katie, I agree Sarah is indeed fair game and CKA, I also agree I think she can hold her own.

The problem is the left is so very hypocritical in calling "hands off" on things and then goes and does the exact same things they accuse us of doing.

I don't mind Sarah being put through the fire--it will indeed show just what she's made of and how she handles herself. But I agree with CKA--let's stick to the issues and not the filth they're currently throwing out. And it is filth. I think (I've been on this thing so long now my eyes are crossing) you said it Katie--I don't see the media going after Stinky's parenting skills while in office, or Biden--just Sarah.

I think--I HOPE--she'll come through the fire just fine. But the sexism needs to stop, as well as the filth of going after her family while hands off the other candidates' families.

Gravatar Katie, maybe politics is a "rough and tumble sport" to you. When the "game" is over we will all have to live with its REAL life and death consequences.

We will also have to face each other as friends and neighbors. Especially in the brave new "united" world that Obama is promising us. He may have the greatest intentions in the world, but the eagerness with which his followers (who have suggested they too are different) abandon anything resembling civility and decency suggests that they have no intentions of following him down that path.

The willingness by so many to embrace the smarmy attack on Palin's motherhood suggests that the "game" has not changed at all.

Gravatar Exactly CKA, going after a politicians on issues is one thing, attacking with sexism as they did with Clinton, is a other ballgame.

Gravatar I'm just saying that she'd better be prepared for it. This isn't a school board election, it's the big leagues and she (a minor leaguer) has just entered it. US politics is a dirty sport, has been for over 200 years (check out the Adams/Jefferson campaigns). She'd better not cry in public about attacks (the way Obama did on his wife). She is now fair game for them, and will have to let them slide.

Gravatar Sure be prepared and watch how it is backfired as they open the wounds of Clinton supporters and drive them away from Obama.

Political attacks are fair game, sexism is not and never will be.

Gravatar Yes Sarah Palin is the candidate and she can withstand the battle to come. But her daughter is something else. Don't throw stones, any Democrat, Republican, Liberal or Conservative could be in this same position with a teenage child about to give birth. I still say we are all sinners in one way or another and unlike Obama I don't see a baby as a punishment.

The daughter and her boyfriend have been engaged, you can see the ring on her finger in pictures, they are going to make a family for this baby.

If the daughter is anything like the mother, this family will be just fine. Better than fine.

Gravatar Sarah Palin has set women back 50 years. SHE IS A SMALL FISH IN A BIG POND. If she is the most qualified, competent, inteligent woman in the entire Republican Party we are in sad shape. Good looks and a lifetime membership in the NRA should not be the requirements for the person who is a "heartbeat" away from being the learder of the United States of America. Please, please, please somebody wake up---this person IS NOT QUALIFIED to be in charge of our country.
Sara chose to have a child and not an abortion when she was told the child had Downs Syndrom---how admirable---who takes care of Trig Paxan Van Palin
when his mother is "on the campaign trail" does he go along with her or is there "paid help" to care for him? What about the other children? Seems to me if you choose to be a wife, a mother of 5, the Govonor of the state of Alaska priorities got messed up along the way. SARAH PALIN HAS ABANDONED ALL THAT WAS SO IMPORTANT TO HER just a few short months ago----to start a new role as Vice Presedent of the United States Of America.
Is there something wrong with this picture?
How sad and crazy is this whole mess??

Gravatar You're the sad and crazy one Patricia, setting women back 50 years. Apparently you don't think a woman is capable of working and being a wife and mother. Instead, you choose to cherry pick, set up a few straw men and then go with that as your base. How very sad for you.

When are you going to question Stinky's qualifications for the #1 spot, especially since he's a parent? I would think the same questions apply to him...but then, dems really don't give a damn for women and their choices unless they're pro-death choices, do they.

Your ignorance is showing--go away.

Gravatar Well, Patricia, you said, "Sarah Palin has set women back 50 years. SHE IS A SMALL FISH IN A BIG POND. If she is the most qualified, competent, inteligent woman in the entire Republican Party we are in sad shape."

Please, please, point for point: How so?

Just wondering: Would you say that Barack Obama has set men or blacks back 50 years? I would. As he's set back racial relations to pre-Civil Rights Act days.

As for SMALL FISH IN A BIG POND? We got you screaming that. And, again with BHO, or whatever his real name might be? If she's a small fish in a big pond, then I suggest BHO has yet to reach small-fish status.

As for Gov. Palin's intellect, qualifications, well, again, I must point you to that powerhouse of a Demockacrat ticket. At least now with Joe Biden, there is a man and an adult on it.

Sorry to hold such low opinion of Gov. Palin. But, like Miss Beth said, I think your ignorance is showing. And fear and confusion on how to deal with this: McCain sealed the election last Friday, when he nominated Palin.

Why else would the blogosphere, but especially the liberal/leftist space, as well as the OMSM, be attacking Palin so?

And, really, why did Obama take until today to issue some "hands-off" statement.

The worm. He let it go until someone, someone not very smart, either, told him he'd better weigh in on this.

Too late, too little, too bad, BHO.

Ditto for the DLLs.

The excrement in which you all covered yourself will not wash off so easily.

BTW: My 88-year-old mother, who was a welding supervisor in a shipyard that build Liberty ships that carried U.S. troops to the European, Pacific and Asian theaters of war during WWII; who has only an eighth-grade education; who worked as a grocery-store clerk and waitress all of her adult life--she had the grit and "testicularity" and commitment to walk picket lines decades ago, and stood in the rain and snow and ice and endured abuse on those lines so that, in whatever small way she might've contributed, women and feminists today could enjoy what they have.

