Obama's gamble is that he will be able to increase the percentage of Black voters, from 10% to say 90%.
One should not play Obama's victim game by "victimizing" him; in other words, don't play his race card, play yours in focussing on your candidate and ignoring him or saying meaningless platitudes on him. Anyway that seems to be Mr. McCain's strategy.

I suspect the close Polls reflect the George Mason University recent study, that found that the majority of Obama's Media coverage has been negative.
I realize those here have a different view, but if ya can put your bias' aside, how much scrutiny is McCain receiving?
The Media, basically, has accepted the McCain narrative, that he is a Maverick, Hero, GOP-Defying, Independent, Straight-Talking Foreign Policy wizard, without challenge... despite evidence to the contrary.
Anyone that hasn't already made up their minds, are most likely not the types that go find info about the candidates themselves. In other words, they need to be fed.
If all they hear is Obama, Obama, Obama... Muslim, Rev Wright, Arrogant, Presumptuous, Lapel Pin, Celebrity, Experience, etc, and the McCain Narrative, as constructed by McCain himself - - it's actually a wonder that Obama isn't losing by a landslide.
Imagine the Media uproar, if the situation was reversed Saturday Night, and Obama wasn't where he agreed to be, but instead was in a motorcade.
I suspect many of you would have a different opinion of such behavior, than you do now.
Without any Media scrutiny of McCain, Obama hasn't a chance... so y'all can rest easy...

jon,
It sounds to me like you're simply parroting the right's view of Obama. . .that Obama has been kid-gloved by the media in all interviews and debates thus far, that his avoidance of any direct answers to questions has gone unremarked upon by the prime-movers of the press.
How much scrutiny is McCain receiving? Heh. Ask yourself how much scrutiny they were placing on the Democrat candidates that they completely missed the long-running two-timing of Edwards, who was so sly about it as to meet her at a hotel where a journalism convention was being held. Now, imagine that it had been one of the Republican candidates. . .can you honestly say you believe they would have waited almost a week after National Enquirer published the details to report on it? Come on, even the Pew Research Institute has acknowledged a massive liberal media bias. Only the willfully blind still deny it.
Fact is, Obama's utter lack of experience is now plaguing him. Forced to go head to head with McCain, a veteran on a wide variety of political issues, it'll be lucky for Obama if he doesn't see a landslide in McCain's favor.

Yashmak - - always nice to answer a question about scrutiny of McCain, with a question about John Edwards.
Again, where's the scrutiny of John McCain?
McCain has flipped on every issue, that he was allegedly a *Maverick* on. Yet, he's still a *Maverick.* What about the *Keating 5*... we hear about Bill Ayers, etc, but not Keating?
Or why only Michelle Obama, and nothing about Cindy McCain?
Obama has been under intense scrutiny, since it appeared he might win the Dem nomination. Most of the coverage is formulated through a GOP talking-point, whether it was Rev Wright, Lapel Pins, his trip abroad, whatever. Even the questions asked during the Dem Primary Debates, were through a GOP Talking-Point prism. Very few questions about Dem issues, like education, infrastructure, health care, torture, civil rights, etc.
By the way, I was leaning toward McCain until he started his negative ads, going against the campaign he said he'd run... on issues.
I do media research for a living.
While many reporters may lean left in their private lives, it's not reflected in actual reporting. I know you and so many, like to believe the opposite, but as I said, check out the George Mason U study... it is science, and it was done by the same people the GOP often cite, to prove their points.
This one didn't fit the GOP narrative, obviously.
Other than Keith Olbermann, Obama gets all the scrutiny. Try putting your bias aside, and watch/listen. You'll see what I mean.
As for me parroting the *right,* I have no idea what you're talking about

THe only stars that have aligned against Obama are the ones he's been seeing after getting pummeled by his own gaffes and miscalculations--and his megalomaniac lust for power.
Those plus the stars from the punches that John McCain has already landed.
And to think: Should Obama or whatever his real name is actually be nominated in Denver, the real contest hasn't even begun.

Okay, Jon, as it appears you're being purposely obtuse I'll explain it to you. McCain is a known quantity--he's been scrutinized for over 20 years.
Obama is an unknown quantity with less than 150 days in the US Senate. We know--rather KNEW--next to nothing about him, other than his opportunistic, Chicago thug style politics. Information is coming out and it's not pretty. In fact, it's pretty damn ugly. And people are no longer drinking the koolaid. Hillary said it pretty well--she would bring experience, McCain would bring experience and BHO would bring a speech.
As for Cindy? There's been plenty written about her, particularly her humanitarian efforts, her self-confessed addiction to pain killers, etc. There is NONE of the same for Michelle.
You say you do media research for a living. Well, if that's the truth--and I seriously doubt it--you aren't doing a very good job if you can't find over 20 years of scrutiny on McCain, next to nothing on the Obamas and quite a bit on Cindy.
Maybe your boss pays you way too much. Now, go do your homework. Don't come back until you can sound like a rational adult instead of a spoiled shill for the loony libs who are mad they're boy--yes, BOY--lost to experience.

Not only are the swing states starting to go for McCain but so are some solid blue states. Look for Pennsylvania and New Jersey to swing for McCain. Florida and Michigan are still pissed at Obama and the Democrats (they elected a Republican as governor last time around). Even New York might go to McCain.

Jon, well after reading your post I wanted to say much, but after reading what Miss Beth wrote, I can't add much to that other than to say thank you Miss Beth for such a quick but dead on explanation, so Jon, please do your homework like the note says, really you won't find much on Nobama, you will find tons of information on the MAN, that would be John McCain, he is the MAN too!
Happy Reading!

jon,
Miss Beth covered it pretty well. Nice to see you're still projecting your bias onto the rest of us. If that helps you maintain it, well, different strokes, eh?
If you're going to start pressing the flip-flopping button, I'll simply ask if you're not actually looking at Obama in the mirror. There's no denying that McCain has changed his position on some issues over time. . .over the years and years of his experience (and no, that doesn't make me very happy in some cases). . .however Obama has flip-flopped on almost every one of his main campaign platforms IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS. The war in Iraq? He changed his position on a speedy withdrawal almost immediately after he became the presumptive nominee. . .and that's just the most obvious example. Comparatively speaking, McCain has been a paragon of consistency.

.. might it be that the almost spoken word by Obama regarding Justice Thomas ( INEX.. periance) is realy the reason that Obama flops so many times.. Ignorance of Facts tend to have one make a total ass of oneself propmting " advisors" to make him say diffrent things on same subjests depending of which advisor is handy...

Obama changes his position as soon as a poll comes out. McCain admits when he was wrong about an original position on an issue and why he has changed his mind.
That's the difference between an adult mind (McCain) and a child's mind (Obama).
