The post is a good summary of who you are. I'm one of the blessed ones who gets to know you personally and I love you, Spunky!

I love it! We are NOT, however, a suburb of the UN - yet.

I love this and La Shawn was right.
Kate

PS: So you believe strongly in homeschooling? That was new to me...

Gravatar Thanks Jackie, I love you and your family too!

Kate, I'll work harder to make it more obvious then. LOL.

Gravatar It's good to have a face to put to the writing.

Gravatar My oldest son was born at St. John's Hospital in Detroit (just outside Grosse Pointe). We spent 19 days there waiting for Ohio to approve our adoption but we're proud of our little Michigan boy (who is now 2 and brother to a little Tennessee boy, 4 months old). His birthmommy is part of the Focus Hope project if you've heard of that at all.

Gravatar Yes I have heard of it although I don't know a whole lot about it. Congratulations to you on your adoptions. But I'm curious Katie are you going to raise him as a Buckeye or a Wolverine? I am assuming that in either case however you will teach him to love his enemies as Christ commands!

Gravatar I love this post! Thanks for sharing... In addition to Jackie, I read your blog everyday too! Usually right after I go get my expensive cup of coffee (g/nf/cm- can you guess that one?) and get the kids started with school.
Your blog has ignited my pilot to a flame. You get me really fired up on homeschooling issues. It's been a blessing. It's my daily read, nice slice of encouragement (and some fun too!)
Kate (in GA)

Gravatar Thanks Kate for the encouragement!

Is this your drink? Grande non fat caramel machiatto.

I get the same thing only with the extra calories. Bad me!

Gravatar Yes it is!!! Great taste buds taste alike! (did that one make sense?!) But check this out... I am going crazy with Christmas shopping for my kids from the Vision Forum link you had on your post regarding AG Dolls. And I had to slow down a bit on my g/nf/cm drinks. So the other day I was at Super Target and decided to try some new coffee flavor called Toffee Nut. I was housebound Wednesday morning since the Pest Control came and was desperate for a kick, so I made some coffee and poured some of that in - and to my amazing suprise - it tasted very close to the actual CM!! Try it out sometime! (Can I ask how addicted you are to the CM's?)

Gravatar I'll have to try it. I have what I would call a controlled addiction. I only have one when I go out with my husband. And we are on a fairly tight budget so we have to watch how often we go out. However, every year my hubby and my mom have a good natured "bet" over the U of M / MSU football game and to the winner goes a Starbucks gift card. So we are currently living off that card.

Gravatar I went and added one myself after reading La Shawn. Even though I had some, they weren't all she wanted.

Of course, I still don't have all she wanted, because there is no pics of me on the site. Oh well.

Gravatar That's great! A Starbucks card makes a great reward (or gift for that matter!). I am down to a controlled addiction as well. Try the Toffee Nut coffee flavor - it's close to the real deal!

Gravatar Nice to meetcha Spunky

Gravatar Thanks for posting the picture! You are a VERY young looking mom of 6!

Gravatar I've finally read it! Sorry it took so long.

Gravatar Oh, so your Karen, good to know.

More that 20 years ago I lived in Garden City, MI...heard of it?

I like when I get to see pictures of fellow bloggers

God Bless,
Amber

Gravatar Yes, I only live about 15 minutes from Garden City.

Gravatar I _love_ this list, and am curious having grown up in a suburb of Detroit about you...having homeschooled our manboys (who are now 21 and 18!) I also have an affection for your mothering choices.

God bless,
Hh

P.S. Found you via Choosing Home blog!

Gravatar '...Believes I am totally right about just about everything I believe. Otherwise I wouldn't believe it. And if you think about it...you do too."

Ha ha ha I say this all the time, too, and get very puzzled looks. But, it's totally TRUE!

Gravatar Please, tell me that this is your senior pic from High School. I am 31 and have also had six children. It shows on me. I use to think I was fat (130lbs. 5'4"). Now, I only wish I could be that size again. lol

Oh, I almost forgot. Go Bucks! (I'm in OH. )

God bless,

Gravatar I'm flattered. It was taken about 6 months ago. I'm 43. Thanks for the compliment!

Gravatar I just read my post and realized that I said I had six children. Doesn't that sound terrible. I gave birth to six children. I have six children.

Gravatar I must be brain dead today. I ended a question with a period.

Gravatar just wanted to say that we live in detroit suburbs too (f.h.) ! But my dh would say, "GO STATE!!"

Gravatar Spunky,
I have homeschooled my children before. They have also been in a public school and a private school. I have decided to h/s my 13 year old son this year but my 14 yr. old daughter REALLY wants to go back to public school. #1) b/c she wants more friends (outside of her church friends) and #2)she is worried that colleges will not accept her if she was h/s....
My dilema is that she is going through some teenage rebellion and I am thinking that if I send her to public school, this will get worse. But she gets so upset when I tell her that I am not sure yet where she will be attending school. She really wants to try public school again. I am needing some advice...should I let her TRY and if her behavior worsens, I can always take her out and h/s her. What do YOU think? I just don't want her to "tune out". I'd like to give her a chance, but also feel like I'm setting her up for failure there.
I need some advice....anybody? Spunky?
Help....
Shan

Gravatar I'll boost this to a post.

