Great piece! And another disgusting performance by our leftist media. That thin line between anti-Israeli and anti-semite is a fuzzy one indeed. As we all know it is easy to hide your anti-semitism behind anti-Zionism, but " a rose by any other name" --
Their leftist anti-semitism is obvious and reprehensible.
I will be sending my own email to express this contempt personally.
Thanks for bring it to our attention.

Roger, you are an excellent writer. I appreciate your letter and article. Many of us female bloggers, have been asking the same questions about the women's libbers. Where are they? Why will they not speak out for the Muslim women around the world AND here in the United States. We had honor killings this month in Dallas Texas of all places. Where was the outrage?
I look forward to reading their response, but don't be surprised if it is limp and weak, watered down to the point it has no taste, no value, ... useless.
It is truly wonderful to have a man write a letter like yours. Thank you so much and thank you for sharing this.

Great letter huh Debbie? I am hoping everyone that reads this will email, write, fax and call Ms Magazine also and let them know.
I would also like to see their advertisers get a copy of all of it and complain to them.

My humble guess is that the magazine's decision is not so much a question of anti Semitism or politics, but rather religion in general. Israel being the "Jewish state" automatically places the ad in the realm of religion, which is likely to offend the sensibilities of a significant portion of the readership. But of course anti Israel sentiment is likely a large part of it as well. In which case I do agree it's a double standard...holding the Israeli government up to tougher scrutiny than the American government when they're not any more guilty of the same things. It's become routine, so why should we expect Ms. to be an exception? But with that said, I still wouldn't be so quick to scream anti Semitism. It's a little easier to love our own leaders in spite of our government's faults than someone else's.

Melissa -- For an in depth and authoritative analysis of this issue please read Phyllis Chesler's article in Pajamas Media, then make your judgment as to the motives of the editors at Ms.

You mean a more educated judgment as in chalking it up to our "leftist media?"

Did you even read that article, Mellisa?
And, basically, the answer to your rather cynical query is Yes. Precisely.

Oh... I'm sorry... It seems to me you guys would really love to set the Ms. agenda... thank goodness you can't. The one thing you aren't bringing up, is that this could be construed as Ms. magazine supporting Israel's war on Palestine. I applaud you Ms. magazine. Keep up the good work. Oh my, have I offended the jewish right? Janet

Offended...no Jant, you simply showed you Antisemitism...always good to know who the racists are.
Ms has stated their AGENDA is feminine power, the Israeli ad simply shows women IN power.
If you see some sort of agenda in showing women in power, that YOUR bias, YOUR hidden agenda and shows clearly that you are nothing BUT an Anti-Semite.
Thanks for showing your true colors.

Okay...well let's see... so you equate the fascist regime with all jews? That's interesting, since so many jews in the U. S. feel that Israel is out of control... but then... all you care about is that nobody looks to closely at what is the truth. I am actually a part of a jewish family that deplores what Israel does... Oh, but then I guess they must be anti-semite as well... Open your eyes, you have nothing to fear but the truth.

Actually, I have to thank you all... i was prompted by all of this, and have now ordered Ms. magazine for myself and three friends... two of them are jews, and one is arab... seemed poetic in its balance.

You're right. How can fascism be construed as war? However, I understand your point that Ms. is a feminist-oriented magazine and the ad was from a feminist perspective. And if they are going to feature women leaders from our corrupt government, why not from Israel's? Is that kind of your point? However, two wrongs don't make a right. The bottom line is by screaming anti Semitism at every turn even when it's unfounded (as in this case) you are blindly defending Israel. It's along the same lines as calling someone unpatriotic for speaking out against the Iraqi War, which makes you the same as any other hardline right wing extremist. And if Janet and Ms. don't realize that our government is equally fascist, then they're no better than any hardline left wing extremists. Don't know if that's the case, but I'm saying if. As for me, I know, I'm another anti Semitic Jew that's not welcome here anymore. So I'll flip myself off.
But if I may go a little off topic and make one more point. Israel really has no more right to call themselves the Jewish state than George Bush does to call himself a Christian. Now their corrupt government is about to legalize parimutuel horse racing and become an even more corrupt and inhumane government. Why do you continue to blindly defend them simply because you're Jewish? This only serves to flame anti Semitism even more. Just like defending Michael Vick simply because you're black flames racism. Sometimes it's just not about religion or race.
