This is extremely scary. Quite a while ago I commented somewhere that all the jihadis had to do to create havoc here in the U.S. was pull off a Beslan (sp?) type school takeover and then go on TV and threaten to kill one child a day until their demands were met.
Why this hasn't yet happened is to me just by the grace of God.
We can only hope that our local police forces and our national anti-terror units are prepared for this horrifying scenario.
Unfortunately, when people spend all of the time and energy trying to figure out new ways to hurt us, we cannot thwart them all.
However, having said that, they HAVE NO IDEA how much we love our children, and if they ever did harm any of them I hope that that would be the goddam spark that starts the fire. Close all mosques immediately. Immediately imprison all potential Muslim men who may in any way pose a threat to our children's safety. Then start bombing the hell out of Afghanistan and the Tora Bora.
If they ever did harm any of our children I believe this would finally push us over the edge.
Then God help the jihadis!
Part of the problem is that we've got to put this damned notion of political correctness to the wayside once and for all and stop worrying if we're going to OFFEND these people.

Well, they are hoping that Americans go bloody batty and stomp the living guts out of every hapless muslim they come across. And certain elements of society will do just that.
In Islamic Jurisprudence, I am reliably informed, an attack on innocent muslims will give their crazy preachers the chance to issue a fatwah calling for the destruction of America. Then they can detonate several WMD at once all over America, for their Day of Islam.
Oh - the bit about Islamic Jurisprudence comes from an old book by Yossef Bodansky called the "High Cost Of Peace" Well worth the read as is his last book "Secret History of the Iraq War".
Parents with children in school need to find out exactly what kind of plans for a terrorist attack they have in place. They need to find out if any drills are practiced and if not why not.
These people have one objective...it isn't to kidnap or hold for ransom. Their purpose is to kill...to provoke us. They won't go into the schools thinking about how they will escape...nope...their sole purpose is to kill our children and if they die in the process then so be it.
Your school had better have a plan and they had better be working very closely with law enforcement to secure our children.
Some schools have unarmed security guards in place. What good will they be if terrorists attack with AK-47's or other weapons?

Courtneyme, as much as I usually agree with you, this time I have to take exception to what you've just said.
They ALREADY think that we have slaughtered thousands of innocent Muslims, and that this has already provided them with the justification to murder as many of us as they can. Just read the speeches of UBL.
And on the subject of fatwas, they've already issued hundreds of fatwas against America, and they continue to issue them almost every week in their bloody Friday "sermons".
And, finally, the problem here in the U.S. isn't our proclivity to attack innocent Muslims but, rather, our inablity to confront ANY Muslims about ANY of their murderous anti-American rhetoric.
If anything, in my view, we need MORE elements in our society who are willing to bring the fight to these treacherous enemies who are living amongst us.
It's up to the Muslims to define and proclaim their patriotism, not us; until they do, and do it with a clear unequivocal voice, to me ALL Muslims are and should be suspect

Schools need to take the initiative and arm some reliable teachers and administrators.

Hi Roger. Thanks for info. I thought that too. I recently learned that OBL's fave cleric granted a fatwah for killing 2 million American children. This may be significant - after all - it wasn't women and children, or innocents. It was kids. Maybe it is thin - but there it is.
If terrorists are like dogcatchers, guitar players or retail sales people - they talk to each other about what works, what doesn't etc.
The model for this type of attack is Beslan. The creeps had stashed their weaponry well in advance and just had to show up and break it out. Notice they picked a school where the guys were too little to fight back and the girls were old enough to - well you know. They were also armed with those pills for older guys. They were planning to get their 72 before they entered the perfumed halls of Allah.
This type of low tech attack (complete with broadcast quality cameras, streaming internet) is designed for one thing - to enrage Americans. For what? My first post is only a guess - but dang, I say it's a good one.

Courtney, my pleasure, it is nice to have a group that actually use their brains and think for themselves, even when we do not agree 100%, we are able to present out facts, we all provide links to sources and are able to back up our opinions.

Our kids go to a DoD school and have been having terrorist drills for a year now. I am grateful to the them for ensuring my childrens safety and training them on how to react to this. It needs to be done.
The fact that my 7 year old comes home and says, guess what mommy, we're going to start having lockdowns tomorrow, ticks me off to no end. You see for me, no 7 year old should have to know the word lockdown and terrorist and understand what they mean. They should be worrying about how many frogs they can catch before the get home and if they're going to catch hell for getting their new sneakers wet trying to catch said frogs, or hey, bet I can climb waaay up to that little bitty branch in that tree.
Am I ticked at the school? No, they're doing the right thing based on our reality. Am I pissed at the terrorist for taking away what should be the carefree years of my children lives? Damn straight!

this scenario is far more likely to happen in the UK or France than in America. For example, the UK has a far higher number of Jihadists (about 5,000) than in America.

John, I appreciate your remarks, and although your Muslim problem is certainly a lot more scary than ours, I don't really feel that much more secure. One thing that Beslan proved was that it doesn't take that many people to pull it off.