Gravatar Thanks...sorry! Here's a stupid question...WHERE do I go to find the answers on my post?
-shan

Gravatar I haven't posted it yet! LOL! I just posted a new post so I'll wait until tomorrow night or Saturday. Sorry for the slight delay, but I don't like to put up too many posts in a row, and I'm going to be gone for much of the day tomorrow.

Gravatar Spunky,

I discovered your wonderful blog from reading the "She's Right" blog.
I am finding that I love your thoughts on homeschooling and education in general.

We are a large blended family of 6 - soon to be 7 - and are planning on homeschooling the three youngest - the oldest of which is now pre-school age. I plan on embarking on my homeschooling journey this fall with my pre-schooler. He has begged for "school" and to do "school" stuff. Of course, to him, that means using safety scissors and glue sticks on a regular basis.

Anyway - just a note to say - I'm lurking, hope you don't mind, and keep up the good work!

--Susan

Gravatar Hello Spunky! I loved that you put up some on yourself. I enjoy reading your blog, it makes me want to blog more, but I am no Spunky in the writing department! I am a homeschooling mom to three, youngest just started K, the older two I have homeschooled for three years. We are in Indiana, but my heart has always been in Michigan. Most of my family is there. I emailed you months ago about homeschool laws, and well the move did not pan out. My family is from the Big Rapids area, though I have family in Detroit. Well I had to comment just to let you know that I really appreciate all that you write about. Lunch is almost over, so must walk away from the computer.

Gravatar Hi,
How are you? I am Lindsay Lee and i go to wellborn baptist church in wellborn fl. do you have any kids that are 10 11 or 12 if so please get them to e-mail me at dslll@BELLSOUTH.net

Gravatar Email me back hurry

Gravatar Oooh liking the bonus lol

Gravatar Spunky: I am a bit older than the rest of you, I have four grown children and 10 grandchildren. When I was raising my children the home schooling wasn't accepted as it is today, my older sister actually ended up in court, so there were those who paved the way. I have enjoyed reading your blog and would just encourage all of you that whether you home school, or private school or even public, that it is the heart of the child that must be reached. And most of all, that God is faithful to Himself. Our four children love the Lord and are training their own childrens hearts to love Jesus. Spunky that is what I appreciate about your blog, you love the Lord. Bless you. Debbie

Gravatar Dear Spunky:

Summertime is bike riding time!

Join homeshooler Lynette as she attends the Blessing of the Bikes at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in NYC and learns what kind of bike helmet to buy and some good rules for riding in the city.

Plan a bike parade for the Fourth of July. Check out the MEET ME AT THE CORNER website (www.meetmeatthecorner.org)

Watch video then scroll down the page to learn how to decorate a bike for the Fourth of July. And please pass this along to other homeschool families.

Thank you , Donna Guthrie

Gravatar Hi Spunky. I'm "spunky" too! I love your coffee comment--I love a good cup of Starbucks...when purchased on a gift card!

I stumbled upon your blog ---it's so cute! I'm a home schooling mom too of nine blessings...Keep it up!
God bless,

Gravatar Spunky, speaking of Starbucks, I think we have a chat date calling us? You know me, and I know you. So let's get together at an expensive coffee house to talk politics. I need all the help I can get.
I will get a G/IDSL/ Bet cha can't figure that one out

Gravatar No but Emily probably will! Let's do it. Maybe even get the hubbies in on it.

Gravatar Grande, iced, decaf, soy, latte!!!!!
sure, the hubs can join us too..........

Gravatar Spunky,
I've been lurking on your blog for the last month or so, but after reading that you live in a Detroit suburb I had to say hello, seeing as how we're practically neighbors and all...I'm in Toledo. Of course, that makes me a Buckeye, but I'm sure we can both overlook that, right??

I have so appreciated all your political blogs over this last month, and I can't wait to read what comes next!

So nice to finally 'meet' you, and I'll be back in a week and a half to give my condolences after the big game! (Sorry! Had to do it---I'm a big kidder---please forgive me!)

Missy Olivo
Toledo, Ohio

Gravatar You're forgiven. The way Michigan is playing this year, I might just convert to a Buckeye (purge that thought Spunky!) If you ever get up to this area let me know.

I"ll also be live blogging and speaking in Cincinnati in April 2009. Perhaps I'll meet up with you there.

Gravatar whoohoo! I am so excited to find your blog-I will be back to read in all my spare time...right now I'm off to homeschool my geeks-in-training. wink wink. have a great day.
