There was a story that said that the head of the the Alaska Independent Party claimed that Sarah Palin and her husband were both members. That source has since retracted the part about Sarah being a member and so it was something like "debunked" but no one is disputing the fact that Todd was a member of the party or that Sarah has courted them.
It's also not as crazy an idea in Alaska as it might be in the rest of the country that they should consider seceding ... not as fringe. As long as she is running for Alaskan office I don't think that she needs to worry about her connection to that party.
But even if it were only her husband who considered taking those resources away from America to go it alone ... it might not play well with history buffs who remember why so many Americans died in battle in the middle of the 19th century.