So, please, drop the sexism, have some respect and drop the dissing Gov. Palin, someone about whom you appear to have no knowledge, but much jealousy, as well as fear.

Gravatar But Patrica is right about one thing. Is she ready for the big leagues? I pray to G-d she is.

Gravatar I do too, Katie--I do too.

Gravatar Dear Miss Beth, I am NOT a policical activest--NEVER have been, and I do not envy Sarah Palin, I have no reason to. I do know, as a resident of the state of Alaska since 1981 Sarah Palin is not qualified to be a potential leader of the United States of America. Do you have any idea what the population of Wasilla, Alaska is? Do some research for yourself---look it up. Small fish-big pond.
I just heard her 17 year old daughter is 5 months pregnant and Sarah has asked the public to "leave her daughter out of the pulbic eye" . Does this intelligent, competent, possible leader of the country know where babies come from? How could Sarah possible not notice her daughter was pregnant? Did Sarah know before she said "yes" to Sen. McCaine? Does this sound like a SMART woman to you??? Check out Sarahs aceptance speech, her daughter is in the backround holding the baby---can YOU see that shes pregnant?? There is something so wrong with this situation. Sarah is not qualified!!!!!

Gravatar Katie and Miss Beth,

Is she ready for the big leagues? She's already shown some of that verve last Friday.

And, while I hate to make this comparison, she's already shown that she can speak passionately and coherently and intelligently without a teleprompter, something that BHO cannot nor likely will never be able to do.

McCain-Palin is a big-league team, compared with the sandlot-league Obama-Biden team.

Besides, players from the AAA teams make it to the Major Leagues all the time, when the majors see something they like and see something that adds value to the team.

So, indeed, Palin has been called up to play. And she wouldn't have been, had she not.

We'll be OK.

Gravatar Ladies - I've been fighting the good ole boys club in corporate America for so many years and I'm so tired! Will we women ever come together and support each other irregardless of our views?

Gravatar From the nonsense I have seen in comments today, it looks like never.

Gravatar The trash is coming out of the trailer.

Gravatar Oh, is that where you live Patricia?

Gravatar Well Let's keep this Bull crap about feminism out of the Thrash can.. Sarah Palin IS a Great Human being so why not just stay on topic and stop burning bras.. it'll make them Sag and render them unatractive.. Sarah Palin is a Quality Human being.. Why not chew onntheir Soiled Skivvies???All the have to offer is a plagiarist Biden and a DUFUS Benito Obama.. That is all.. PITY them...

Gravatar I keep hope live that every voting man and woman will speak out against any mixture of any candidate's personal family matters with political or social commentary. Senator Obama has shown that party affiliation should not matter where non-judgment family matters are concerned. When family members "own up" and take the heat, they are trying to do the right thing. Therefore, "family, especially children," as Sen. Obama said, is especially off limits.
I admire Sen. Obama for his strong stand in this matter and am baffled that many of his followers, especially in media, choose to ignore him on this.
All of this applies double when the family involved is aiming to do what is right, not what might be politically expedient.

Signed,
A McCain-Palin supporter and an admirer of Sen. Obama's views in this matter

Gravatar Jean
Obama HAD to Keep the Libtard Press from Blowinmg up the Palin Daughter subject... History shows that His teenage Moother also did conceive him before his Father married her...
So this is CYA POlitics...BUT his Attack TROLLS will be out in force yet...MSM.. MSNBC.. Move on etc..He is playing the game but I still do not trust many of the Masked Man oratories..

Gravatar http://www.politico.com/news/sto...0908/ 13062.html
Intersting Palin article..

Gravatar Hi Redhawk - I still credit Sen. Obama on this. He has taken the right stand on it, and I choose not to question or judge his motives. He not only made a statement, but made it definitive and clear. Today, Sen. Biden has done the same. In this matter, there is agreement...for a change, and that is not bad, in my view.

McCain-Palin supporter

Gravatar Sorry, Redhawk, I transposed letters for my first name earlier - typo. Thanks for your comment.

McCain-Palin supporter

Gravatar Jane
Yes Obama and Biden have No Choice but declare Familly off limits..

Obama RELIGION Explained by himself...
Is he a Christian?????

Gravatar After reading the other comments on this post and watching the speech tonight presented by Palin, I firmly believe Obama is in big trouble. Palin is very tough and can handle the podium with the best of them. I have not seen anyone present a speech with so much finesse since Ronald Reagan. I just wish Palin could debate Obama. She would cut him to ribbons.

Gravatar I found Palin to mean-spirited and small-minded in her speech, and she competely misrepresented everything Obama is about ("he'll raise taxes" - yes, inheritance taxes and on oil companies, but he'll cut yours), although I can't really blame her since it was choreographed (a speech written by a man for a man, given by a woman" was an apt comment I heard). And it was absolutely delivered beautifully. But what really disturbs me is the all the off-base comments as to why I and others dislike her. It's not the daughter's pregnancy or other family matters. It's simply her politics and hypocrisy. She continues to say she fought the bridge to nowhere, when in fact she sought it out; she aggressively cut funding for teen pregnancy programs and family counseling; invoking God in speeches in support of the Iraq war and in support of an oil pipeline. You may disagree with my point of view, but don't fall back on the cheap claim that anyone who dislikes her is elitist or sexist. Let's raise the debate.

Gravatar The RTabid Libtard Wdasels of the Benito camp are SCARED>>>

Gravatar koho
Benito is not fooling anyone with his " tax Cuts".. Prices will soar.. Jobs will vanish BUT his Unions will survive while union workers will go on line... That is why one week after his Multi million Denver extravaganza Greek columns and parting of the waters Fiasco.. he's dropped from 51% to 42%... as of to day.. 5 Sept.. 2008.. GET IT???
