Gravatar Great piece Spree about some truly great news! I love the TOL and have commented there often. I also love your phrase "betting against America", because that puts their whole dilemma so perfectly. They have already lost face, now let's hope they go on to lose in '08 -- by a landslide!!

Gravatar ROGER!!!!

More good news:

It just keeps coming in.

Gravatar The Times is notably right wing newspaper owned by Rupert Murdoch. It's objectivity is up there with the WSJ ed page. But then we like to believe our own propaganda don't we.
There's no doubt putting a lot more troops in there, turning a blind eye to the Iranian backed militias takeover in the south and paying off a lot of Sunni tribal sheikhs has calmed things down a bit, were back to the levels of violence in 2005. Unfortunately not much has changed in reality. That's one of the reasons our foreign policy is in such a mess it's largely dictated by the need to generate favorable political headlines at home of which sad to say this is a fairly typical example. We love to believe our own propaganda.

Gravatar Poor John. The news is coming out from MSNBC, AP, even Wapo is being forced to acknowledge what is right before their eyes...the fact that you cannot just means your head is so far in the sand you wouldn't recognize the truth if it bit you in the ass.

It doesn't matter who owns the paper, if the full and complete truth is being reported.

Amazing how you cannot acknowledge what is right in front of you.

Must be sad to be that clueless.

Gravatar Now let me see... We've got John Anonymous arguing against the progress in Iraq, and General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker arguing for the progress in Iraq.
Now whom, I wonder, should I believe? Hmmmm...

Gravatar Exactly Roger. Plus families returning and citing safety as the reason they are returning. Lowering death tolls. Decreasing Iranian weapons. Parades being held against al-Qaeda in Ramadi. Citizens turning against al-Qaeda. Iraqi's declaring the defeat of al-Qaeda. The MSM finally starting to report the news because they no longer can deny it.

Seems the only ones denying it are those that haven't been keeping up with the news or are deliberately ignoring it.

Which is why I said, poor John. I actually am starting to pity them.
