You fabricate a dumb opposing viewpoint in order to argue that yours is better.
Nobody is saying that the government shouldn't listen to terrorist communications. The only people that suggest that are right-wingers setting up false choices.
The reason people, including me, are pissed about the Democrats allowing this to happen is that the added capability has no oversight. Had the Dems passed the bill with FISA monitoring, I, and most left leaning types, would be perfectly happy.
Instead, we are supposed to trust Alberto, Torture Memo, Gonzales to make sure there is no abuse. Out of the question.

Once again, you would rather attack Gonzales than to keep US safe.
False logic.
The fact our intelligence gathering capabilities might just save my or even your life one day..safety should override your hatred of one or two men, but as is the case with most that are hitting out at the Democrats for passing this, it doesn't.

Hatred blurs reason and blinds rationality, hence the attacks on Gonzoles by the leftinistras and their lack of understanding that intelligence gathering practices have to evolve as technology evolves.
Mr. T used to have an expression that I think fits nicely here, "I pity the fool."
