I could not agree more. We have no support from the people that know nothing about what we are fighting. I actually heard one Congresswoman say \"bring our babies home\". I wonder who elects these people, certainly not me, or anyone I know. Illegal is over their heads, volunteer is just too difficult for them to understand. What they do understand, is if you have no morals, duty, hopes, or dreams, you are electable. Never stand by what you believe, or you lose the election. This is exactly what our enemy depended on, and continue to get, for it is the only way they can win. Great support, Congress. Way to support the enemy. One last comment, most Americans get the news from a biased source, and it is up to Congress to provide reason, not debate a war in progress. Before, fine, make your case. After, good, make that case. Never during, for it destroys all reason. I support the Men and Women that volunteered to support our country. Apparently Congress thinks they are idiots and babies...how pathetic.

Not a soul that I have dealt with in my business, nor anyone I know personally Greg.
I deal with people from all walks of life..... people from all different countries come to our sales because they have a need for Industrial machinery and politics is often discussed as we sit around and wait for the start time, they also sit with me for lengths of time when writing me huge checks for the machinery and again, not one of them can see any good coming from our defeat in Iraq.
Not a ONE agrees with withdrawal, defunding, or these resolutions.
Basically, people like YOU are the only ones that seem to disagree.

For people who claim to care about our troops dying, you all (Anti-war activists, politicians) sure seem to want to make sure that our troops get maimed or killed. I can't understand how you can rationalize cutting funding and not sending additional troops to help. So, your stance is that by not sending more troops, you are saving lives? I have never heard anything so incredibly stupid in my life! By not sending more troops, and cutting aid, you are deserting our forces that are already in country. So, you are that willing to sign their death warrants? Disgusting! You all make me sick!
Becky, I really do not think they care about the troops, one way or another...I say this because they refuse to listen to the troops on the ground, people like William Arkin who is part of the manstream media calls them mercenaries and our politicians that care more about their future careers than they do our troops and your husbands lives.
You have every right to be pissed and Greg there has never bothered listing any \"proof\" to his \"claims\", so don't let it rile ya.
Bush won't back down and congress can piss and moan and vote on non binding \"symbolic\" resolutions until the cows come home, but Bush IS the one that makes the call and he has made it... he was voted in TWICE to do so, so for the next two years, they will do everything in their power to undermine him, not caring at all that in doing so, they are undermining the troops.
By the way...Greg, meet Becky, one of our new writers here at Wake up America, her husband was injured and almost lost a leg in Iraq in 2004 and guess what? He reenlisted for 6 more years, because he has been there and knows how important it is, and guess what else? Many of the members of HIS unit reenlisted with him.

If you read my post you'd see that I support this latest gambit (to include funding it).
What I don't want is for us to be in Iraq forever. I saw this during Vietnam; how every week they'd trot out a new 'strategy to win' and they inevitably failed. We've had more than enough time to have 'won' in Iraq if it was possible. Becky I'm grateful for your husband's service, but I disagree with his boss (the one in the White House).
And, by way even Fox News polls show a majority of Americans think this war is not winnable.
perhaps you two need to get out a little more.
Greg, we are still in Germany for god sake... you KNOW how this works, but if you are only talking about the massive amounts of troops.... tell me something, honestly... Do you really think ANYONE wants us to have a major force in Iraq forever??
We don't...what we want is the politicians to stop playing political games and support the troops and the strategy until we stabilize Iraq.
Do I think Iraq will ever be totally violence free? NO, hell WE are not violence free here in America, and I do not expect Iraq to be any better than we are.
If you tuly DO support this latest strategy, have you emailed your congressman? Senator? Have you called them? Have you done anything to make your voice heard?
Just a few suggestions for you if you truly think that our troops deserve the support they have asked for, for a mission THEY believe is worthy.
They are there, they KNOW these people now and they think they are worth fighting for.... shouldn't we fight just as hard from here to help them and to get our politicians to stop working to undermine them just because they hate the president?

He says he IS supporting the surge and hoping it works... which brought me to asking how many congressmen and women and senators he has called to oppose the resolutions.

Hey Greg--you are getting all your info from the biased media. Perhaps you should get out more! I get my info not from the TV, but, from the troops that are actually there, or have been there. Like I said in my post, WHO exactly are the people that are being polled? No one I know. Were you part of the poll? Is anyone you know included in that poll? I find it laughable that you have no problem repeating verbatim what you hear on the news, instead of finding out the truth before spewing your garbage. And you tell Spree & I that WE need to get out more?? LMAO!
Becky, If people do get their information from the MSM then consider this: The MSM is now starting to report the successes and progress in Iraq now on a daily basis, so maybe people will start to realize how much was being hidden from them before this \"new strategy\", if not....they deserve the lies they are being fed.
The war on terror cannot be won until the perception of progress is relayed to the American people.
They were never told that 75% of Iraq is running effectively and that only 25% is not.
They were never told about the body count of the enemy vs the death count of our fine military.
They were never told of the daily news releases that Centcom provides, some bad and some good, so they never had access to half of the story.
The amazing question that comes from all of this is:
Why the American people did not demand the truth and were willing to accpet the half truths and distortions?
They accepted it, as is, they deserved it.

