Obama just wants to fill the place. With no bands it's much harder. He will bus people if required, and the selection will take into account many factors,including race (a lot of older White women for example).
Why am I not surprised? I say "keep it up". Each time something like this happens it provides more information for voters to consider. I wonder what the process to attend the nominee's speech in the convention center has been. My guess is not 'you must volunteer for your ticket'.
