Excellent job, Spunky. I only wish I could articulate these points so clearly when I get the question, "what made you decide to homeschool?"

Don't be too hard on yourself, Jessica. God will give you the words to share with those that ask.

Hi,
Thanks for this. I found it while searching for information using the words "son doesn't want to homeschool high school". My son, who has been homeschooled since 5th grade and is now homeschooling eighth grade, has been talking about going to public high school. This article you wrote is exactly what I needed to read right now.

Hello Spunky,
I'm a student teacher that has been reading your blog with interest for the past couple of weeks now. I am interested in homeschooling my children in the future(Should the Lord bless my husband and me with them someday). If you have any tips on teaching elements of Christian morality in the public school system that won't get me fired I am all ears!
I grew up with several neighborhood friends who were homeschooled from second grade to highschool that grew up to be well adjusted Christian adults. I have great respect for parents who actual take part in teaching their children to become better people both in spiritually and mentally.
I can't help but wonder why you would refer to children in the public school system that may or may not believe in Jesus Christ as fools for simply being a product of their family environment. I would hope that you are not implying that those who are not Christian are directly against the Lord for following the interpretation of God that fits their identity. If I somehow misunderstood the beliefs you expressed in your article please correct me with more clarification. Thank you!

Tegan let me answer your last question first. You asked, "why you would refer to children in the public school system that may or may not believe in Jesus Christ as fools for simply being a product of their family environment. "
I think you may have misread the article slightly. I quote the scripture "Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child." and then I said "Also, within the walls of the school it would be my foolish children walking among foolish companions." I referred to all children as being "foolish" not just public school children based on the scripture that I previously referenced. I did not imply anything else except that. And in light of that truth my children cannot learn wisdom.
As far as teaching tips, walk in the Spirit and do not fear man or getting fired. Be obedient to the Lord and submitted to your employer. In oing so, your testimony will be a light, I am sure.