I for one do not want to see the funding cut, That would only hurt our troops. But I do not belive in the occupation of Iraq. I was there for the first 19 months. As I support my fellow brothers and all armed forces. I am still active and will do what my Country asks of me. We still were all lied to. There was no weapons of mass destruction, Yes Sadamm needed to be removed, But we also gave him the power he held. We supported him gave him his weapons to help us in a fight with Iran. The whole thing was about Nuclear weapons to start, Then it was to FORCE our democratic belief on a Country that did not ask for it. How would any of you feel if China, Japan, Attacked us and occupied our soil to force the way of life unto us? That would be terroism in your eyes, But we do it and it's called Freedom for Iraq? Now on the other hand we have North Korea which is a threat to our life and those of alot of other Countries, Yet we do nothing. Why Because we will lose that fight. We thought Iraq would be like before in and out in months. Didn't work, Now we are stuck in a long battle that is un-winable, Why is it un-winable. They don't want a democracy there. It's all been smoke and mirrors, As for the biased media. Yes our countries media is very Biased and telling us what they want us to believe. Now as for your sources they are also biased, Yes standing behind your own Country is biased, The men and women fighting are biased. Need to look for the imformation on your own from a un-biased source. Plenty on the net. Search other countries news sources. Let's all support our Troops, But don't buy into the smoke and mirrors.

Well said and although I only agree with about half of it, I DO, indeed, hunt information from multiple sources before believing any of it, even then I am skeptical sometimes.
Whatever our reasons for going into Iraq, we are there and due to that fact we owe them better than to abandon them to fate that could match the Cambodia killing fields.
We started something and we are a country of honor, or we used to be, and honor demands we finish it and help those that DO want help....example: the 12 million people that raised their thumbs in pride showing off their ink stained fingers.
No, there were no WMD's, but I also remember that one reason given was \"states that sponsor terror\" and there is PLENTY of proof available, as you suggest, on the internet, showing that Sddam did sponsor terror, paid suicide bombers families, gave medical care to al-Qaeda members and allowed them a safe haven.
Seems that memories here are short when people try to rewrite history and claim that WMD's were the ONLY reason we went into Iraq.

You are right Spree, WMD's was not the only reason. Yet, I firmly believe there are behind the scene reasons other than the ones stated. Yes Saddam harbored terroists. Yet so has the USA. We started Saddam when we needed him, Gave him the power he held. When he snubbed us after we gave him it all, We went and hired Osama bin Laden. It's funny how the people we gave the weapons too are the ones we want to take the weapons away from. I understand that was other administrations that did those stupid acts. I also applaud the commander and chief for trying to make a difference in this sad world of ours. I do not forget & will never forget the look on the Iraq's faces when Saddam toppled. I Don't think we should just up and leave. I do think we have been draggin our feet in training them to control their own country, And in many other ways. Because it means money. I think all politicians are crooked. Always ulterior motives. Everyone wants to point at 9-11. There is alot of fishy things that went wrong that day, Things they refuse to show and explain.

I have no disagreement with any of your last comment John. We have made mistakes, we DID arm these maniacs and it will take decades to undo the harm WE have done via North Korea by appeasing the little thug...
I am also not blaming Clinton for NK because at the time, he tried something that needed to be tried, got screwed and hopefully we have learned...... THERE is the kicker.
Now people want to appease others even after these lessons... it is why I personally believe the Democrats, as a party, are not capable of handling national security.
Dragging our feet, I hand that one to you also, because we HAVE made mistakes in Iraq.... does that mean that any and all new strategies should be thrown out the window simply because they are \"Bush\" strategies?
Take a look around, in the news....look at how the politicians came out against the new strategy BEFORE it was formed or announced... look at how congress completely ignores the videos of the soldiers TELLING them that these non binding resolutions were hurting morale as they force votes on them, as they ignore anything that supports the completion of what we have started.
Look at the world of politics TODAY.... why is a politicians next election more important than our troops asking for moral support?
Why would anyone believe that if implemented correctly (which in the past it wasn't) to include counter insurgency now, that there is NO chance for success when our military IS more than capable of achieving success?
Why would our own politicians do everything in their power to STOP any successes we are finally seeing?
These are questions they should have to answer....will they?

Totally agree with you Spree. Give the new stratigies a chance. We have the best armed forces in the world. But all in all we are still in the middle of a Iraq civil war. Each side wants to hold the power after all is said and done, Which is why I feel this war is un-winable. Either it will stay the course as it had with slow moving progress. Or they will fall back wait for us to leave and attack once again. I know it's worth the fight we are giving. But with our politicians, Politics come first then US men and women fighting.

I agree and I sincerely hope our men and women are given the tools this time to win and not have their hands tied by the Iraqi politicians OR our American politicians.
If there job is to stop the insurgency to allow the politicians to obtain some breathing space, then we need to push the politics out of the way, let our soldiers do what they are trained to do and stomp the hell out of the insurgents and terrorists, THEN get down to politics.
I personally belive that if our military had been given these rules of engagement to begin with, we would probably be far ahead of where we are now.
They are great at what they do, they should be allowed to DO IT.
