The problem is that when you discuss supporting someone "if he wins", you are already yielding the upper ground. I'm with Ann - unless McCain wins. Then I'll have to make a decision, and it's not all that clear cut. Certainly what you say is true and a factor - but for Lieberman, he's not really stepping outside his boundary. For me, McCain is outside my boundary - he's a right-leaning Democrat, as far as I'm concerned, and I'm a Republican . Voting for him does not make sense. I think the point that as president, he is the leader of his party, and as such, Republicans in Congress would have a difficult time resisting his legislation, whereas if the President was a Democrat, the Republicans in Congress would be free to obstruct to their hearts' content is a valid one. Another point is that the Iraq conflict may be pretty well not a factor by the time 09 rolls around.
So...I don't know. The primaries aren't over till they're over, and I don't think I want to yield an inch till there's an official nominee. Then - _if_ McCain is the nominee, all these things come into play. Notice though, that people aren't talking about whether McCain backers would support Romney...why not? Because they assume they'll win and they don't have to consider it? Maybe...so why should _I_ assume that Romney's _not_ going to win?
Wait till after the primaries are complete - then let's talk!

I have no problem with waiting until AFTER the primaries, but then those that are saying, IF McCain wins they will vote for Hillary should also wait.
People like Coulter should fight for who she wants to win, NOT act like a child and stomp her feet because she doesn't like who is being "projected" to win.

You all say I should grow up but look who John McCain has Dr. Juan Hernandez as McCain's Hispanic outreach director. Juan is for open borders. If I wanted to live in Mexico, I would have moved there. McCain is a traitor to this country pure and simple. He is letting Mexico rape and pillage this country. If this is the best the Republicans have to offer, I am taking my ball and leaving. I will vote for Hillary out of spite for McCain and all those liberal republicans that made McCain the nominee. You made your bed, now sleep in it. A vote for McCain is a vote for open borders so the country will be destroyed if either Hillary or McCain wins so I am taking the fast road to hell and voting for Hillary.
