This became more than obvious to me over the past several months. As you know, I am a Patriot Guard Rider. Since I have been working in the DC area, I not only get mission alerts from my home state of Illinois, I get them from DC, Md, Va, W Va., and Arlington National Cemetary
Earlier in the year I would get honor mission alerts for our young men and women who were killed in action or wounded in the war on terror on a daily basis. Many times more than one.
I am so happy that things have changed. My mission statements now include many surprise welcome escort missions. There are still those that bring sadness though. The Vets from our greatest generation are leaving us as are the Vets from my era.
I feel that our brave young men and women who are serving now will continue to remember those who served before
The surge still hasn't worked because there has been no political reconciliation. The surge as laid out last year by President Bush never had a lowering of Coalition deaths as a goal.
Frederick, just because you wish to ignore the progress and stick your head in the sand doesn't mean everyone else is as the rising support for iraq has shown over the last few months.
The lowering of deaths is only a small fraction of what has been happenining. The bottom up reconciliation is part of it. The fact that while no official laws have passed the monies have been spread out locally. The fact that the overall violence which WAS part of the stated reason, has decreased to the lowest levels. The beating back of al-Qaeda WAS a stated goal and is being done and as Dick Durbin COMPLAINED of, we are running out of targets to kill, hence the enemiy is losing.
Try to keep up with the news.
I have only listed a few of the wonderful examples of how well things are going and by denying the progress that even the media is being forced to acknowledge says all my readers need to know about you.
They expect overnight sensations, instant gratification.
It comes from a fast food, convenience store societal mindset.
