Same here Bob. I hate writing these, but people NEED to understand what their "friends" are doing and why we see them with the contempt we do.

I know Gunny Nelson. He and I have had many conversations, sharing memories and swapping war stories. The man keeps that place like he owns it...well in a way he does, part of him like me and so many other veterans are there in that place. He's a decorated Marine and I consider him a brother. Gunny has been there-done that and he did it with honor. He had tears in his eyes when he spoke about the unspeakable things that these animals did.
I cannot find the words to express my outrage and I pray I never come across the slime that did this. If I do you'll be reading about it in the papers and probably hear it on the national news.
Perhaps after the memorial is cleaned up and restored I can send pictures to you Spree and Snooper along with a little history about how this memorial came to be. It is...was beautiful and it will be again.
I suggested a 24/7 watch but nobody wants to pay for that. California vets may just do it on their own dime, we shall see. If so you can bet I will be a part of that. Mid watch is ok by me and I can even bring the dog.

In the age of cheap remote camera's we need to identify some of these slugs and get their names out in public. There are enough old Vietnam vets with not long to live (me for one) that won't mind spending the time in prison to rid the world of the democrat slugs. I call them democrat slugs because that is who supports them under the table. Right now the leading democrat, Shrillary, is a socialist and next up, Osama Obama, is a radical Islamist. That's what the democrats have in mind, destroy all freedom in the country by turning the country against the ones that protect the freedoms. Congress is now under control of the slugs of the country. A slug (aka democrat) is a slow moving animal that leaves a trail of slime where ever they go. Perfect description of todays democrat traitors.

great site. found you through michelle malkin and now i just can't stop reading. the treatment of these sacred (yes, i said it: sacred) places and memorials is disgusting, but not surprising. for years the left has been advocating less and less accountability and greater and greater arrogance and idiocy. abuse and distruction of anything to do with a force that stands for the exact opposite of those liberal policies is bound to be hated by the left. thanks for the great stuff - i'll link this for my site.

Shameful cowards. this is a sign of desparation and looks like a last gasp attempt to get attention. But not one mention in any of the local papers. If it wasn't for the blogs, it would be like it never happened.
Well they got our attention. I have plans for this weekend (work), but will do everything I can to get off and make the trip to DC.

Yes guys. All people who oppose the war are nothing more than vermin who desecrate war memorials. Just like all you guys are a bunch of murderous rightwing wackos like Timothy McVeigh.
Sadly you can't make the distinction between people who can point to all of the reasons why this is a stupid war waged by stupid men, and a handful of delusional hippies who think that attacking memorials will solve the problem or retards like you who support Bush no matter what he does.
This is exactly why you've gotten yourself into this mess, and why people like you are making it worse.
America is cruising for a Darwin Award, and you guys are to blame. Your empire is crumbling. Good luck with that.

John, because you obviously cannot read or you would have seen we are VERY careful to separate radical far left unhinged liberals from the moderates who DO support our troops and just disagree with the war, I will point it out because it shows you would rather comment and prove your ignorance rather than browse around and see the truth.
Now, many moderates are denouncing acts like this and still able to disagree on the war, but those that do NOT denounce these acts will, and should be, associated with them.
THERE is NO MIDDLE GROUND HERE, THEY DO NOT DENOUNCE THIS DISGUSTING DISPLAY, THEY ARE OWNED BY IT.
As are you from your latest comment.

The democrats are not aligned with these idiots. The idiots are the core of the democrat party. Find out how many democrats have stood up for Gen Petraeus after the sliming by the MorOn.org wing of the democrat party. You can count them on one hand and won't need the thumb. Hsu passed millions of dollars in stolen money to the democrats and got caught. Everyone in the world knows that Soros is a wanted man in France but the democrats keep accepting millions of dollars in stolen money from him. Pelossshi vowed to drain the congressional swamp of corruption. I guess she forgot about draining the swamp when she found herself up to her a** in criminal alligators (aka democrats criminals).

I served my country for 6 years active duty. I felt morally oblogated to do so. We that have served GET IT. We understand why we must protect our sovereignty. Its why young millitary personal are signing back up to return to combat. While those spineless cowards deface a memorial think it will help there movement. Then the politial left supports groups that encourage this crap. To them its just marble and brass to spray paint there ignorance. While to us its tears and a gut wrenching pain of memories protecting the rights of all. With the media in the pockets of the left. All we see is body count numbers from them. This just inflames the ignorance of the cowards. They don't show why the millitary personal are willing to give there lifes for our country. They don't show the good our millitary is doing in theatre. Just blood and guts to scare the viewers into watching more. Mold there point of view to get their canidate higher in the polls. Its just numbers to make them more money. It sickens me how they obscure the truth. The left places blame on the right. Yet they are the majority. They have changed nothing. All they have done is put our country in a dead lock. Only our millitary is functioning. They have keep the evil from attacking us for six years. We have on the other hand took the fight to their back yard for that six years. Yet the left says give up the fight and accuses the commander and chief of killing inocent personal and turning our solders into murders. It sickens me that the accusers have never served a day of there life to the country. While our solders eat sand. They do so with honor knowning our children can eat ice cream and play without a care in the world. Yet the left doesn't GET IT. It sickens me. Its time the vets let the left know what honor is. Why we cry standing in front of marble and brass. Why their action are so vile and it sickens me.

