This is no news! It is expected of a Democrat, a party of loose morals. First, Bill Clinton, then Edwards! For the Democrats, anything goes - homosexuality, extra-marital affairs, fornication...and the list goes on and on. If we stop to think about this, it is no mystery. Before people cry foul, it is wise to look at the facts. America's NUMEROUS problems stem from a lack of moral values. Deny it, and you'll continue on the downward spiral. Haven't we had enough of the problems facing us today? We need to get back to the basics. No other way out!
This leaves me to wonder what Clinton will do now! Edwards gave Obama his delegates to win the nomination. He won those delegates on a lie!...And where is the front page news on this? This had to come from the National Enquirier of all papers!!!

There are very few men who have been plowing the same furrow for several decades (a.k.a. married) who wouldn't jump at an attractive woman who came on to them after all that time. Same for married women who have been riding the same pony for several decades, if the opportunity "dropped in their lap," as it were. IF they thought they wouldn't get caught. Come on, this is human nature, and many Europeans don't make a big deal of it when it happens, unlike here in the USA. But in this case, as with Bill Clinton, I am surprised that they didn't have better taste. In both cases, the women were not ones that attractive guys would bother with -- they could do much better. And these famous men could do far better. If one is going to risk one's marraige and career over sex, don't do it over average hamburger, it's not worth it.

I really do not blame him for having an affair - Kennedy the oft lionized Democratic President had affairs and he just did not seem to care how it affected others. Most men don't. They even hit on you in hotels while their wife is upstairs - happened to me. Why are we surprised.

I suppose their private affairs are none of our business. Newt, Foley, L. Craig, Livingston, Vitter, Spitzer, McGrevey, Packwood, Clinton – there is a long list of public people with personal failings. I am not put off by the act or the lying (What do they have to lose at that point?), and as a general rule, I don’t think adultery should be a disqualifier for office. What is repellent to me is the hypocrisy, the cravenness that they hold on to power after being caught, and the humiliation their spouses have to endure when used as props when they make public admissions. They are self-absorbed malignant narcissists. Bob Packwood ran for reelection. Bob Livingston did it right; he got caught and resigned in hours. I did notice McCain gave a firm no comment to an Edwards affair.
Do any of these people know that it is not only again GOD, you know the God in Which WE Trust but also illegal still? McCain didn't comment ebcause he has most likely had an affair as well. Now it will come around to Obama for sure there are already stories circulating.

None of us lead impeccable lives - none of us, but he said saome really messed up crap about Clinton getting his "job", but has an affair as his wife is in the battle of her life. To me that is JUST SICK. And the stupid girlfriend is just as bad becuase she knew he was married. These woman are adulterers too because THEY KNOW that the men are married and they choose to do it. I am sure there is more to Lewinski (like setup city) but she knew Clinton was married even if he was a pig farmer.

this is disappointing in terms of the timing of his affair when his wife was still worried about cancer,and although narcissism and egocentricity are not just the province of males who are in political office, the sheer process of suddenly becoming a source of adulation tends to bring out those tendencies, and often with people who already have them, but they serve him well in his ambition, but not in his marriage.
Also, I am really surprised at the number of people who feel that since he is a good looking, high-achieving male, that he has shown some kind of bad taste by not being with a woman who is attractive (looks like bad pics to me), but not some gorgeous paragon of our celebrity and societal imaginations.
It is also sexist -and silly-whether you are talking about a man or a woman. I find this attitude more disappointing than the fact that Edwards had an affair.
Because it permeates and limits our minds, and thus our vision of what the vitality of attraction is really made of, let alone love.

After John Edwards admitted to the affair, what seems to be obvious to me as I read between the lines are a few things. Since the the headlines would have read that Edwards cheated on his cancer stricken, dying wife, Edwards said she was in remission. If this is true he couldn't, due to timing, be the father. LIE # 1
Since he is lying about being the father he had to conceal his lie by agreeing to a paternaty test, all the while knowing that one would not be performed if Ms. Hunter refused. How to get her to refuse?
Give her money. Where to get the money without breaking laws? Have someone else put up the money. The first payment 114,000 could be camaflauged as a service Ms. Hunter was performing as videographer.
The campaign money could be used for this. This would give a reason for Ms. Hunter to be globe trotting to Africa and elsewhere with John Edwards. I guess he was thinking that this was a ingenius plan. Keep his mistress with him for months, take her on exotic trips and have the contributors pay for it. The problem with this plan is, now that he admitted that she was his mistress, he will have to answer the questions, Why did you pay her? What is her experience as film maker?
What did you use the film for? Where did the money come from?
Being an observer of human nature I can say with all certainty that the rest of the story will be revealed. No woman will be satified with whatever amount of money Edwards gave her to "go along". She will ask for more when the tabloids will be offering her millions for her story. Millions of dollars is hard to turn down. Can Edwards match their offer? Remember that the child is entitled to child support until the age of majority and is entitled to an equal share of his estate as an heir. You can bet she will get lawyered up to protect her and her childs monetary interest in his and his wifes estate.
Campaign Laws will be questioned. The GOP will insist, in the interest of fair play, that it be proven that Ms. Hunters payments and other payments to other parties didn't come from contributors.
They will have to follow the money. Investigatgions will ensue.
Edwards being a lawyer, would make me assume that he can't be so stupid to pay off the players with campaign money or his own money.
As you can remember he state that he was unaware of any money being paid by anyone. LIE #2
I guess it will be discovered that a wealthy supporter paid the money to keep the scandal from breaking and to keep the campaign on tract.
This supporter will be asked to testify under oath about source of the funds and his motivation to paying it. With Edwards political career over, his supporter will have no interest in facing jail time to protect a "never will be."

LIES - his wife probably just found out but to make him look better is going along with this story that he told her in 2006. HE probably IS the father of the baby--- that is probably what they are hiding. Maybe Elizabeth can handle news of the affair but not the bastard child!!!
