This war has no end in sight, it cost far more than anticipated, it has been managed poorly and the military has become strained.

I believe, just as many democrats believe, that they were put into power in Congress to change the direction of this war and begin to draw down and focus on other areas of the world where terrorism is an issue.

You can say the democrats are holding funds hostage or however else you want to spin it, but I'll give them credit for taking a tough stance - it is something many of them have not done in the past.

And no, Congress is not on the ground every day. They take their visits over there and attempt to gain an understanding of what is happening. But no, they are not on the ground. But at the same time, military generals are not the ones who vote on going to war or who vote on funding issues. That is what we have elected officials for. President Bush can stand up there all day and say he's going to listen to the generals on the ground. But at the end of the day, it is up to the politicians to make the decisions that need to be made.

Besides, President Bush was not so good at listening to the generals earlier in the war when they said they needed more troops.
           Bru | 11.16.07 - 3:53 pm | #

<img src=\"http://www.gravatar.com/avatar.php?gravatar_id=c10e927ca659d25357e65b3873a1c525&default=http%3A%2F%2Fec1.images-amazon.com%2Fimages%2FG%2F01%2Fx-locale%2Fcommon%2Ftransparent-pixel.gif&rating=PG&size=28\" alt=\"Gravatar\" title=\"Gravatar\" style=\"padding: 1px;