I am a moderate who works to send care packages to our soldiers in Iraq and also tries to support policies which will bring the American participation in the Iraq conflict to an end. I am saddened by the defacement of American war memorials and would hope that those who oppose the war could do so in a more civil fashion. I am afraid it is a sign of the lack of appropriate discourse, name-calling, etc., on both sides.
But in a different note, I've read the ad about General Petraeus from moveon.org, and I'm not sure I understand why people find it inappropriate. Could someone explain it to me?
Thanks in advance.

So you support the troops in a way that goes against what the majority ASK FOR?
If you need the reasons explained to you as to why the MoveOn ad was innappopriate to question a man that has given 35+ years of unblelmsihed service to his country...that tells me all I need to know about you.
Go elsewhere, because not not understand the basic premise of questioning a man with undisputed credentials, means you do not understand the word patriotism at all.
TRY LISTENING TO THE TROOPS THEMSELVES. They have earned the right to be heard and NOT ignored by the likes of you.

I am extremely saddened by your reply, because I was truly searching for different points of view. I apologize for any offense (which was unintended), but I don't think you do know enough about me to characterize me in any way. You would be wrong in assuming I do not know any soldiers and Marines currently in Iraq and Afghanistan, including family members, and you would also be wrong in believing I am not listening to their viewpoints (which are not all unanimous, incidentally). I believe that it is NEVER inappropriate to question someone's statements, regardless of his or her record or history. That is a part of our American liberties, in my opinion. You can discuss whether the way in which the rebuttal was framed was in poor taste, but the information imparted should, in my opinion, be dealt with on its merits.
Would no one care to answer me honestly, and without vitriol? How can we ever communicate, if all we do is insult each other?

I was simply pointing out that the majority of soldiers that are speaking out are speaking of victory, not retreat.
Find me 3285 active military, many of which IN Iraq right now that counter the numbers I have provided and then, believe me, I will be more tolerant.
But as long as the majority of active duty soldiers are speaking out for victory and NOT retreat in defeat, I will fight with body and soul to give them the support THEY ask for.
Not to claim to support them by listening to the minority of active soldiers that are speaking out.
Sorry, but I do not consider THAT support at all.
You claim to want a discussion and we give you the sites and the evidence of the numbers WE quote, yet you do not provide evidence of those same numbers?
That is not a discussion, that is a debate of opinions. I deal in FACTS and figures and I have provided them.

Thanks very much for the information. I will read each link you have provided.
If you would like to sway people to your side, this kind of exchange is helpful, in my opinion.
Would you really like me to provide some information supporting my contention that our presence in Iraq MAY (note, I use the conditional term) be not helping, but rather only prolonging the inevitable, while costing many American as well as Iraqi lives? Please note, I am not including Afghanistan in this discussion.
Regardless, I would be happy to provide you with some information if you would truly be interested in reading it.

Hello again. I'm reading through the links you provided, and they are indeed very interesting. But they are not really answering my question about General Petraeus' report. I still would like to understand why people are upset that General Petraeus' information contradicts the GAO's report, for example. Why should we not question both the GAO and General Petraeus?

Laura I am a link whore...LOL I read everything.
GAO was given a specific mandate to report what political progress has NOT been made, they were mandated that by Congress that control what the report will entail.
General Petraeus is there as is Amabassador Crocker and they were under no such restrictions. They were to report ALL progress and challenges which they did.
They were very up front about the difficulties that still face us and they were also very clear, credibly so about victory being achievable.
Petreaus statement in full:
http://wwwwakeupamericans-spree....raeus-
text.html
One does not take a GAO report, a group that even on their sites states they WORK for Congress and are given their "mandate" about what the report should entail, by congress, and even attempt to compare it to a full report detailing the good, the bad, the ugly from individuals that are ON THE GROUND in iraq, which the GAO, isn't.
There IS no comparison and the only reason the Democrats mandated that report in the way they did was to try to temper any reactions of the petraeus report before he had even made it.
