for years and years, the leftists among us have been whittling away at our indignation at the pc crowd and removing our freedoms and liberities. the people at the end of the educational trail are merely the most well paid of the people throughout the educational trail.
remove liberal bias from the entire educational cycle and remove political correctness from our society and these types of things will begin to disappear from the landscape of our lives.

The Columbia pres said it was about "freedom of speech" when he defended his invitation to the little Iranian Psycho. Freedom of speech does not require us to give someone a platform to speek, only that we cannot stop them in public or private from speaking. Somehow people have corrupted the right to free speech to mean that they have the right to say what they want and WE HAVE TO LISTEN. And that is pure crap.
I also think that a liberal defending free speech while shoving politcal correctness down society's throat is hypocrisy on the Gore level

I find it hard to believe its the higher education institutions. Great thinkers might be there, but to whom do you listen all day? TV, radio internet. Its polticians and reality tv stars and pimped out pop stars and loud mouths on either side... Thats what shapes up a society nowadays.

I agree with you Ron, it is a bogus defence for the reason you said. Didn't you like it though? The slap in the face by not only allowing but promoting. Except for the way he received him, which only brings shame to himself and a bad name to the institution. It was risky though... Ahmadinejad could have gained from that conference, it could have been a good PR move (expecially after being insulted), but he didnt, he couldnt, he blew it by showing once again the nutcase he his. Do you HONESTLY think there wasn't a major cut and paste job to make him look great and us look like idiots? That was the whole point of getting a platform--his propaganda machine.
The left didn't lose any love for him--they're still fawning all over him, so where do you get the idea he came off looking nuttier than he already is?
And, yes, it IS our "ivory tower" institutions (aka colleges) that put the final, finishing touchs on the brainwashing of the youth into the mindless liberals we see regenerating year after year--where did the protests and riots originate in the 60's and 70" College campuses.
As far as which freedoms the left has removed? My FREEDOM AND RIGHT to mention my faith (Catholic) without a lawsuit being threatened while appeasing islam. The freedom to have a christmas pageant at school. The freedom to wear a cross openly. The freedom to decorate my office with religious symbols important to me. The freedom to speak my mind without the thought police. The freedom (as of yesterday and if I live in California) to smoke in my own damn home or car. The freedom to defend myself, my family and my home against intruders as I see fit without screeching how I hurt someone else's rights. The freedom to fly my flag when I choose and how I choose--the flag for MY country, the US of A. The freedom to speak honestly without political correctness. The freedom to earn a living without being taxed to hell.
Shall I go on?
Get over your naivete and get your head into the real world. These people want to kill us and annihilate Israel. What part of that don't you understand? You would choose to appease them. And the liberals do appease them. That takes away my freedom to live in peace and replaces it with an underlying fear.
Where in the Constitution does it extend citizens rights to non citizens? Where exactly is that written?

Political correctness is the bane of our free existence. The courts creating law by precedence is devaluing our laws. The fact that a burglar can sue someone for shooting him while committing a crime and win is insane. The fact that I cannot speak my mind in public without being attacked and accused of hate crimes or bigotry is a stain upon the Bill of Rights.
And let me tell you, it is not Conservatives that are doing it to America, it is Liberals.
